Alex less up the stairs to the top floor. She practically dragged me up them, her eyes had a determined look as she basically pulled my arm off. This dainty looking cat girl actually had a lot of strength.
I did not get to see the other floors of the guild as we traveled directly to the top. When we arrived, the top floor reminded me of an office building, with rather large cubicles inhabited by Strange goo-like creatures with four tentacles busily writing on their desks. Alex noticed my curiosity and explained.
"They are a special evolution of slimes that our guild discovered. They have no combat ability, and were being used by a group of orc bandits to the north as slave labor. A B ranked party managed to free them and brought them here. They are highly intelligent and quickly found jobs at the guild as intelligence sorters."
I nodded, as I had already gained the necessary information from the [Monster Encyclopedia]. The more I used the book the more magical it seemed. It apparently updated itself on its own, its pages always growing. It was by pure chance that I had encountered this book, and felt blessed for having done so.
She eventually led me to a corner office and knocked on the door. We waited for almost 15 minutes before the door opened. A beautiful woman answered the door. I immediately recognized her, even though she had gained a bit of weight. Her blond hair shined in the light, and her blue eyes seemed to have lost their dead like look. She looked at Alex with a confused look before her eyes landed on me.
Her face showed a look of shock that quickly disappeared. "So, you managed to Evolve Yuri. I'm not surprised at the outcome. How could the goblin demigod not curse you after what you did? It is surprising that you managed to obtain a blessing though, and something that is in between."
I nodded at her "It had been an interest couple of months to say the least. I will have to trouble you though I am in need of your help with something." I spoke as I exposed the wound on my abdomen.
Laurel gasped as she looked at the wound. I could sense a surge of mana as she pressed her hand against my wound. I could feel the warm flow of wood energy entering my wound as it slowly started to heal. She looked out of breath after casting the magic, but had a look of satisfaction on her face.
"This is the best healing spell I know. I'm not a priest, though a priest wouldn't be able to heal you anyways even if they were willing... It will spread up the process, it will still take you a couple days to get back into tip top shape."
She paused as she looked me over. "Come in and sit, tell me about your adventures." She glanced at Alex. "You can come in as well; she will need a partner and you're currently free."
A look of excitement crossed Alex's face "You mean it? I've been forced to work behind that desk for the last 2 months Even though I'm of legal age to be an adventurer!"
Laurel smiled at her softly "Of course, you can blame Yuri here for that, it had been my plan since I returned to pair you with her. Your classes mesh well." Inside her head she thought "And if I'm not wrong, you're exactly her type."
Inside of her office was rather spacious. There was a large desk in with its back facing a giant window. Windows covered the outside corners of the room. She led us to a corner that had a couch and a couple of chairs. She says in an overly large chair and gestured for us to sit on the couch.
"Let's begin with some introductions, both of you will tell each other your class and any special abilities you have. Yuri you can go first."
I nodded and did as she spoke, I quickly gleamed over my adventures and told my abilities in detail. Both of their eyes went wide at the mention of my curses and blessings.
"That's... Incredible" Laurel sighed as I finished speaking. "Your growth will be slow, but the increases in power are for no better word Monstrous. 2x ability growth increase and 4x agility increase. You would be a fool not to capitalize on that..."
I nodded "I had thought that previously I could boost my agility up to 200 right now if I invested all of my free points into it... But it doesn't seem like the right thing to do... Speaking of this... When I picked up dual casting, I noticed that my reactions and accuracy with my shots fell by a lot. How can I fix this?"
"Dual casting? When did you pick that up? It's a huge investment of coins, and not really worth it until the very end. The casting speed is just too slow for it to matter."
I nodded as she spoke. "I realized this as well, but with all of the bonuses I get I can still cast 2 orbs a second with my offhand. That is damage that I couldn't pass by. With all of my bonuses I reduced the casting time by 100% with this spell, leaving me only with the penalty with my off hand. By the time I've gotten the other two skills it will be an instant cast with my offhand as well."
Laurel laughed "Being a scion sure does have its perks doesn't it. That and being a dark elf have really worked in your favor. Your issue lies with your Dexterity. I can see you only have 15 points in it. You need to raise that by a lot. I would Invest 25 of your free points into your dexterity and the other 15 in your Agility. That will raise your Dexterity by 50 and Agility by 60. After that every level up invest one free point in each."
I did as she said and felt my body rapidly surge in power. My body felt lighter, more agile. I could also feel my perception speed up; I could tell that in would be able to react much faster with my shots. This woman truly knew what she was doing.
