Chapter 62 - I Joined

"I joined." Syria said nonchalantly. Calder raised his eyebrow in disbelief. Syria sighed. "Well I came in when I wasn't supposed to… well I was supposed to do something else but I heard that Nana Gi was the one teaching the class and well, well," Syria said as a blush touched her cheeks. She averted her gaze and stared at the floor. Calder sighed and picked Syria up around the waist. Syria let a small scream causing Calder to chuckle. He then gingerly placed her on top of the counter that Nana Gi was using to place her ingredients on.

"Sit and tell me, what were you supposed to be doing?" Calder asked as he placed a hand on either side of Syria. She looked up into his face and blushed as her plump, red lips slowly parted. "I was…. I was going to do something important." Syria said a little breathlessly. "Really? BUT you left it to be here with me?" Calder said with a teasing smile. "What?!" Syria said in a panic.

"This was the date I planned to have with you. Since you showed up, I'm here and you're here… So we're finally on our date." Calder said cautiously hoping that his words wouldn't cause her to run away again. Even if she tried she was trapped in between his arms. Syria went silent, she started to bit down on her bottom lip and Calder's eyes slowly went downwards and stopped on them. A small growl escaped his lips as he watched Syria tease her bottom lip with her teeth.

He wished that the two kisses he gave her actually lasted long. That he had more time to really kiss her and taste everything. ".... I guess we are on one... but I ruined it." Syria said causing Calder to snap back from his fantasies and catch Syria dropping her gaze to her hands.

Calder's heart was instantly shot with cupid's arrow. He couldn't understand how someone so seductive could look so cute at the same time. Calder took a very shaky breath in and tried to calm down. It was a miracle that Syria let him stay so close to her. When his heart started to final settle down he placed a soft kiss on top of Syria's head then stepped back. Syria's gaze shot up and she caught sight of Calder looking completely embarrassed.

He had brought up his arm and covered the lower half of his face with it. His face was completely flushed and his eyes were slightly glazed over. "S-s-s-so how did all this happen?" Calder asked as he averted his gaze. "Oh… It's because I showed up." Syria repeated after she got over the shock. Calder calmed down and brought down his arm. He looked at Syria and waited until she continued

"After you left Lady Britille wouldn't stop crying. She said she was worried about her lady in waiting and the others tried to calm her down." Syria started. Calder furrowed his brows as he stared at Syria. "So how was that your fault? An accident is an accident and Veronica was the one that was hurt not her. If Lady Britille was worried, why didn't she follow me and see if her lady in waiting was alright?" Calder asked.

Syria shook her head no. "She was too overwhelmed by the situation. I... I know I was. I froze when she got hurt." Syria admitted. Calder swallowed back his words. He knew Syria's back story and had to pretend that he knew nothing, it was hard. Instead he half hugged himself and averted his gaze. "Most people can't stomach something like that... So I guess that makes sense." Calder mumbled.

Syria went silent causing the air around them to turn awkward. "S-so tell me! h-how did Esai get so messy?" Calder asked. Syria started to wholeheartedly laugh. Calder brought his gaze to Syria and looked at her smiling face. He instantly blushed and a a gentle spread across his face. "I, I think he, oh my gosh, he heh he, he was stalling for you." Syria said as she started to calm down. "Oh?" Calder said as he turned around and started to clean up the mess.

"Yes!" Syria shouted breathlessly. "Now why would he stall for me? If anything I thought he would try to make the situation less awkward so that people weren't afraid to keep baking." Calder said. "Well that would make sense but," Syria said as she brushed back the tears that collected in her eyes. "Lady Britille insist-um-cough, suggested that if his Majesty was her partner she would feel safer and be brave enough to keep going on in class." Syria continued.

"Oh." Calder said. "Did my brother agree?" Calder asked in a small voice, he wondered if Syria felt the same way. "He completely agreed! So he decided to be Nana Gi's assistant and give his strength to the entire class not just Lady Britille!" Syria shouted happily. Calder was dumbstruck and froze bent over with a mixture of floor dough in his hands. "No!" Calder gasped.

"It gets better! So I'm paired up with Lady Britille and his Majesty decided to make every more that Nana Gi instructed into show sort of show of strength!" Syria laughed then fixed her facial expression to try an imitate a cool Esai. "Don't worry, I can scoop this sauce up with ease." Syria said with a voice lower then her own. Calder spit trying his best not to laugh.

"I bet Nana Gi was not impressed." Calder said as he tried not to laugh. "No she wasn't!" Syria said excitedly. "That old lady knows how to use her lungs! She asked him to grab flour, sugar and a carton of eggs instead! He was way over the top trying to make everyone feel safe and comfortable! So he gave her a deep bow and said, 'It will be my pleasure to help anyone in need.' Heh, heheheh, heheh, and it gets better!"

"He happily struts over to the counter grabs all the ingredients from the table and carries everything back! Nana Gi was so furious when she saw him while the rest of didn't know what he was thinking or how he carried it all. Honestly I thought at first he forgot what he was supposed to get, that is until what happened next! I would have never in my whole life thought something like this would have happened!" Syria said as she waved her hands across the air to show the room.
