The darkness was so expansive and empty... So so empty. But then all the energy in the atmosphere... Galaxies began to form, stars and planets and moons. Some planets even had life that began to develop.
In one particular galaxy, our galaxy actually, is where our journey begins. Darkness... The oldest element. It is everywhere. It was everything. it was all there was at the start. And then stars began to form, and with those big burning balls of gas came light. Light is the second oldest element. Those two opposing forces created a universe. Too much darkness and nothing will grow, too much light, and everything will wither and die. Balance is important for all life. Those two forces slowly developed an entity made of pure dark and light. A brother and a sister who took equal shares of the elements to help create life beyond plants.
Darkness took water and earth, and Light took fire and air. What the two were missing though... They spent centuries trying to find it, fighting about it. Only then did they figure out what they were missing. Spirit.
Soon, when the two worked together they created planets. For each planet, they made a deity. Nine gods were made, in the hopes that they would rule their planets and help the lives of their people flourish and accept balance.
Some say that the gods grew jealous of their creators. That they craved the power they had, and the control they wielded overall. But the gods were not completely foolish, as they feared what earth came to call Titans. They tried to imprison the Titans in a carefully constructed moon. All but earth's god, Genetrix were said to be involved. And all were punished for such a thing. They were dragged through the brightest light and then the darkest of shadows.
The gods themselves were driven mad by what monstrosities they were shown and devoured shortly afterward. The Titans were fair and kind, but vengeful and not a force to be messed with, clear from the punishment delivered to. Earth survived the wrath of the two siblings, and as a result, the earth was rewarded. Humans who believed and trusted in them should get in boats and float out into the middle of the ocean. The population on earth at this point was a lot lower than it is now. About thirty thousand by the time that the two deities visited Genetrix and her children.
Those who listened and drifted out to sea under the boiling sun began to lose hope, but their patience was rewarded. Five hundred people made it out there to them. The deities took on human forms and blessed each and every human with some sense of control over the elements. They promised to teach them about the balance between the two...
And that they did. They helped humans build a huge city for them and their future children and their children's children, and so on. This was proclaimed around what most humans know to be 1347, around the time the black death began spreading through Europe.
The gods had shown them the ways of building, farming, bathing, and medicine. The people in what they had dubbed The City Of Genetrix were spared from such an illness.
As time progressed, so did humans. Those with powers tried to bring in new Humans, and all were met with ridicule. Accused of witchcraft, somewhere burned in the name of "God" for understanding the greater powers upon the earth and the importance of good and evil being equal.
The City Of Genetrix flourished meanwhile, understanding that the rest of the world was not welcoming to them because they had the power that they didn't, and it frightened them. A few small, select few began seeking out the city where they would learn to become more than they are. Some found it, some didn't. Some had bad intentions upon arrival, and some didn't. What they all had in common was that they were shown a new life. Given a new start, a new name, and a new purpose. Some didn't like being beneath what then appeared to be a giant tree and two fake gods.
So the city tossed them out, greed being unwelcome in the city, and the gods had long since vanished to take care of bigger, more important issues around their galaxy.
So here we are now, 2014. Those who defy the will of the gods are tossed out. There are rumors of schools that try to teach what they can, having a teacher who was banished from Genetrix's City. Since founding, the population of the city has reached fifty thousand people. The City is said to be underground mostly, below a seemingly deserted island. The truth? The whole island, The Isle Of Genetrix, is only accessible to those who have a Soul Lilly growing for them.
That's where they built the academy. In the capital of the Isle Of Genetrix. This academy is for children to learn and grow, and find their powers and learn to control them before some are chosen and sent out into the world to help keep the world in balance, as Genetrix and the gods intended.
"And that concludes our introduction to the school. You can collect your class schedule from the front desk shortly, along with your student ID and dorm room number. Please ensure you state your full name at the desk, and we hope you enjoy your first year in Genetrix's academy"
