"How was your date with Nathan?" Morgan asked. "It was great we have a lot in common, motorcycles are a lot of fun, the coffee was great, and he gave me his number. He wants to hang out again." I said.
"That's great. How much do you like him?" she asked. "Well, I like him a lot. I like him more than I liked Willie." I said. Her eyebrows shot up, "Really?". I nodded, "Yeah."
"How much do you think he likes you?" she asked. "Well, I'm the first person he's ever like. He hates people more than I do." I said. "Oh, ok. Yeah, he really likes you." she said.
I went to work early a few days later. We weren't too busy today because it was really hot. "Black coffee with sugar, please." I heard a familiar voice say. I turned around, "Nathan!" I said in excitement. "Hey, you wanna go out again?" he asked. "Yeah. Where are we going this time?" I asked. "I'm gonna let you decide this time." he said. "What about Forney Park? There's a great trail we could use to go for a walk." I said. He nodded, "Sure."
I gave him his coffee and he went to his usual spot and pulled out a book. Damn, he is good looking I thought to myself. Another customer appeared and I took their order. Nathan only stayed for an hour today. The day went by pretty fast.
I got home and did my usual routine. When I was done, I flopped on my bed and read my book. I was reading for about 30 minutes before my Mom yelled for me. I went to see what she needed. "Thaw some meat for dinner. Then bring me a Dr. Pepper please." she said.
I pulled out some pork chops to thaw and brought her a Dr. Pepper. "Thank you." she said. I nodded, "No problem." I keep wondering when they'll ask me to move out. I'm 18 now, I have a job and my own truck. They never bring up the idea of me moving out.
I plopped back down on my bed and started reading my book again. I'm reading Twilight, again. Twilight is a love story between Bella Swan, a human, and Edward Cullen, a vampire. They fall madly in love and go through a lot of trouble because of it. Twilight is my favorite vampire love story. Reading it makes me feel closer to my Mom.
I read for another hour before I had to check the meat. It was thawed so I preheated the oven to 400 degrees and placed the pork chops on a baking sheet. I stabbed each pork chop with a fork 4 times and put a little bit of butter on each one. Then I added a few dashes of paprika, Italian seasoning, and rosemary on each one. Then I placed them in the oven for 15 minutes.
While the pork chops were in the oven, I started on the rice. I poured 4 cups of water into a pot and placed it on the stove to bring it to a boil. Once the water was boiling, I poured 4 cups of rice into the water and stirred it. Then I took the rice off the hot surface and covered the pot. I left it there for 5 minutes.
While waiting on the rice, I grabbed a can of green beans from the pantry. I opened the can and drained the juice into the sink. Then I poured the green beans in a microwave safe bowl. Once they were in a bowl, I put them in the microwave for 2 minutes.
When dinner was ready, I turned off the oven and called everyone. They all showed up in the kitchen to get food. "Thank you Renée." Nana said. I grabbed a plate from the cabinet, "You're welcome." Dinner seemed to go by pretty fast.
After dinner and chores, my stress was starting to get to me, so I went to go see Dad. "Hey Dad, can I go for a drive." I asked. He checked the time, "Be back by 8:30." he said. I checked the time that gave me an hour and a half. "Thank you." I said.
I got in my truck and turned up the music. One of my favorite songs was playing which helped with my bad mood. I drove all over Crandall and into Seagoville. I barely made it back in time.
I pulled into the driveway and saw a beautiful black Harley Davidson motorcycle with it's driver standing next to it. I got out of the car. "Hey Nathan." I said. "Hey." he said in a relieved voice. I approached him and lifted an eyebrow.
"I'm happy you're here, but why are you here?" I asked. "Someone saw me with you, someone I owe a lot of money to. He threatened you because I haven't given him his money yet. I got worried and had to come see that you were ok. Your parents don't know I'm here." he said.
"Well, I'm ok. If this dumbass shows up, I'll beat him to death or something. I know it's a lot, but trust me when I say I can defend myself." I said. He nodded, "Ok, I'll see you Saturday." I watched him leave.
I walked into the house. On the way to my room, Dad stopped me. "Was that Nathan outside?" he asked. "Um, yeah. He wanted to see me." I said. He gave me a look that said he knew I was keeping something from him. "Bring me a water." he said. I nodded and grabbed a water bottle for him. When I gave it to him he said, "Mom, You, and I need to talk tomorrow." I cocked an eyebrow, "Ok. Good night Dad and Mom. " I said before leaving their room.
When I got to my room I told Morgan what Nathan told me. "Aww, he cares about you." she said. I felt my face get red, "Yeah." She gave me a mischievous grin, "And you care about him too." she said. I scoffed, "That can't be proven." I said. She smirked, "Not yet." I rolled my eyes, "Whatever."
I pulled out my phone to text Michael, my 21 year old brother.
R: Yo
M: sup
R: I've been hanging out with a guy lately
M: oh?
R: We like each other. We've been on one date, and we're gonna go on another one.
M: oh really? and who is this guy?
R: His name is Nathan and he is off limits.
M: I AM NOT GAY!
R: YES YOU ARE!
M: oh my god, no I'm NOT!
R: Whatever. Anyways, I think Nathan and I might date eventually.
M: are you ready to date?
R: Only if I date Nathan.
M: wow, only for Nathan.
R: Yup
M: well ok then
I checked the time and realized I should go to bed, I still have to work tomorrow.
R: Yo, I'm gonna go to bed. We can talk about this some other time
M: Night
R: Good night
I went to bed and once again as soon as I fell asleep I was pulled into another nightmare. I was screaming and kicking. Someone was putting me in a straightjacket. Once I was in the straightjacket they put me in a padded room. Once I was secure, they started showing me my worst fears. I don't know why they are doing this, they just are. My alarm for work wakes me up and I drag myself out of bed.
I get ready for work and then head out to my truck. I get stuck in traffic on my way to work. I get to work on time, which for me is late. Early is on time, and on time is late. My boss gives me a questioning look when I enter the building. I give him a one word explanation, "Traffic." He nods in understanding.
My first customer is a moron who can't pronounce anything correctly and she couldn't decide what to get so she left. My next customer is a girl I knew from school. "Oh my god, Renée? I didn't know you work here." she said in excitement. Kennly is a very annoying girl who never left me alone.
"What can I get for you today, Kennly?" I asked. "Um, a caramel frappuccino." she said in her annoyingly happy voice. I started making her drink and she would not stop talking. Today is going to be a long day.
When I got home from work, I had a lot of cleaning to do. When I was done I made dinner, then I had to do laundry. It's been a long day and now that I'm done with everything, I'm going to bed.
