Chapter 3 - Mistake (2)

Hazel decided to stop watching the rest of the series as he got bored during the frequent romance scenes.

He had a trace of faint disgust from couples that he could not explain that came from deep within his heart.

Maybe it was due to his father's ending his marriage with his mother. He knew that their marriage had been held together from the existence of his presence as a young child. That all changed as the years went on and Hazel lashed out more and more and more and got the reputation for being the worst rich kid in the neighborhood.

If it wasn't for the desire to break the illusion that they were one happy family, he betted that his mother would've left a long time ago and not when he turned fifteen. He didn't even care about her anymore, which he barely registered as he fumbled his hands into the couch.

He clicked the button to flip the television off and noticed an odd stench coming from his floor.

Hazel frowned when he realized it was coming from an unconscious human body on his floor. The red stains painted his floor while the littered broken objects gleamed from the strong moonlight drowning into the room.

Hazel dialled the main number to call more servants.

"Please clean my room," Hazel hung up the call after his demand.

It didn't take more than a single minute for a team of staff to appear in front of the door. A sound of polite knocking was instantly heard as the servants brought a medic with them in fear that the butler had been beaten up again.

"Come in," Hazel yelled as he waved his hand.

The servants came in with their cleaning supplies in tow while the medic chose to stay hidden as he stood outside the room.

The butler slightly cracked a smile as he was dragged by one of the servants out of the room. This was a usual scene after one of Hazel's tantrums. No one was surprised when they noticed the unconscious butler in a desperate pleading pose on the hard wooden floor. Rather, they sighed in relief that it wasn't them in the same position they could fearfully see themselves in.

The maids rushed to quickly clean the room, afraid that they may agitate their young master if they took any longer. They knew Hazel's patience was thinner than a strand of hair. They scrubbed the floor with all their might as silently as possible to make their presence invisible.

No one wanted to stand out to have their young master to relieve more of his stress on them. If it wasn't for the high salaries to support their families, they would have quit this very second. They were so well compensated that they were paid equally to that of an entry level position at a white-collared office job.

Hazel lazily laid down on his bed while flipping through his magazines as the servants quickly left the room once the mess was perfectly cleaned.

The room was perfectly restored the way it was before Hazel threw his tantrum. New sets of stationary were placed onto his desk and the servants made sure to deliver his Caramel Flavoured Kernal's Popcorn.

Hazel placed his chubby hand into the new bag of popcorn as he continued to relax in luxury.

The next morning, Hazel got ready to go to his elite private school. He slipped into his fancy black car driven by his chauffeur and arrogantly pulled out a bottle of wine from the icebox near his seat.

The mass of people who walked to the school were not surprised to watch Hazel's typical grand entrance when getting off the car.

The chauffeur quickly pulled out a roll of red carpet from the truck to roll it starting from the door Hazel got out. Hazel opened the car door to walk on the red carpet until he reached the gates of his school.

Hazel hated school. His teachers and classmates could not understand his greatness like his servants in his mansion.

Hazel frowned and scrunched up the test paper he had gotten back from the teacher. It was obvious the teacher hated him, or else there was no way that he would have gotten 30% on his math test.

His classmates sneered and started gossiping when they took a quick glance at his test paper as Hazel clenched his fists. His lips started to bleed from biting it inside out while withstanding the cold glares from his peers.

Once Hazel left school, he ripped the test paper inside the car until it was unidentifiable what was originally written. The shreds of paper drifted down onto the floor where Hazel stomped on them like the dirty mess in his heart.

'This never happened,' Hazel tried to convince himself as the test paper was no longer able to display its initial purpose as it appeared to be just garbage when its dirty pieces littered the floor.

As soon as Hazel walked into his room, he called for the butler on his phone. This time, the butler picked up the call on the second ring.

"What can this useless butler do for you today, young master," an old tired voice answered.

"Bring me some potato chips, now!" Hazel screamed before hanging up.

Hazel impatiently tapped his foot as he waited for his useless butler. The butler picked up the phone on the second ring and not the first as usual and he was taking more time to serve him the chips.

The butler knocked on his door after five whole minutes.

"Come in," Hazel yelled with irritation clearly present in his voice.

The butler came in with a pretty young girl who hesitated to enter the room. Her bright golden pupils and sharp jawline resembled the butler as she hid behind him while grabbing onto one of his legs.

"Who's that?" Hazel sneered as he wasn't in a generous mood today.

"My granddaughter," the butler introduced the young child who hid behind him.

"And why is she here?"

"I apologize, but my eldest son had no one to take care of her today." The butler bowed.

"It's fine," Hazel waved his hand to dismiss the issue.

"But where are my potato chips?" Hazel put out his hand.

The butler briefly avoided his glance before putting on his professional smile. It was like Hazel knew there were no potato chips in their inventory as he viciously grinned. They had just ran out of their typical supply yesterday when Hazel binged on all his snacks while watching his TV show.

"There-re is none, however, there is you-r Cara-ra mel Flav-oured Popcorn," the butler stuttered with a hint of fear as he suggested another alternative.

Hazel's eyes widened as if this was the perfect moment to act surprised.

"So you're telling me there's no chips?" Hazel grabbed an empty wine bottle he drowned earlier.

The young girl shrunk back even further as her fingers dug in the butler's leg from the hostile atmosphere.

The butler hugged the young girl to protect her as he predicted that Hazel was going to throw the wine bottle as usual.

"Oh please, I wouldn't hit a child," Hazel accused the butler.

"Of course," the butler hesitated to let go of his granddaughter.

The butler attempted to duck down as Hazel raised one of his arms to throw the glass bottle.

Unfortunately, Hazel's horrible aim caused the bottle to land near the forehead of the young girl who tried to stifle her scream.

The girl instantly cried out in pain as a small amount of blood dripped down into her cheek.

"Grandfather, am I going to die now?" The girl collapsed onto the ground after her innocent question.

The girl fainted soon after with her bloodied head tangled up in her short bobbed hair, making her injury painless while she turned unconscious as the butler carried her limp body.

The butler turned to give Hazel an murderous glare before he slammed the door shut and professionally excused himself as usual.

Outside Hazel's room, was not a normal man. The butler had faint tears rolling down his sunken cheeks in anger as the other servants hurriedly called for a medic.

This man was clearly out for revenge as there was no sign of worry to be seen in his eyes for his granddaughter. Rather, the eyes of a murderer remained deeply instilled his empty, broken self.
