Chapter 5 - Devil’s temptation

"Another Heart Cultivator Turned Into A Devil: The Devil Sects Welcome A New Comrade"

Following the bold lettered title, the following news read:

"At the dawn of the 12th day of the moon, the 21 year old young man, Klein Marsh succumbed to Devil's temptation and killed his family of three, father, mother and sister. He was reported to have fled through the South Gate of the Miller City."

The newspaper in this world was not developed to an extent in which they had to write unnecessary stuff just to make it look more detailed. The news was short and on point without nonsense and repetitions.

Also from the Hunter's memories, Tower knew that this world's calendar system had only three months in a year. Each month had 90 days for a total of 270 days in a year.

The three months were respectively were the month of Sun, the month of Land and the month of Moon.

Tower gently stroked the beard that came with the hunter's body. It was already the month of Sun and thus this newspaper was at least 80 days old. But Tower did not mind it this time-gap. He was instead interested in the content of the newspaper.

"Another Heart Cultivator? Does this mean Heart Cultivators can be easily turned into devils? Or does it imply something else? Fled? Are Devils prohibited inside cities?....." Even though Tower had the hunter's memories, most of the hunter's memories were about hunting. The hunter rarely read the newspaper and his source of information came from other hunters who shared similar hobbies like him.

For example, take this case. The hunter knew that there were Devils in this world, but he did not know how the Devils came to be.

Tower only contemplated about the Devils for a short time and soon put it at the back of his mind and read further.

"Count Visreoy's Daughter's Coming Of Age Ceremony"

"Viscount Metlina's Marriage"

"The Afternoon Tea Party Of The Nobles Of Miller City"

The titles read as such. Except for the starting title which indicated crime, every other news pretty much had something to do with nobles.

Tower was surprised. To think that the Nobles would let the newspaper publish their meetings? Was it to attract popular support by showing that each and every decision of theirs about the public went through a lot of thought? Tower wasn't sure but he could not find other reasons to why the nobles would publish their meetings to the public with his shallow knowledge.

....

A Body Strengthening Cultivator had a huge appetite. In fact digestion was a natural process to harness the muscle into energy which was also the key resource for body strengthening. Thus Body strengthening cultivators ate a lot.

Cynthia knew that her husband had a huge appetite, so she would often prepare large portions of food. Today was no different. She cooked a large amount of vegetables and served them along with rice. Unfortunately, meat was expensive and they could not afford to eat it everyday.

But today, Cynthia's husband surprised her. Instead of eating his meal in silence like usual, he pulled her into his embrace and made her sit on his lap. He then personally fed her as he ate along.

As a family that relied on the husband's hunting to run the house, their house was pretty poor. But as her husband was a body strengthening cultivator Cynthia never held back in cooking more. She often made up for the excessive cost by ignoring her own meals. She was very content to be able to sacrifice for her husband, though the lack of food had made her thin and feeble.

But when her husband fed her through his own hand, unconsciously tears appeared on her face for a second. She immediately wiped away her tears and smiled brightly to not dampen the mood.

She actively sought food from his hand as she felt extremely blissful at the moment.

Tower looked at Cynthia's stuffed face and laughed. "Silly girl, eat more if you want!" He said to the enthusiastic Cynthia.

Cynthia's lips curved up as she showed her pearl like teeth. She nodded and ate more.

It was A happy occasion in the hunter's household. Cynthia's husband who seemed to have been losing his interest in her started showering her with love making her extremely content.

That night, Cynthia wore her best dress as she made it to their bedroom. She was full of expectation as a smile creeped up on her delicate face.

Pushing the door she saw the love her life. Her husband whom she loved ever since their childhood. He was looking at her tenderly.

"My love" Cynthia's hand reached out towards her husband's clothes as she leaned towards his face.

Their lips touched and a spark was produced in Cynthia. She moved her little tongue forward. Tower welcomed it and their tongues entangled in sweet passion.

But before Cynthia could move towards the next step, Tower pushed her away lightly. "Darling, I am tired from the hunt today." He said.

Cynthia's face dropped down, but she soon overcame her feelings and smiled at her husband. "I understand my love." She removed her hands from his shirt and gently pulled her husband into the bed while leaning on his chest. She drifted into her dreams listening to the familiar beat of his heart.

Tower looked down at the sleeping Cynthia and sighed. In fact Tower had a reason for caring about Cynthia.

According to the memories of the hunter, he had recently damaged the hunting equipment he was used to and hunting had become a lot more difficult without it.

To forget his hardship, the hunter turned towards liquor and had showed a harsh attitude towards Cynthia. Sometimes he would even think that she was leeching off him.

Even though the hunter still loved her inside, constant inability to catch prey made him drink more and his behaviour towards Cynthia had been harsher and harsher.

Tower did not know how the Devils would entice the Heart Cultivators, so he showed Cynthia some care to avoid future troubles.

As he thought of the hunter's situation, Tower sighed. Even a top hunter like him had been powerless when faced with his damaged equipment. This showed how strong the wild animals were to catch without proper equipment!
