Chapter 79 - A Brief Relieve and Deeper Thoughts for Travis and Billy

'Black Caiman, this is Nest. How are things going on your end?' my watch blinked and vibrated.

'Black Caiman here. We have to reroute to the second village since it was already dark and too far to get back to the first village.' I responded the transmission.

'Is everything alright?' my watch transmitted a message again.

'We are okay, the archeologist is also fine. We came across something yet to be seen when we were on our way to the village, but thankfully we did not have any dangerous encounters.' I answered.

'That is good to know.' it responded.

'We are sheltering ourselves inside one of the houses for the rest of today.' I told the person across the transmitting machine. 'As for tomorrow, we are planning to start to get to the mountain top. I am pretty sure that we will find something very important up there.'

'Exactly what I was going to tell you, Caiman. Be sure to stay alerts of your surroundings as you get there.' the message showed.

'Sir.' I answered the transmission, assuming that the person replying my messages so far was Commodore Quentin. 'Do you think that there is some sort of a connection between the aliens and the prehistoric sites, if any?'

'We do not want to jump to any assumptions yet.' My watch transmitted again. 'However, whatever it is that you have in your mind, I am pretty much sure that I too will think that way if I were in your position.'

'Yes, sir. Understood.' I replied the transmission, with a feeling of relieve since I felt like somehow my hypothesis was technically approved.

'Remember, Caiman. Stay alert. Nest out.' The transmission ended.

I nodded twice just as the message transmission between me and E.X.T.I.R.T had ended, and gave out one loud and slow sigh as I looked up to the dark ceiling of the house, attempting to branch out another possibilities behind the second invasion of the aliens. It was also at that time, when Billy apparently had just finished contacting the Commander General.

"Did the General tell you anything about the pyramid and the aliens?" I asked him, as soon as he finished transmitting his messages.

Billy did not respond to me right away, since he seemed to be left in his own thoughts right after he ended the transmission with the Commander General. If I had to guess after looking at his stumbled expression, he might have either received an order to a change of plan for the operation, or a piece of other new information regarding the aliens and/or the weather forecast for tomorrow.

"When I asked you about your opinion on why they landed near the mountain top," Billy said to me, as he paused and continue it with a question, "you actually thought that it was due to some yet to be known connections between them and the prehistoric sites, right?"

"Yes…" I responded by confirming it to him.

"Well… the Commander General apparently had the similar thoughts such as yours…" Billy told me as he looked at me with a serious expression then, right after he nodded to my response.

At that moment, I completely realized that it was no longer my own hypothesis. Instead, I believed then that it could be considered as the conclusion that the operation could make so far. However, with that in mind, the next thing that we must do was to find out what the connections were, and if they were some sort of objects, then in the end, we had to decide whether to destroy it or take it away from the area.

"Bill, before we jump to any further hypothesis," I instantly said to him, "I am fully convinced that the pyramid on the carved stone was built by the prehistoric men, not by the aliens. That means, we are not to destroy whatever ancient artifacts that we may find or come across later on"

"I agree with you that much…" Billy responded almost immediately after I finished stating my thoughts, "although I also would not say that the possibility for it is an absolute zero. Next to impossible, of course. But zero? No."

I looked down immediately as soon as he responded to my statement. At one point, it was obviously impossible for only the three of us to destroy literally every prehistoric evidence that we could find later on, not to mention the pyramid too should we somehow managed to uncover it even though we still had yet to figure out where it could be. And besides, we did not bring any form of explosives with us in the first place. However, what I concerned most was not the challenges right in front of us should we really have to get rid of the artifacts.

It was my confusion as to what could possibly the motives of the aliens in coming for the prehistoric sites, and also possibly the pyramid. Assuming if they indeed turned out to be the ones who either built the pyramid or guided the prehistoric men in building it in the far past times, what could be their goals or objectives in their current arrival?

With that question occurred in my head, I also began to wonder if the first and second earthquake that took place several days before had anything to do with it. Sure, the third one was most likely the indication of when the aliens arrived with their mothership in full stealth mode. But somehow, I could not shake the feeling that the first and the second earthquake somehow might have caused their decision to 'visit' earth again.

I took a deep breath and released it as I closed my eyes for a little moment in order to ease my anxiety and calm myself down again. When I opened my eyes again, I remembered that the events back in Chicago also did not have its complete conclusion.

Sure, the invasion ended and technically everyone on earth knew on how to defeat the invading creatures, but the motives of their arrivals targeting places and areas with DEW (Direct Energy Weapon) technologies was still remained unanswered. As the night continued, I wonder if the mysteries would remain unanswered for an unknown amount of time ahead...
