Chapter 15 - Chapter 014 - Justice

"Awe you're were injured again" A girl began to talk as Bop rummaged through Policeman Bob's memories.

"Do not worry miss Riley, as a robot I cannot get injured" Since Bop saw the events of the memory through Bob's perspective, to Bop, it looked like he was the one talking to Riley.

[So this is Riley] Bop thought.

"Nothing a good repair can't fix" Policeman Bob assured Riley.

"If the HPPC did their jobs in the first place, you wouldn't need a repair" Riley frustratedly said as she stared at the rundown robot in front of her.

Bob was apparently attacked by a group of kids aspiring to become thugs...

As Riley stared at him Bob replied to her: "My floaters have been compromised, I might not be able to go on missions for the time being" *Sad Beeping*

"Hehehe" Riley giggled when Bob accidentally made sad beeping noises. After she gave him that A.I. Core she bought, he had become more expressive since.

"Maybe this is a blessing in disguise! Yeah, I mean now we can change your floaters without breaking our patrol time now!" Riley optimistically said as she revealed a box to Bob.

"Change my floaters?" Bob asked.

"Tada~!" Riley opened the box and she revealed to Bop a rusted floater labeled Gx.

"Although it's still a Floater version, it's much faster than what you had. Plus I got it almost for free! My dad said it was part of his old machines"

"Faster than before? Meaning I can catch more criminals now?!" Bob showed rare excitement.

"Ughhh, we haven't even captured one though, but yeah. Maybe we can capture our first villain after this upgrade" Riley positively thought.

Bop watched the many times Riley and Bob interacted, and he didn't know why but it gave him great heartache to watch the two of them. It was as if he remembered something from his past...

Plus the two's story was just really heartbreaking without Bop's prior memories in the first place.

"Those damn corrupt bastards! How could they not send back-up! It's the Orochi gang were talking about here!" Riley angrily shouted as no back-up came to help.

"Haaaa...." Bop sighed as he realized he was nearing the end of Bob's Strongly Embedded memories. Bop realized as he watched these memories that most of Bop's strong memories always had Riley in them...

If the memories were about to end, it wasn't hard for Bop to guess what happens at the end.

"We shouldn't have entered without back-up" A robotic voice that surprised him came up from behind Bop.

"Wah! Oh, it's just you... W-Wait!? Why are you here?" Bop asked Policeman Bob who was watching the memory along with him. It was a strange feeling for Bop, it was like having two minds in the same body as they were experiencing the memories from Bob's body.

"I don't know? Maybe because it's my body?" Policeman Bob truthfully answered.

"Oh, I see... NOT! I thought I temporarily shut you down?" Bop asked Policeman Bob's consciousness.

"I bypassed the programming..." Policeman Bob explained.

"HOW?!"

"...With willpower?" Policeman Bob too didn't know how he could talk to Bop right now.

As Bop watched Riley's eyes fade away he couldn't help but cry from how sad things turned out.

*Sob Sob*

"There there, it's ok" Policeman Bob comforted Bop.

"Wait!? Why am I the one who's crying! It's your life ya moron!" Bop retorted.

"Robots... I, cannot cry... Even if I want to"

"AAAHHH" *Sob Sob* Bop couldn't help but cry for Bob's life. [How sad was this robot going to make me?!] Bop angrily thought as he removed the chord from his neck connecting to Policeman Bob's memories.

"Now we can have a proper conversation..." Bop looked at the robot in front of him.

"Don't you want revenge?" Bop stared seriously into Policeman Bob's camera.

"Re-venge?" Bob was puzzled from Bob's question.

"From what I saw, those Police guys never treated you correctly. And it was probably their fault Riley got killed in the first place! Don't you want revenge?" Bop asked.

"I... How would I catch other criminals if I'm a criminal myself?" Policeman Bob averted Bop's question as he too was having "angry" thoughts towards the unfair police system that got innocent policemen like Riley killed and gave the lazy corrupt one's power.

"Riley wanted justice to prevail... I cannot become a criminal" Policeman Bob sighed as he denied his desire to get revenge on those abusive officers who kicked and hurt him while ignored the fact he did most of the laborious jobs around...

[Maybe I just really miss Riley] Policeman Bob thought as he tried to suppress the raging desire he had to make the HCCP clean.

"How would you find this "Justice" thingy Riley was so crazy about if you don't commit some sacrifices?! Riley said "Justice" was important to catch every criminal there is, and what better way to catch a criminal than to be ONE? Am I right?" Bop began to give Policeman Bob a passionate speech as he was SEVERELY misunderstanding what Riley meant when she talked about Justice.

"Heres my plan. I help you escape the HCCP's programming, escape with me and I'll get you upgraded to the latest specs! I mean come on, how hard is it to get Advanced Cores right? I already have an Intermediate One!" Bop gravely misunderstood the values of the A.I. Cores as he didn't know there were only 100 Hypertrains in the whole HPG.

The Hypertrains were a huge government project that took more than 30% of the HPG's annual income for almost a century! The 100 Hypertrains had 10 Carts each, meaning each had 100 Advanced A.I. Cores and 1000 Intermediate A.I. Cores. And it took the HPG, an empire that spanned almost a quarter of the known Universe 30% of their income for 97 years to get those 1100 A.I. Cores! Take that into perspective...

Bop didn't know that the difference between the three levels of A.I. Cores were like an ocean and a droplet of water.

Sure a defective Simple A.I. core might still be afforded by a newbie police officer, but even if an Advanced A.I. Core was defective, whole planets, and maybe even solar systems would still fight for them...

The whole bulk of the HyperCop's development was supposed to be the development of an almost Advanced level A.I. Core that was cheap, affordable for the government, and would fit the jobs of a policeman perfectly.

So if an Advanced A.I. Core was at a 1000% efficiency at every job and an Intermediate A.I. Core was 500% efficient at every job. The HPPC basically wanted to create an Intermediate A.I. Core that was 1000% efficient in Police duty. An Intermediate Core whose very purpose was to police, giving it that 1000% edge.

Hence the HPPC announced the HyperCops were to be outfitted with "Advance A.I. Cores" to the public to justify the large Annual Budget they had (Which they planned to embezzle by the way...)

"Ohhh, amazing!" Sadly for the simple-minded Bob he was easily swayed by Bop's rhetoric.

"Then after we get you outfitted in the best hardware I help you find this "Justice" thingy AND BAM! We capture every criminal in the galaxy!" Bop gestured.

"...You're a genius!" The gullible Policeman Bob exclaimed.

"Hoo boy. I don't know why, but people keep on asking me to find these weird things... First, it was Beep's otaku sword (Freedom) and now this "Justice" thingy... Maybe I wasn't a janitor in the first place... maybe I'm a shopping assistant instead!" Bop grumbled as he unknowingly started the great hunt for the Treasures of the Universe...

I mean, he already has the "Truth" - The Thesarius...
