Tower used the whole night and went through the outlaw's memories. But at the end Tower expression turned strange.
"Plan for attracting a Devil?..." A chill ran through his body when he read this particular memory.
"So this guy was a Devil Cultivator. Moreover the group he was working for seemed to have plans to attract a Devil to the Willow Town and become the Devil's apprentices."
According to this Devil Cultivator's memories Tower understood that it wasn't completely necessary for one to turn into a devil to become a Devil Cultivator. A normal human could still become a Devil Cultivator without becoming a Devil.
While human Devil cultivators won't face any problems at the lower levels, they needed the support of a Devil if they wanted to advance to the higher levels of Devil Cultivation. The gang behind this outlaw precisely wanted the support of a pure Devil.
With these memories Tower's information about Devil Cultivation became sufficiently rich.
As he went through the outlaw's memories once again, a plan started to appear in Tower's mind from the scratch. In this plan he considered a lot of things, such as his safety, his profits, the risks and so on.
....
Similar to the previous day, Tower left the house early and reached Melody Street. But unlike his previous inexperienced self, he walked around the street filled with confidence.
He had already transformed into the outlaw before coming to this street so he did not fear anything. At most he would abandon this appearance and start again.
The outlaw was named Helsin and he was a low level Devil Cultivator. He had two main forms of defense. One was a low level illusion, while other was the ability to control the opponent's mind.
Tower found both these abilities quite interesting. When he tried to use them, it was as if he was borrowing power from a higher level existence. It felt as if he was using a higher level existence's strength at the cost of some Devil Qi.
With the outlaw's memories, Tower was like a fish in the sea, moving around the street like it was his own backyard before eventually stopping before a relatively less popular bar. He took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
The bartender who had been cleaning the glasses with a neat cloth gave Tower a lazy glance before ignoring him.
Tower chuckled nonchalantly and banged the table. "It's getting hotter and hotter nowadays! Give me something cool!"
The Bartender nodded. He took a freshly cleaned glass and poured some cold beverage into it and while passing the glass to Tower he whispered softly.
"The lady is in the house, do you plan to stay the night?"
Tower drew a cross on his heart in response.
"Back door. Three long knocks, two short knocks before a long gap and one last short knock." The Bartender returned back to cleaning his glasses after these words.
Tower wasn't in a hurry to leave. He finished his cold beverage at a leisurely pace. Once he licked the last drop off the glass he pulled two copper coins and slammed them into the table.
The bartender took the copper coins while complaining. "Tch! Still such a miser!"
.....
Tower followed the bartender's advice and reached the backdoor of the bar. He knocked two long times followed by two short knocks and after a long gap he knocked lightly once.
The backdoor stayed shut for a minute, but it eventually opened and a burly man with black hair, half shaven beard, light brown skin appeared in Tower's vision. This was the typical appearance of a native of the Town.
"So it was Helsin. Come in, come in." The burly man welcomed Tower with a regular smile.
Tower entered the backdoor calmly and made his way into the interior without replying. It was as if he could not bother to greet this loser. But the native looking underling did not get angry at Tower. Devil Cultivation emphasized living out the primal feelings and the primal feeling of survival stopped this underling from getting angry.
....
During Tower's walk through the interiors he saw outlaws playing poker, smoking and drinking, and some even sparring with each other.
This bar was the headquarters of the Amoni Gang, the gang behind the guy Helsin who the Round Table had captured. The gang had numerous Devil Cultivators among their members and Helsin who Tower transformed into had a team leader position in the gang.
All lower level members of the gang had to listen to the team leaders, while team leaders listened to vice leaders who listened to the leader of the gang.
But most of the time these low level crooks forgot their direct superior which was the group leader and only listened to the vice leader's orders. Team leaders were just for show, a rank made to satisfy some ambitious men.
The Amoni gang had 7 team leaders, three vice leaders, and their leader. As for those of lower status than the team leaders, there were countless such members in the gang.
Tower licked his lips, impersonating Helsin's usual behavior while staring at the vice leader behind his desk.
"Boss, I want to lead the next slaughter!" Tower, Helsin licked his lips impersonating a crazy figure.
"Alright. But are you sure? You were pretty opposed to the plan before!" The vice leader's eyes turned into slits in doubt.
"Hehe!" Tower laughed creepily. "We are Devil Cultivators. There is no turning back once we take a step forward! So why must I feel the guilt that would weaken my Devil Cultivation?!"
The vice leader seemed to be satisfied with the answer as he nodded. "That's right, guilt would weaken us Devil Cultivators and suppress our potential to advance. Now that you have overcome your guilt and changed the way you look at things, it would only be a matter of time before you break through! You will be joining us vice leaders soon."
Tower laughed in response. 'Join you vice leaders? Sorry! You are not qualified enough!' He thought inwardly.
"Take my medallion and get yourself a Purification Bead! You need to harvest enough lives to completely fill the bead before you submit it back. Is that understood?" Slight chillness could be heard at the end of the vice leader's words.
Tower chuckled and nodded his head to show that he understood the consequences of failure. He took the vice leader's medallion and left towards the core section of the base.
There he stopped before a desk filled with all types of papers and handed the medallion to the outlaw behind the desk.
"Here take it!" The outlaw behind the desk confirmed the vice leader's medallion and handed Tower the Purification Bead.
The Purification Bead looked like a sea pearl. It's color was a combination of light pink along with light greyness at the middle.
Placing the Purification Bead into his pocket carefully, Tower took the vice leader's medallion and left towards the outer sections.
There he used the medallion once more to gather an already preplanned gang. These guys were Tower's permanent team and were supposed to listen to his, the Team Leader's orders, but they would usually ignore him as his strength was only slightly greater than theirs. The vice leader's medallion was a must if Tower wanted to completely control these guys. After all only absolute strength could suppress the Devil Cultivators.
