In the busy streets of a huge city, the young girl, Luna, with her furrowed brows, held an umbrella over her head while enduring the heat from the sun during afternoons. It was the time where her classes ended every day but she couldn't seem to get used to the scorching heat in her cold deprived country.
Luna walked hurriedly into the pedestrian street that would lead to a mall, ignoring the tiny beads of sweat from her face. Walking down a road was not imposed on the people but the distance to the mall from her school was near that she would have laughed at herself if she rode a vehicle. Although the glaring hindrance which was the afternoon sun made it hard for her.
In the side lane, all of the people who passed by walked at the same pace as Luna and did not want to waste time from staying under the sun for so long. Then Luna quickly closed her small light blue umbrella after reaching the entrance of a mall and mumbled something while walking.
"Goodness, I finally reached the mall before I bath in sweat!" She said while sighing in relief.
The young lady entered the mall in a continuous hum and strolled around while the cold breeze of air from the mall's aircon gently touched her skin. She only came to a stop after her eyes glanced at an ice cream store named plainly, 'Ice Cream Shop', although it wasn't the name she's going to buy for it's the dessert she's after.
With her dark eyes gleaming in delight, she happily strode over without looking out for the others who were walking in front.
'Of course, I have to treat myself for being such a hardworking student!' Luna thought absentmindedly.
Her childishness soon caused her misfortune after bumping into a man. Luna failed to keep her balance and fell to the ground. Not wanting to let the perpetrator escape, she immediately turned her sight to the man only to see him running away in a hurry. She miserably failed to run after him because her head felt dizzy and her sight had become blurred because of certain white light.
It came back to normal after some time and she hurriedly stood up from the cold flooring of the mall as she already felt the weird looks of the people passing by. Her face frowned because she didn't even have a chance to go after that rude man.
"Tsk," she uttered, frowning. She massaged the side of her eyes and kept thinking if she began to have eyesight problems. Then her mind immediately thought of that man who did not seem to know the word apologies.
The only thing she remembered about his appearance was he's wearing something a cosplayer would do. His clothes looked formal yet they still looked weird for this era.
Luna understood that he's in a hurry but he should have apologized and helped her stood up. She shook her head and started to question what is going on in this huge world with all the people being rude.
'What's wrong with these people?!' she thought.
Her good day turned out to be the opposite of it.
Nonetheless, Luna would not let that incident make her whole day ruined. She tried to ignore what had happened and walked away with heavy footsteps to a shop named Ice Cream Store. She opened the glass door with her head full of thoughts.
"I hope we would not meet again. The thought of it makes me sick," Luna mumbled.
Luna, however, did not notice that she kept whispering to herself and the cashier man didn't know what to do. He had to take her order or the rest of the customers would get mad because of her impulsive actions. The newly appointed man began talking with his mouth and hands trembling.
"Ah.., Ma'am? Can I please get your order?" The cashier man said slowly and carefully then waved his hands towards her face.
Luna stopped, winked her eyes, and finally came back to her senses. She smiled awkwardly and selected the mango-flavored ice cream that took her interest at first sight.
Usually, she would've stayed a bit longer inside the mall because of the hot weather waiting for her outside but due to the inevitable circumstances that happened today, she left early and decided to go home.
Luna thought she'd be going home smoothly but her expectations had gone awry like someone was purposely doing it to her with a joyous laugh on his face.
Upon waiting for a jeepney, she started to feel hot and sweaty. She patiently stood at the shed with her folded umbrella in her right hand and her left hand was holding her backpack's left straps.
Unfortunately, she had been waiting for half an hour already. Some jeepney passed by but all of them were full thus, she needed more patience to wait for another one. The incoming jeepney was not full and she almost jumped for joy when there were vacant seats.
Luna took a few steps and almost near the vehicle but alas! Someone bumped into her. She managed to keep her balance unlike last time although the jeepney already left.
"Ahhh! Why does someone always keep on pushing me!" Luna shouted desperately with a stomp on the ground.
'This day will be the day I'll be irritated the most, nonetheless I'm glad my ankles are still fine,' she added.
It would be bad if she won't be able to walk. A few seconds later, another one arrived and she's finally able to ride a vehicle leading to their subdivision.
'So I still have a little bit of luck today.' she thought while biting her lips.
When Luna reached home, her mother kept on asking her what had happened because of her frowned face which was unusual for her daughter during the end of the weekdays.
She reasoned that luck was not on her side today while walking straight into her bedroom. Luna jumped irritatedly into her bed after dressing herself, leaving her uniform at a clothes basket in the corner of her room.
"I should just sleep this!" she said shouting while she covered her face with a long pillow.
Due to her exhaustion for today, Luna's drowsy eyes slowly closed, and fell asleep easily.
Until a white light quickly enveloped her whole body and disappeared, leaving her long pillow alone in the bed.
She was brought into a vast bed of colorful tiny flowers blooming in the wide grass field. The white light immediately vanished into tiny circles upon bringing her body into that foreign place as if it already finished its task.
However, she's still sleeping soundly with her long black hair scattered in the field, her body feeling cold, and had no idea she's gone out of her bedroom.
