Chapter 45 - Don't Panic

"Especially when you took up the pen name Red. Your mother started to get suspicious of what you were doing and the two of you fought." Esai explained. "I, I think I vaguely remember that." Calder said as fragments of visions flashed before Calder's eyes. He saw a familiar hand waving in the air as a dark figure spoke to him in a furious tone.

"You will not go!" The familiar voice shouted. Calder cringed. "It was a few months before you said you were going to join the war." Calder said as he started breathing heavily. "That's right." Esai confirmed. "But you said your-ugh." Calder hissed. Esai pulled Calder into his embrace and stroked the back of his head. "Don't." He said in a warning tone.

"E-s-a-i." Calder said with a strained voice. "Sorry baby brother." Esai said as he then raised his hand and hit the cartoid artery on his neck. "But you don't need to remember things right now. Not yet at least. Wait until you're stronger." Esai said as Calder's vision started to go black.

Calder opened his eyes. He was surprised the last thing he remembered was his head hurting and laying in bed but now, now he was laying on the ground. Staring up at a very black ceiling. He slowly started to get off the ground and stand up. He was surprised with how light his body felt. He looked around and saw that there was an endless, dark void surrounding him.

His eyes grew round and wide, he knew exactly where he was. It was inside his head! He held is breath and strained his ears, waiting to her the alluring voice but nothing came. He let out his breath it was long and heavy, relaxing as he did. "Well what do I do now?" Calder asked himself. "Calder did you come to play with Esai again?" A sweet, crystal clear voice called out from within the darkness.

Calder's heart started to pump, he could hear it echoing around him. "Calder?" The sweet voice called out. Calder licked his lips. "Y-ya, yes, yes I did." He called out nervously. The sweet voice started to giggle and a small light emerged from within the darkness. "You really love paying with Esai, don't you?" The sweet voice asked.

Calder was automatically drawn to the light like a moth to a flame. "Yes, yes I love playing with Esai. I'm so happy he is my big brother." He yelled as he started to pick up his speed. The light was starting to grow in size. "He might be a little cold to you right now but give him some time. He will come around." The sweet voice said with a light laugh. "...der!"

Calder stopped running. He looked back and searched around with his eyes. "Calder, are you alright?" The sweet voice called out. "Y-yes second mother." Calder called out absent-mindedly. Then it hit him, he looked back at the light and it started to grow bigger in size, his eyes trembled as he watched the light expand in one giant motion. He blinked and saw a person sitting under a the shade of a lush tree. She was a fair skinned woman with long, wavy golden brown hair, fuchsia coloured eyes. She looked so friendly with a gentle smile on her face.

She stretched out her hand and waited for Calder to move forward. Calder looked at her hand and then at the woman's face. "Second mother...." He whispered as he took one step forward. "Calder!" Someone yelled from behind him. Calder stopped. "Syria?" Calder called out. "It's okay Calder. You can go back." Esai's mother said as she lowered her hand. "S-second mother...." Calder said pitifully.

"It's alright. You are very loved now. I'm so happy for you. I can't do much right now but I will always be here for you, you and my lovely Esai." She said as the light started to dim. "Calder!" Syria shouted. "Calder!" Esai joined in. "Second mother! I'm sorry!" Calder shouted. "He's waking up...." Landis said as Calder's eyes started to flutter. "Oh thank G*d." Esai sighed as he slumped onto the bed. "I can't believe that worked." Rutley called out.

"Thank you Lady Syria, you may leave now.' Esai said in tired voice. "Y-yes your Majesty." Lady Syria said politely. "W-wait. Syria?" Calder called out in a state of confusion. Lady Syria stopped and looked back at Calder. His face was a ghastly white, his lips were chapped and cracked, heavy bags were under his eyes and his cheeks became hollowed but his amethyst eyes sparkled with something foreign to her.

Her breath was instantly taken away as she looked into Calder's eyes. "Yes?" She whispered. Calder smiled. "I heard you calling my name." He said as he slowly started to close his eyes. "Landis!" Esai shouted as he jumped off the bed. "Lady Syria please try to keep him awake! We can't let him slip back!" Landis commanded as he moved out of the way. Lady Syria looked at war with herself. She looked at Landis then Esai, hoping they would say something to ease her guilt.

"Thank you." Calder whispered calling Lady Syria's attention. Calder's peaceful smile gave her the push she needed and she rushed forward just as Esai opened his mouth. Lady Syria grabbed Calder's hand and hugged it tightly. Calder's eyes shot open instantly. A flush strated to climb up from the base of Calder's neck and slowly spread upwards as his jaw slacked.

"Thank you Lady Syria." Landis said as he moved in quickly and started to examine him. "Can Rutley not use his magic and push out whatever that woman did to him?" Esai asked in a frustrated tone. "Esai I already said I can't, he's too weak! If I did he might die!" Rutley shouted. "I asked Landis!" Esai shouted back. "Rutley's correct. If he did, Calder would die instantly." Landis reported. Esai clicked his tongue as his brows furrowed.

"Esai?" Calder called out as he tried to distract himself from Lady Syria. He could already feel his passion awakening and he really didn't want to be embarrass himself or Lady Syria in front of everyone. "Esai looked at Calder and instantly softened. "Ya." He answered. "Second mother said she will always be there for you and me." Calder said with a bittersweet smile.
