Path of Physics
Type I: Gate stable
By creating a wormhole and then changing it bit by bit until the position the other one would open is exactly where another wormhole generator is and then opening it a gate can be opened. (Whiteout the other generator it would become instable and collapse.) Moving throw that gate is instantaneous. The more energy is moved throw the gate, the more energy is needed to sustain it. It has the disadvantage that one can only open a gate to a place where another wormhole generator is, it also requires gigantic amounts of Computational Power, to first open it, after that lesser is required to keep it open.
Type II: Gate unstable
Create a wormhole and then use up gigantic amounts of energy to keep it open. Moving throw the gate is instantiations. The more energy is moved throw the gate, the more energy is needed to sustain it. It has the disadvantage that it needs gigantic amounts of energy to keep it open. Because there is no other wormhole generator to stabilize the exit it can collapse at any moment, even then when it has more than enough energy to keep it open.
FTL-Communication:
By opening a "small" wormhole to a reroute station (think of it like a telephone switching system) and sending only information, no matter, even small spaceships can communicate FTL. The energy needed for that is produced by an onboard fusion reactor.
Path of Psionics
Type I: Gate stable
By forming a psionic connection whit other beings, a gate can be created. Moving throw that gate is instantaneous. The more energy is moved throw the gate, the more energy it needs to sustain itself. It has the disadvantage that one can only connect whit places where other beings one has a link whit are.
Type II: Warping
By opening a gate to the Shroud and then moving in it one can ignore the limitation of the Speed of Light as such a limit does not exist there. To accelerate one just needs to use more energy. To again drop out of the Shroud a gate to the physical universe must be opened. It has the disadvantage that it is not instantaneous, but one can go everywhere whit enough energy.
