Phoenix and Jinhai looked at Evelyn with pained expressions on their faces. It was difficult to see her like this, so broken up. They've always known her to be strong and capable.
Phoenix knew that Evelyn's alcohol limit was twenty-one shots. She only had fifteen yet she was already like this. She put her hand on Evelyn's back to gently rub it.
"Why did he do this? Why?" Evelyn cried pitifully. Jinhai and Phoenix let her cry without disturbing her. They could tell how much pain she was in to get her to this state of despair. They could only stand there rubbing her back.
After a while she passed out with her head on her arms on the table.
"What are we going to do?" Phoenix asked Jinhai quietly. He didn't answer her for a moment silently watching Evelyn.
"Make him pay." His voice was menacing.
"How?" She asked looking at him.
"I'm going to make him regret everything he's done to her. Pay him back tenfold for every ounce of pain she endured because of him." He swore.
"What do you plan to do?" He asked her.
"Make sure she's okay." She said turning to Evelyn's passed out form.
"You weren't there the past five years. When she suffered her miscarriages it took nearly all the fight out of her. I can't let her go through that again, especially now that he betrayed her." Phoenix said.
"If she's still the Evelyn I know, she'll turn that betrayal into hate. She'll use it to tear him down." He said. Phoenix have a small smile.
That was the Evelyn she knew as well. Evelyn treasured loyalty. Those who were loyal to her always received the best from her. Those who go against her never succeed. But those that turn on her? She makes sure they remember to never cross her again.
"Do you have Driver Chung's number?" He asked her. She nodded reaching into her pocket for her phone. She typed on it a couple of times before she handed it over with it unlocked at the contact page.
He took out his phone and typed into his phone. He then lifted his hand up to his ear. He waited a couple of rings before the phone picked up.
"Driver Chung, it's Jinhai. Evelyn is ready to go home now." Jinhai said into the phone.
"Where is Mrs. Cheng?" Driver Chung asked.
"She had a lot to drink tonight." He said. The phone was silent for a moment.
"Okay. I'll be there in ten minutes." Driver Chung said and hung up.
Jinhai turned to Phoenix as he pocketed his phone.
"He said he'll be here in 10 minutes. Is there a back exit?" He asked.
"Yes, I'll help you." She answered. They quickly put all the cups back into the tray and gathered Evelyn's things.
Jinhai took one of her arms and hooked it over his shoulders before he lifted her into his arms. She was lighter than he thought she would be.
Phoenix opened the door and signaled for him to follow her. He tucked Evelyn into his body holding her securely as he followed Phoenix. He was led through a door to an elevator. This must be the service elevator for the staff.
They were silent as they were next to each other. When they got to the first floor Phoenix led them through back exit. They walked to the side of the restaurant just steering clear of prying eyes.
"Let me know that you got her back okay. Actually where is she staying now? Did she go back to Wei Manor?" Phoenix asked him.
"She's staying at the Oasis for now." He said. They didn't have to wait long before he saw the car pull up.
"That's him," he said as he headed in that direction. Phoenix ran ahead of him and opened the door before Driver Chung could get out of the car.
"Is she okay?" He asked.
"She just needs rest," Phoenix answered as Jinhai gently set her inside and strapped her in. He gently shut the door. Phoenix handed him Evelyn's purse.
"Text me when you get back!" Phoenix said to him.
"I will. Good night." He replied.
"Good night. It was nice seeing you again, Driver Chung," she said.
"You too, Ms. Xu." Driver Chung replied before he ducked back into the car and drove off.
As she watched the car driver off she vowed to help Evelyn through this and get back at Shawn. No one hurts her Li Li.

IN THE CAR
Jinhai stared out the window as they headed back to the hotel. Neither Driver Chung nor Jinhai spoke. There was light music in the background most likely on for Evelyn's benefit.
Jinhai replayed the days events in his head.

THAT MORNING
This morning he was discussing the company's revenue with Zain when his brother got a call. When Zain dug his phone out Jinhai had expressed his displeasure at his brothers lack of professionalism.
His brother had taken glance at the Caller ID.
"It's Evelyn," he said before picking up. Jinhai's brows furrowed at his brother. Something didn't feel right. He knew what today was. She shouldn't be calling Zain today.
"Uh, I can clear my schedule. What do you need?" He heard his brother. Jinhai couldn't hear Evelyn's voice so he focused on Zain.
"Evelyn what's going on?" Zain was getting serious and that was never a good sign. All of a sudden Zain leapt from his chair and shouted.
"What!" Jinhai looked at his brother. Trying to find out what happened.
"I'll be there as soon as I can. Wait for me. Half an hour," Zain said then hung up.
"What happened?" Jinhai said sounding worried.
"She said that asshole wants a divorce." He replied.
"What!" Jinhai's reply was exactly the same as his brothers.
"She said she had a lot of bags. I need to get a car." Zain said.
"We're going to have to reschedule. Something came up." Zain said, a hint of his sarcasm coming out. Jinhai rolled his eyes.
"Go, I'll have a car ready for you by the time you get to the garage." Jinhai said. Zain waves a hand over his shoulder as he walked out of the door.
Jinhai made a call then sat down hard in his chair. 'Evelyn, what happened?' He thought.

PRESENT
Jinhai's phone vibrated in his pants and he pulled it out. It was a text from Zain.
Zain: Did you go see her?
Jinhai: Yes.
Zain: How is she? Jinhai almost laughed. This seemed very similar to when he wanted information earlier.
Jinhai: I need you to do some digging, quietly.
Zain: What's up.
Jinhai: I need you to find out what hospital Evelyn was staying at about two weeks ago.
Zain: ? She was in the hospital?
Jinhai: She said she had a miscarriage. He felt bad for telling Zain. It wasn't his place but he needed the information.
Zain: I'm going to kill him. Zain's reply made him smirk.
Jinhai: Get in line.
Zain: Jinhai how is she?
Jinhai: She's sleeping. She had a lot to drink.
Zain: She got drunk?
Jinhai: Yup.
Zain: Are you going to stay with her tonight?
Jinhai: Maybe.
Zain: You should. She shouldn't be alone right now. Mingxi will be there at 11 tomorrow morning.
Jinhai: Thanks.
Right after Jinhai sent the last text he felt Evelyn stirring next to him.
"What time is it? She asked. He turned to her.
"It's about 10." He said to her.
"We're almost there," Driver Chung said from the front seat. They could see the hotel from where they were.
"Oh okay." She sat up straighter. It took a couple of minutes before they pulled into the back entrance. Jinhai helped her out after the car stopped.
"Mrs. Cheng, when do you need me tomorrow?" Driver Chung asked her.
"Uh, 11," she replied turning to him.
"Okay. Mr. Li, do you need a lift?," he asked Jinhai.
"No, I drove myself earlier, but thank you." Jinhai said. He respected Driver Chung. He was very loyal to the Wei family and took care of Evelyn well.
"Good night," Driver Chung said to them.
"Good night," they replied. He got back into the car but didn't drive off until Jinhai and Evelyn got back inside the building.
