Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: First Encounter

I was walking down an alley, when I saw a boy around my age running from the cops. The cops got left behind, and he seemed to be doing fine on his own. Then I saw one of the cops catching up to him. Just as the teenage boy was about to pass me I grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the cops' sight. "What the fu-" he tried to say before I placed my hand over his mouth and gave him a stern look.

When the cops finally passed I removed my hand and took a step back. He pulled out a gun and placed the barrel to my forehead. "Who the fuck are you?" he asked with venom in his voice. I could tell he was trying to be intimidating but it didn't work that well. I smirked and said "I'm Renée, and I was just trying to help. Who are you?"

He lifted one eyebrow and slowly removed the barrel. "I'm Nathan. Thank you for your help." That was the last thing he said before turning around and running away. I stood there for a minute thinking about what just happened. Once my thoughts were gathered, I decided to walk home.

I was back a minute passed curfew, but dad didn't seem to mind. I entered my room and immediately flopped on my bed, exhausted from the long day I had. "How was your walk?" my sister/best friend, Morgan, asked from her bed. We shared a room. "It was interesting." I said with a slight smile. She smiled and said "Oh?" I recapped her on what happened.

"Oh dang. He pointed a gun at you and you were still a smart ass." she laughed at her own comment. "Hell yeah I was." I looked over at the time it was 9:30pm. "Bro, I gotta go to bed. I work tomorrow at 6 in the morning."  I said. "Oh dang." she said. I started to lay down but remembered something, "One more thing Bro. He was pretty damn good looking." I said. "Oh, Really. How good looking? Scale of one to ten." She said. I rolled my eyes, "I don't have an exact number, but it's sure as hell way more than ten." I went to bed after that.
