She was gone... Out of reach... My cold hands can never touch her warm heart...
"...my baby... Get her back! Bring me back my child!" I wanted to scream until no words came out.
Emma... I'm so sorry... I'm such a failure as a mother... I wanted to hold you...
Watch you grow...
Because of me... I won't be able to be there for you...
I wanted to be there when you cry and laugh...
When you sing and dance...
Come back to me, my child...
Forgive me...

After realising that it was useless to try and calm Valentina, Liam ran outside to find the man who did this.
However, he was already long gone... Liam came back inside... Slammed the door Shut!
"AAAH!!! SHIT!!" Liam bent on his knees and broke down. He was in a horrible mental state. He screamed his lungs out. Valentina felt so scared, hearing him scream like this, from the other room, that it made her shiver.
She was frozen. What could she have done to change all this?... Emma should've slept on the bed with them... or maybe she should've left Emma's door open.
All of these "what ifs" made her go mad. They were already losing it because of what happened last night and now this!
Valentina stood up quickly ran to the kitchen and grabbed the knife to her very being.
Liam, didn't notice immediately that she ran to the kitchen, but later figured it out. Valentina was hesitating. Would there be hope?... She thought.
"No..." She was ready to impale herself, then jittered to the sound of his voice. "Do it."
Liam was standing by the door. His eyes were red and tired, he hadn't slept for nearly 2 nights. He had enough.
Valentina looked at him, there was determination in her eyes, but Liam didn't look at her eyes... he looked at her hands...
She was shaking, she couldn't do it...
"What the f*ck are you waiting for?... Do it...." His voice sounded so sinister, like he wouldn't flinched to the sight and sound of her blood spilling onto his hands.
"Or do you want me to do it for you?!...." He waited...
And waited.
And waited.
There was no movement.
Nor was there movement to be made.
Valentina stared deep into his eyes, her vision became blurry when she realised that she was crying. She lossened her grip and lowered the weapon.
"WHY ARN'T YOU DOING IT?!!" Liam yelled from across the room. He stomped towards her, grabbed the knife, that was still in her hands, and pointed to her neck. He used such force, so quickly that Valentina didn't have enough time to react.
But, luckily, she saved her neck by pulling the knife away from her. Though, she was still struggling...
"STOP! STOP IT!"
"You stupid, pathetic woman! You don't give a f*ck about Emma!! You don't give a f*ck about life!! And you don't give a f*ck about HOPE!!"
Valentina's eyes widen. It may look like Liam is trying to kill her, but he's actually saving her...
He threw Valentina and the knife down in anger. Valentina fell on the kitchen counter, facing toward Liam.
He picked up his phone and called the police.

"What seems to be the situation?" A male and a female officer stepped in. The female officer asked the question.
"Our 6 month daughter was just kidnapped..." Liam replied calmly. Valentina just stood behind them, frozen still.
"A man broke in through the window and locked the door, which was already closed..." Liam brought the police officers to the room, the scene of the crime. They investigated for a while, and Liam repeated the whole story.
"Has anyone touched the window?..." The male officer asked.
"The man was wearing gloves." Valentina finally spoke. She kept her distance, and stayed outside the room with Liam.
"Ok..." They soon inspected the door, and the lock. The door had a lock at the top, were you would pull it up and the door would be locked. After a very close inspection... The female officer finally found something. It was a small, thin piece of fabric that must've came from the kidnappers glove.
"We've found a clue..."
"How is that gonna help you catch the guy?" Liam asked after taking a small look at it. Valentina just sat on the couch and blankly stared at them.
"It may be a small clue but with our team, we'll be able to find who the culprit is and we'll find your baby."
"But first, may we have your number and the picture of the child?"
"Sure..." Liam got out his phone and did what he had to do. Soon, the police left and before they exited the apartment the woman looked at Valentina and said, "Don't worry, ma'am... We'll do everything in our power to save your child."
Valentina softly smiled back. But it wasn't real. She wasn't happy, she knew they're weren't going to find her...
The door closed shut and they both sighed.
There was a moment of silence.
Nobody could dare to speak...

"Liam..." Valentina finally spoke.
He turned and looked at her, "What?..."
"If she...doesn't come back... Then promise me..."
"Shut up! Don't think like that!-"
"Promise me!" Valentina shouted at him with pleading eyes. She was desperate to be heard.
"Promise me...that you don't ever try to replace her..."
"Why the f*ck would I..." Liam stopped his speech. He couldn't get any words out of his mouth... He realised what she meant.
Liam walked to where Val was standing, held her shoulders and brought her close....He hugged her, and shivered as he spoke. "Valentina... You need to believe... that's why this is happening to us... The days are becoming short...and the nights will stretch on for years..."
Valentina was confused, but Liam sunk his head low, on her shoulders.
"Trust me... She will be ba...." Liam sunk down to sleep, Valentina grabbed as she felt his heavy weight crashing on her.
"Liam...!" She carefully placed him on the sofa, where he rested peacefully.
That was weird... he doesn't usually say stuff like that...
It was nearly dawn, but the sky remained blackened. Valentina patiently waited for a phone call from police, the whole time, however, to no avail did they call. She began thinking of the worst possible scenario, that could have ever occurred.
Until, the doorbell rang and shot Valentina awake. "Liam! The police are here! Wake up!" She said as she shook him off the sofa. Liam groaned.
As Valentina ran to the door, all her doubts lifted away from her mind. She was hoping to be able to hold her child once again, but once she opened the door... She was left in despair...
The police officers removed their hats, and looked down. Valentina slammed the door on them.
Valentina placed her back on the door, then slid down to the floor and began to sob. Liam got up and saw what happened at the door. He looked at her in shock. But then, narrowed his brows as he grabbed Valentina by the arm, threw her aside and opened the door.
"Well! F*cking explain yourself!" Liam yelled at the officers. The man bent to his knees and told them the truth.
"We found the man who did this to you... We found your daughter too... but..." The man was scared to speak any further.
"As we tracked him down and tried to arrest him, he... threw your daughter on the floor and ran. We caught him... However... your daughter... didn't make it after that...." The woman proceeded.
Liam felt distraught... he looked down and said, "At least you caught the guy...now he won't be able to do this to anyone else... Thank you..." He then closed the door.
He turned around, Valentina was still crying on the floor.
"Val... Don't worry... I promise... I won't ever replace her..."
"Why?... Why can't I do a better job of being her mother?! I'M SO USELESS!!!!!" To describe that scream... Can't be described with words.
Her scream increased her ferocity. She was rumbling in pain and she pierced her cry into the hearts of anyone around her. There was madness in her heart, her voice sounded like a crazy lion.
Liam, had no idea how to deal with her, as she was screaming and kicking her legs like a baby. He stared at her psychopathic moment, without uttering a word.
Then, when Valentina finally calmed herself, she just continued to cry. But Liam wasn't having any of it. He calmly went down, and held her tight as they lay on the floor. Valentina calmed herself, as she heard his heart beat.
"Come on... Let's just, forget everything and fall asleep..."
