I was so embarrassed I dashed outside almost colliding with drunk Birdie who was whooping all the time " birdie is flying". He stopped me and held my hand extending them like wings and said " Lily, will also fly". Zack came behind me. He pulled Birdie by his nape and said " you have started your flying phase that means you are ready to crash let me take you back". He turned to me " Lily go inside and see if anyone else is this much drunk and help them come down while I take him and prepare our car.
I went inside and saw Don slumped over snoring Chet and Monkey was sober enough to sing another song. While Panda and Derek already left to enjoy more of their romance time. I pulled Monkey to carry Don who was the heavy one while I carried Chet downstairs. Seeing me coming down Zack ran to me to carry Chet. I grumbled " I can carry him, you made me carry heavier things during training". Zack smiled " I know that but I don't like you near another guys".
Before I could show my surprise he already carried Chet and harshly dumped him over sleeping Birdie. While Birdie was groaning Monkey was snickering " birdie is squashed..birdie is squashed". I was giggling at their antics when Zack suddenly swooped down on me pecked on my lips and entered his car. I went to the shotgun seat which was automatically left for me. I was thankful everyone were too smashed to notice my red cheeks.
Soothing music was playing on the radio and all the guys were snoring behind me. It was nice warm moment when song changed on the radio. It was about " red lips and warm kisses". I hastily changed the channel when another station started singing about " grinding hips and roaming hands". Again I changed it and this time it was also about pleasure and dirty deeds". I hastily closed the radio when car turned into awkward silence.
I closed my eyes pretending to sleep and I think he let me. But after a cough he said " I think you are a very brave woman Lily". I turned to him forgetting my pretend sleep. He looked forward avoiding looking at my eyes. He continued " seeing my mom, you and Panda I believe woman are much more superior in strength, not only mental but also physical".
I turned to him curious he never shared anything about his family other than Tag who came many times to spend the time with team. I was looking at him with curious eyes. He said " my mother had an accident she was struck inside the car when it caught on fire. Not only was she paralysed waist down but was also burnt 70% mainly her hands, back and legs. She suffered years of physiotherapy and skin grafting, when she regained enough strength to walk. Now she is living normal life and never once in those years of pain and surgeries did she curse god or showed irritation towards us and most of all she had this beautiful smile all the time on her lips as if she was thankful for everything life gave her even if it was suffering. When I saw you getting shot and smiling at me you reminded me of her and because of that smile I always believed you to pass this phase".
He became silent throughout the journey but now there was no awkwardness between us just a shared feeling of calmness. Finally we reached our place I jumped out of the car when guys were settled I turned to him held his hand and just said " thank you" I didn't have to explain my reasons to him because I was confident he could see the reasons in my eyes.
