Chapter 21 - Apprentice

A few days ago - old man's shop

A tall muscular figure entered the shop, the man had glanced in the shop with his emerald eyes sparkling in the sunlight. Taking note of all of the weapons and various equipment, he noticed that none of them were complete. 'Knowing the temperament of this old geezer, doesn't he make all of these as custom to the bearer? Hmm, I wonder if he will even sell them without the remaining members.'

As Ji was lost in his own thoughts while gazing at each weapon that hung on the plain walls, the old man watched fervently at the young prince.

'Interesting…'

"So what can I do for your majesty, crowned prince Ao Ji of the Dragon Clan? Perhaps you are in need of a new weapon? I highly doubt anything in my shop can compare to that of the higher realm. Or is this for someone else? You should know I only do custom modifications for your majesty, you would need to bring them here." The old man flatly stated with no emotion whatsoever. He was not afraid of the dragon clan. 'Who else can they find to make weapons as I? The quality may be better in the higher realm, but none can imbue the magic quality tailored to the user such as I.'

Oh this old man absolutely had the right to be as a pompous and arrogant man. The way he imbues the weapons just from a glance at the user, the weapons would never reject the owner and instead it is as if a contract is born between owner and weapon. That weapon will not listen to the command of anyone else. This skill was exclusive to this old man, he has had countless people request apprenticeship but has never accepted such a request. To him there is a skill that can not be gained through knowledge, it something that one is just born with and thus far, in his many years in this world, he has been the only one.

Ji furrowed his brows at the old man's statement for a moment then replied' "Honourable sir, this crowned prince came to you to help my companions in an urgent matter which would tell the fate of this world. I had no intention of offending your personage in this life. There must be some way to have a basic all user friendly version of these made, I can give specifics of each member of course and their abilities as well as whatever else you may need of course."

While in deep thought, the old man decided to test out this young crowned prince. 'Let us see if my intuition is correct.' "Very well, come with me…" stepping into the courtyard in the rear of the shop, the old man handed him three weapons. Of these three one had a faint magical aura the thing about this though is that not even a high ranked magical person could detect this, even if they could they absolutely could not determine the material used to create it. The test was simple, he had to tell him which one and what was in it. As an added bonus he would request the element it would permeate off of it.

The first was a very elegant weapon, long, slender, in the shape of a rapier, it gleamed in the sunlight, sharp on both edges as it maintained a slender form throughout and gave off an aua as if a young master would wield it. The second was a brutish styled weapon, it was a bit shorter than the first however, though slender at the base it thickened towards the tip and had a flat tip instead of a pointed on the tip, it also held a double edge. One could imagine that this weapon may belong to a ruffian or bandit. The third was a very long bladed weapon with a slight curve, it could be said to be as long as a man from hilt to tip. Unlike the other two it only had a single side with a sharp edge. The hilt was beautifully wrapped by a type of fabric rope, and the guard held an ornate design carved into it. This one Ji couldn't take his eyes off of.

At this point the old man gave no instructions, he simply observed. Ji walked over to the three weapons and immediately bee lined it to the third katana styled weapon. As he held it in his hands he removed it from its sheath. Raising it into the sky with both hands firmly gripped onto the hilt, he then paused, at this magnificent weapon his eyebrows frowned. Bringing back towards his body he stared intently and then slowly shifted towards the old man.

"Old man, tell me something, did you perhaps… what I mean is, I'm sorry but why is there a phoenix feather imbued in this weapon? Is this… no, it can't be why would you put a chaos stone along with that feather?" As Ji continued to stare dumbfounded at the sword in his hands, the old man's face lit up! Just before he had the chance to speak, Ji raised the sword, flew at one of the dummies at the side, slashed it furiously and watched as it erupted in black flames.

The force that came from this attack immediately tossed the old man back a few meters, as he recovered he stood there wide eyed at the force that came off of that weapon. He hadn't been able to find its owner in over four centuries! Which was why he only makes custom weapons now. 'Well, well, well… it finally found its owner did it? And his deductive reasoning at sensing these weapons… it's beyond me.' Raising his gaze to the old man with the most shocked expression ever, "It's imbued with a dark element?"

"Well young prince, you have found your weapon. As for your request, if you agree to become my disciple once your business is done I shall make anything you need with the information of your companions."
