"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" Yoon In Jae presses his palms together and exclaims, "How come two of you are here?"
"I saw a suspicious man loitering around the university." Mun Soyoon smirks, "So I brought him here."
"I was leaving." Sin Jeong-Hyuk glares at her. "Why did I have to meet you?"
"Why are you always in a bad mood?" Yoon In Jae pats his friend's shoulder. "You didn't even visit me on the first day of this pub."
"It's doomed," Sin Jeong-Hyuk mutters. "If we don't come here, would you be serving anyone? I wonder why you haven't gone bankrupt already."
Mun Soyoon slams her hand on the table and laughs. "He doesn't need to. His father is super-rich."
"Isn't your father the same?" Yoon In Jae narrows his eyes on her. "You are the heiress of M Corp."
"Who cares about these temporary things? I like being poor more." Mun Soyoon leans back and folds her arms behind her head. "The richer I am, the more arrogant I get. If I am poor, nothing binds me."
"Poverty does bind you miserably." Yoon In Jae shrugs. He looks at his friend who has a long face. "What is going on with you, Jeong-Hyuk?"
Sin Jeong-Hyuk takes a deep long breath. "I found Daydream."
Silence --
That is broken by the footsteps of a new waitress. Chang Seol keeps her eyes on the wine bottle and the glasses on the tray she's holding. Sweat glistens on her forehead. She doesn't want to screw this.
Her heart is relieved when she manages to reach her destination. She puts down on the table. When she raises her head, the smile on her lips vanishes.
"..."
Her eyes meet his dark and emotionless eyes. Sin Jeong-Hyuk's eyes don't show any recognition. She has nothing to say either.
"Did you get a job here?" Mun Soyoon places her hand on her elbow. "Chang Seol?"
"Sunbae?" This can't get more awkward. Chang Seol blinks her eyes. Why… there are so many pubs in this city. Why these two are here?
"You two know each other." Yoon In Jae's finger sways between them like a compass. He widens his eyes. "Ah! She goes to the same university you go to, Soyoon."
"We also live in the same house." Mun Soyoon grins at him. "Don't mistreat her, Yoon In Jae."
"Do I ever mistreat my employees?" Yoon In Jae scoffs at her. "I am not like you, you two-faced witch."
Mun Soyoon grimaces at him. "If you don't keep your mouth shut, I will burn your pub down to ashes."
Chang Seol peers at Sin Jeong-Hyuk. He is gazing down at his phone, scrolling something. She bites her lower lip as deep lines form on her forehead. It's no big deal. No big deal. "Boss, please enjoy."
"Don't go." Yoon In Jae turns his head toward her. "Take a seat with us. Since you are Soyoon's friend, you are also my friend."
"In Jae, are you sure that you want her as your friend?" Sin Jeong-Hyuk's voice interrupts her before she could decline. "I don't think that she knows the meaning of friendship."
What does he mean by that? Chang Seol stares at him, knitting her brows slightly. Is he mad at her?
"Did you fight with her again?" Mun Soyoon scowls at Sin Jeong-Hyuk. "Give her a break."
"Jeong-Hyuk fighting with someone?" Yoon In Jae eyes Chang Seol with interest. "You must be quite something if you can make him react this way."
Chang Seol doesn't want to pick a fight with Mister at her new workplace. So, she decides not to comment. She gives a little bow and turns around to walk away.
"She's Daydream." Sin Jeong-Hyuk declares, "The singer whom I have been looking for the last three years."
She halts in her track. How…
"A-Are you serious?" Yoon In Jae gasps. "I thought that she would never be found."
"It's funny because she's been living with me for a month," Sin Jeong-Hyuk replies as if Chang Seol isn't there. "I didn't expect her to keep lying to me."
Mun Soyoon glances at Chang Seol's trembling back. "Oppa, I think that you should stop."
"Yes, I want to stop," Sin Jeong-Hyuk exhales, feeling exhausted. "I should have stopped when I found out her first lie."
Chang Seol lets out a laugh. She unbinds the apron and folds it neatly. Walking back to the table with a smile that doesn't meet her eyes, she takes a look at Mister's face. Sin Jeong-Hyuk meets her gaze. His dark eyes are full of cold fury. She doesn't bother saying a word to him.
"Mr Yoon." She returns the apron to Yoon In Jae. "I don't think that I can work here.
"Chang Seol, let's keep personal life away from professional life." Yoon In Jae tries to give back the apron to her with a polite smile on his face. "I didn't hire you because you are their house-mate. Don't worry about it, okay?"
"Mr Yoon, I don't think that I can be professional today." She steps away from him. Her voice is sharp and cold. "I don't want to work with you because you are his friend."
"Seol, Seol…" Mun Soyoon calls after her but she doesn't stop.
She doesn't know how he found out but he didn't have to call her out like this at her new workplace. He knew how much she needed this job. After grabbing her bag, she leaves the pub and heads straight to the bus station.
"What's the time right now?" She murmurs as she glances at her wristwatch. There's still time. She can return to the university. She doesn't want to go back to the share-house for sure. There's Oh Ji Ye.
She can't afford the next month's rent anyway.
