Chereads / Spirit of the Black Wolf / Chapter 5 - New applicants?!

Chapter 5 - New applicants?!

"After what happened yesterday, I have been thinking if you have ever thought about recruiting new witches. Battling demons and spirits by yourself must take a toll on you, and I am no help without any magical abilities. What if we came across a real problem and get outnumbered?"

Wes looked at me as if I were crazy, "Outnumbered?! Problem?! I never had any trouble of that kind. It was you who was in need, and she was just a little girl!"

I was teared eyed when he reminded me that I got my ass handed to me by some kid, "SHE WAS POSSESSED!"

"Is that really your excuse? You're a werewolf and could have easily handled her! You should have been able to smell or hear her coming from a mile away with your abilities."

I sighed as I softly said, "I don't know how to use them…"

"Well, you better learn, and fast, or you will always be getting beat. My best advice for you if you got yourself in one of those situations, is to run as fast as you can. Plus, there isn't anything that I cannot handle on my own. I am a bad witch from birth. Also, I did have a recruit."

"What?! Really?!" I said, "What happened to this person?"

Wes looked at me with a big smirk on his face, "He got cursed and was unable to use magic due to the curse."

"You're not funny." I started to feel a little bit annoyed.

Wes sat down next to me as we were enjoying the scenery outside his front porch with a cold beer in his hand, "Besides, what do you expect me to do? Put out a flier that says, Now accepting new applicants to learn the mystical dark arts, as if! I highly doubt that anyone would come running and bang at my door pleading with me to teach them. And, I already have something better than a witch or apprentice to help me out."

I looked at him confused, "What could be better than a witch?"

"A werewolf that I can always count on."

"But how could I be better than a witch? I can't use magic, only shapeshift and bite people, and I can't even do that yet."

Wes shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. It's something different. Look, you are ruining the moment here."

"Wait! I just thought of something!"

"You have an idea? That could be dangerous."

"Hear me out! I could look for possible candidates to be your next apprentice."

He spat his beer out laughing at my idea, "If you think that it will work, go for it."

I was determined to find someone to join us. I am certain that someone in town is willing to learn. Now I have to think about how I am going to go about this. I don't want to go knocking door to door and hope that the person does not hide in the house because they do not want to open the door. Religious people will just chase me away. Normal people will be too scared to mess with the occult.

This is going to be tough.
