Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: The Past Can Hurt The Most.

It was cold January evening and Akira was walking home from his chess practice he was thinking about the last match he would be playing for his middle school in February. He had been playing for his chess team since his first year and he had rose to the rank of first in all of Japan and was ranked second on the global stage his parents were happy for his accomplishment and were looking forward to we're he would go to high school, but that stuff didn't matter to him he had been to worried with keeping strategy in his head. His thinking was interrupted by his cell phone ringing he checked his phone and it was his sister. "Hello onesan did. you just wake up?" "Ya even after four years I still haven't gotten use to the 13 hour time difference how was your practice?" "Oh its going well just preparing for my last match for my club." "Well that's good to hear." Akira's older sister Makoto had been accepted into Harvard and had been going there for the past four years, but she was moving back later in the fall so she could go to a local University in Tokyo to finish up her degree next year. The two of them were chatting until. "Boo" "Ah what the fuck Akeno?" "Oh wow I didn't think I'd scare you that badly?" Akeno Okumura had been friends with Akira since they were three they had been through pretty much everything together and now they we're finishing up middle school together and both of them were hoping to be in the same high school. "So you were so distracted that I could sneak up and scare you?" "Well ya obviously don't do that geez we're not little kids anymore we're almost in high school." "Ya and while I'm going to ace my entrance exam you will most likely fail and have to go with option B using your chess skills." Akira hated when Akeno was right sure he could figure out a chess board and think 100 steps ahead of his opponent, but he was pretty much lost when it came to any subject that involved numbers, or remembering things. "You know you could study with me if you want you know after your tournament." "You know what I'll take you up on that offer." "Ok then it's a date." The two of them stood silently until Makoto chimed in. "Oh did the young maiden finally reveal her true feelings at last." Which point both got very flustered. "What aa no why would ever do that I see Akira more as friend." "Geez you just got friend-zoned really hard Ototo!" "No I didn't and since when have you been on speaker phone?" Oh since you said the f-word and don't worry I'll tell mom and dad that you said that to Akeno." "Don't you dare! Hello Makoto Makoto? Oh crap I got get home bye Akeno." "Bye Akira it was nice knowing you." "Don't say things like that!" They laughed and then Akira ran home to try get to his room as fast possible. Akira hadn't thought of that memory in a while and was surprised to be dreaming about that when he woke up he still was in the wagon and for some reason Morgan was laying in his lap it took his brain two seconds to register what was going and instantly went into panic mode trying to figure out ways to get her off without waking her up, but it was to late and his brain was on self destruct as Morgan opened her eyes and meet Akira gaze the two stared for a solid minute until Morgan eyes widened and she quickly moved away. "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do that, but I couldn't get to sleep and I..." "It's alright you still were down from the whole thing with Orus." "Ya which you still haven't told me how you defeated him back there?" Akira had told her about him using flame magic, but didn't explain how those black flames had formed. "Look that's something.." "You don't want to talk about I get it, but hopefully one day you'll trust me enough to tell me." Akira felt a shed of happiness hearing that from Morgan, but their moment was ruined by the driver "Excuse me sir, but we've arrived in Hjälte."
