The streets in SwayLeaf lacked it's bustling atmosphere and sounds of battle attracted a group of people attention to the far end of Venders Ally.
"Chief who do you think has offended the Young Miss today?" A young man in his late teens adjusted his silver armor that only covered his neck, and left arm and chest.
The right side of his face, down to his right hand showed off his disfigured skin, discolored from lack of proper treatment from a past burn injury.
Mao Jingli ran to keep up along side the Chief.
"It must be a traveler, no townsmen would dare to offend my daughter knowing that Mixed-blood was at her side." The Chief swaggered down the street without care.
To Hue LuoQuan nothing could faze him, he originally wasn't born to this Region and so happen to have a higher cultivation level than the past Chief.
In this quaint town nothing extraordinary or unexpected ever happens, at most they get a few random travelers passing through a year. So Hue LuoQuan hasn't felt genuine fear or anything remotely challenging since he fled from those powerful pursuers from 'that' Region long ago. Since then he beat, imprisoned, and took the place of the old Chief of this town nine years ago.
"No matter who it is.. they'll suffer my wrath for pulling me away from my beautiful Lady Yi." Hue LuoQuan kicked down an abandoned cart full of hair pins the side of the street showing off his strength.
Just as Gin Chen walked out a store he sensed something flying in his direction. Out of instinct he protected his Masters packages and swung out his sword in reflex, chopping the wooden cart in half, accidentally flinging it back onto Hue LuoQuan as he walked forward.
Chen put away his sword and dusted off the items from the list Master left him in charge of, as he walked to the carriage.
-Crunch-
Chen looked down and saw a broken pink bangle underneath his boot.
"Ahh ..Sorry Sir I seem to have stepped on one of your bangles you misplaced on the floor here."
Hue LuoQuan's mouth twitched..
Is this man serious? He just obliterated a cart in less than two seconds, yet has the audacity to apologize for crushing a small trinket.
Wait.. why can't read his cultivation level ... his strength can't be any lesser than mine. Maybe even more...I have to convince him to work for me!
"No worries, it's just a little bangle. I'm The Chief of this town LuoQuan. Who might this esteemed guest be?" LuoQuan welcomed apprehensively.
"LuoQuan? LuoQuan...I thought Old Mao's son was called Jingli.. when'd you become Chief? What happened to Old Mao?" Chen looked at LuoQuan with suspicion.
"Ahh ...you and Old Mao are acquainted? Sir, sorry to be the one to tell you but Old Mao's been terribly ill for some time now. He hasn't been Chief for almost ten years now. He left the town in my care at least till his son Mao Jingli here.. is of age to take over again. Right Jingli..?" LuoQuan explained flawlessly, but his heart was in turmoil.
This mans a has a high cultivation level and knows the past Chief, I better play this carefully and figure out his motives for entering SwayLeaf.
If he's here to stir trouble I'll just kill him.
"That's right Sir. LuoQuan has been the Chief for nine years, six months, and thirteen days. He's been dealing with the matters of this town since my fathers sickness." Mao Jingli stated promptly used to the two faced personality of LuoQuan.
"Ahh it the alcohol- wasn't it?.. Old Mao should've heeded my warning, his over indulging finally caught up to him. -Sigh- Jingli, send your Mother Yiyi my condolences."
A twinge of sorrow flashed through Jingli's eyes but passed before anyone noticed.
"Thank you Sir, I'll let her know of your kind words." Jingli bowed then looked at LuoQuan who sent him a knowing look.
"Sir.... have you found a place to stay for the night? LuoQuan is a wise and benevolent Chief, he's also been like a father figure to me and really took care of our town, when we were in need! We'd like it if you could join us for dinner tonight at the Chiefs Manor." Jingli invited with a hopeful gaze.
"It's Chen.. and I'd be happy to accept the invitation but... I'm only passing through, just finished collecting the supplies I needed for travel." He replied and walked toward the carriage.
"Oh such a shame, maybe next time Sir Chen it was nice chatting with—" A huge explosion suddenly interrupted Hue LuoQuan.
-BOOOM-
The ground shook and sent dust everywhere from the after effects of the explosion.
"Excuse me, Sir Chen I'll have to make a move first, its best if you go your own way now to avoid any trouble. Jingli let's go!" LuoQuan dismissed Chen.
"I understand, Thanks for the hospitality Chief." Chen retorted back respectfully and entered the carriage.
LuoQuan ran in the direction of the commotion, but took a moment to look back. He sighed with relief when he noticed Chen's carriage going in the opposite direction.
"You did well Jingli, I'll let you have ten extra minutes during this week's visit." He punched Jingli's shoulder roughly and laughed. "That is if you complete all your assignments by then."
Mao Jingli ignored LuoQuan's reward and provocations. He knew this two faced bastard wouldn't give him extra time to visit his mother.
But that man, he knew his family before all this.. then shouldn't he have known of Yiyi's passing...
. . .
Dust clouded the streets.. there was fire and lighting damage all around the stores. The ground was covered in debris and craters.
A beautiful girl stood tall without a speck of dirt on her plain dress. She emitted an aggressive yet poised aura as she smiled.
That icy smile sent shivers down the spines of the towns people watching... just what who was this beautiful....Monster.
The girl smiled evilly at the two girls she held by the neck...
