Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Lunchbox Friends

Now who's this person giving me attitude in front of my desk.... he doesn't seem to be the least bit concerned about just barging in here... like he owns the place.

"Excuse me. Why are you here?" I asked him.

"Aren't you at least going to greet your younger brother?" He said to me, giving me a smirk.

Well, I would greet you if you don't just barge into people's office... that's disrespectful don't you think?

"Hello. So what do you need from me exactly?" I said a half-assed greeting and then asking for his motive to be here.

"Oh. Isabel. Your wife just asked me to give you this... isn't she sweet that she sends you lunch boxes..." He walks over to my direction... giving me a lunchbox decorated in floral pattern with a red ribbon... similar to a gift...

Honestly, I would appreciate the gift... if she wasn't such a psychopath... honestly this looks pretty cute... but I'm not gonna risk eating it... there must be some kind of poison in it... I'm not really risking dying today so. No.

"Thanks for bringing it to me... I'll go ahead and eat it later. Thank you." I smiled, he nodded and got out of the room... I sighed and took a look at the schedule saved on my phone...

The presentation is after lunch.... and Louie said he'll call me during lunch... so I guess I'll have to wait till then...

I hear the door creaking open a little ... someone knocking. "Can I come?" Her muffled voice being heard inside.

"Sure. You may come in." I answered. The door fully opens... revealing Ms. Fletcher who seems to be holding a lunch box...

Oh, what's that in her hand? A lunch box for her maybe?"Here is your scheduled meal plan, Mr. Quinones. For your meal... you have requested that your meals must be a balanced diet consisting of go, grow, glow foods. You will be having rice for your go. rotisserie chicken since fried is not healthy for you, for your grow and some boiled mixed vegetables for your glow. A dessert of yogurt with berries for your dairy as well..." She bows her head and hands me all the food...

Damn... he really has a scheduled meal plan? I really want chips right now... I'm craving for something salty... usually, when I'm stressed I just eat something sweet but I really need sweet things.

"Can I get some chips?" I asked her.

"Chips? It's junk food... it wouldn't do you any good sir and according to the guidelines of your meal plan, I am not allowed to give you anything that can make you unhealthy. So no." She responded.

OMG... I HATE BEING HEALTHY... I NEED MY COMFORT FOOD...Ugh... I sighed.

"Alright then..." I sighed, she then bows her head and starts to leave the room. "Wait! Where are you going?" I asked her.

She turned around puzzled. "What? I'm going to eat my lunch... I set up the presentation area.. is there anything else you need?""No. Actually... do you mind eating lunch with me?" I requested...

I'm not really used to eating alone... in this cold, dark office... usually, I'm surrounded by my workers... talking and chatting about our daily lives... but now.. why do I feel so goddamn lonely all of a sudden...

POV: Louie

Ugh! Finally, we made it to Grace's office! Do you realize how many I had to say good morning to before going here... WHY DOES GRACE KNOW THE NAMES AND FACES OF ALL THESE PEOPLE... AND HAS A CUSTOM GREETING FOR EACH ONE OF THEM... Ugh...

"Are you okay Louie? You are kind of exhausted..." Greg stood up and gave me a bottle of water. "You should rehydrate..."

"Thank you.." I accepted the drink from Greg's hand.

"I mean what's the matter with greeting them? I didn't know you had a hard time. Don't you also greet your workers?" Sungah asked me... while I sat down on my chair out of breath.

"No.. actually my workers are the ones that greet me by bowing their head... not me... and the fact that I had to memorize their names... is like legit hell if you asked me..."

Greg chuckled, sitting down on the nearby sofa. "It's almost lunchtime... so what do you want to eat Louie?"

"Doesn't Grace have a meal plan set by her secretary?" I asked both of them.

"Uh no... Grace usually chooses her meals... she kind of eats whenever she feels like eating. If she's stressed she has like a craving for sweet and salty things..." Sungah giggled.

"Alright then..." I said to them sternly... I stood up and opened the door... "You may all leave now," I said to them.

"Huh?" They ask in confusion. "What do you mean leave?

"Aren't you guys going to eat at your own desks?" I said to them.

"Oh, we don't really eat on our desks... We usually eat with everyone... you know in the cafeteria... sometimes when we have a new person we treat them to a little welcome party.. where Grace just gives a piece of cake to the new person." Greg explains.

"Oh.. why does she eat lunch with her workers? That's a little bit weird." I told them. They both burst out laughing like I was the weird one.

"Not at all... it's usually how she gets to know the other people... that's why she is very close to them and builds a solid relationship."

"Hey! Why don't you eat with us for a change? You know so that you can get used to being Grace?" Sungah suggested...

I sighed... "I'm not really the best person to come eating with a group of people... also I kind of have to coach Grace for the presentation.. it happens after lunch... so I don't think I'll be able to join you guys for lunch sorry," I said to them. "Although please get me a balanced meal to eat. That would be great thank you.""Of course sure I'll fetch one up at the cafeteria," Greg tells me leaving to the door.

"Alright then... I'll go ahead and tell everyone that you won't be joining us for lunch. See you later Mr. Quinones." Sungah bowed her head and left the room...

Now that I think about it... Grace and I have different ways.. to run our companies... in my company... I never ate with anyone... nor I cared about my workers... but in hers... she feels the need to welcome them all and to know them...

I guess that's just who she is... I never had anyone eat with me... even my family refused to...
