"So, Laurel is your aunt?" I asked Alex as we left the office.
"Yes and no. She was engaged to my uncle, but he died on an adventure before they could actually get married. So, I call her my aunt."
I nodded as I listened. "You must have been worried when she was gone."
"Yea, her and her brother were a pair, they had gone to observe the Velocinids in their natural habitat. They are a new mutation after all. But apparently while they were hunting, they actually ended up being the hunted. The result was a devastating fight that left them both injured. Afterword's a group of goblins appeared. She won't tell us what happened but I can only imagine. She was gone for a little over a month."
I went pale as I listened. A month of that kind of treatment was too much for a person to bare. I can't believe how strong she is. Laurel is truly an admirable woman.
"So... shopping? I don't know how much coin I have..." I quickly checked my inventory. It seems the goblins inhabit defeated had actually hordes quite a bit of coin. I had a total of 10 gold pieces. 57 silver and 12 copper. I did not know if it was a lot or a little, but it should be enough, I think.
"It looks like I have around 10 gold? Is that going to be enough?"
Alex rolled her eyes at me. "10 gold is enough to buy several houses, getting something like clothes with it would not be an issue, how did you even get so much?"
"The goblins had quite the stash."
She laughed as she led me through the building. We ended up stopping on the third floor, which looked a lot like a flea market. There were various stalls that sold all sorts of items.
"All the items here can be bought with regular coins. Some of the items are magical, but their cost is much higher. Most unwanted magical items are sold to the shop for that type of coin. After all, as an adventurer the magical shop is where we can get skills, spells, and truly great equipment. so, any magical items you see here will be vastly inferior to what you can see in the shop. That or it is something that has no combat potential."
I nodded as I began to look through the stalls. Most of the items I saw were a weird combination of magic and technology. We passed a small that seemed to be selling musical equipment and Alex's eyes went wide when she saw the items. Her gaze seemed focused on a particular item. It resembled an electric guitar from our world.
"Can you play?"
She nodded in response. "My mother taught me, but dad always told me that music was an art that a warrior could not afford to indulge in. He would never let me play. " She seemed sad as she spoke, but quickly grew excited as she looked at the guitar. "This particular model is the mind my mother loved to play. It's called the Fender Air guitar. It was inspired by a person who came from a different world."
"People come here from different worlds?"
"Yea, they are actually kind of common. We have two adventurers in our guild who are not natives. They all have weird ideas, but most of them are useless. Too scared to actually adventurer. One of them is the bartender. She is amazing, apparently, she did it in her old world and has learned magic to help make her own drinks. She even was rewarded by the system for her new direction of magic and received the title [Mixologist]."
"The second is actually an old drunk. He's been in the guild for around 30 years, but has never managed to rank up. You will probably meet him sometimes he's rather belligerent. His name is Raymond."
As a reward for the information I decided to buy the Air Guitar. It was actually a magical item, the user had to insert mana before they could strum the strings. The sound produced was actually very close to an electric guitar. I ended up spending 50 silver on it. I did not regret the purchase when I saw the radiant smile on her face. The very sight of it caused my heart to melt.
We did not find any more magical items of note in the market. However, there were plenty of clothes to choose from. Honestly Alex was not much of a help in this regard as she was kind of a Tom boy. But her choices in clothes actually were rather close to mine. We both preferred practical clothing. Maybe it was due to my goblin nature, or just because I was originally a male, But I did not like restrictive clothing.
I ended up purchasing a few outfits that were actually really revealing. Short shorts and halter tops. My experience in combat had shown me that too much clothing was actually a detriment. Though the gazes that various men who throwing at me made me second guess my choices.
With a sigh I finally finish my shopping, Alex looked at me weird when I directly bypassed the lingerie stall. But I quickly stopped her staring when I spoke to her of my magical panties. But I did tell her I would by her some sexy panties if she wanted. Her face went bright red, but she still let me buy her a matching bra and panty set.
All in all, I spent the silver coins I had on hand, not a bad haul for the day.
