Five years passed since that incidence I was now 12 yrs old and well adapt in hiding and making myself invisible. I was a good servant in school to Irwin and in mansion I never left my house. Ella became like a mother to me and I started to call her Maa. Everything was going well that day I was coming back from my school when Alexa stopped me. She was the same girl whose bottle I dented that day. She became my only friend in school and I was happy that I had someone with me in school who didn't think I was a servant.
She stopped me " Meadow please let me have a stay over in your house. I want to play with you and have a night-over where we will gossip and chat whole night and it's summer holidays. Let me come with you, my parents are not at home and I requested them to let me stay with you this weekend". I was reluctant because I never told her my house situation to her. She saw Irwin and his bullying and thought I was really a servant there but how can I tell her I am the legitimate daughter of that house and hatred of that family had towards me.
She urged me earnestly, finally I could only agree, throughout the journey I told her Do's and don't which made her laugh in exasperation. Finally she said " ok Meadow I remember everything rule 1. not to shout out loud, rule 2. to bow my head in front of all the main family members rule 3. not to go in there part of the house. See I remember everything now please relax, aren't you happy that I am coming over to your house".
When I came back to my house I hurriedly sent her inside and the house. Maa turned to me smiling but she frowned seeing Alexa. I knew Maa would not like it but I gave her pleading look. Thankfully Maa understood my gesture and smiled at Alexa. She was baking us a cake when Alexa asked us to play in my garden. I was hesitant but I can't let her know I was freak who was scared to even go to her own garden.
We were playing in the garden when Second Mam Nikita came back from her shopping spree. She saw us playing. She looked at us for a while. There was a weird expression on her face when Rodney came to her and whispered something in her ears. After that Nikita hurriedly went inside. This was not the first time I saw such interaction between mother and son. But what was more wierd was there was an expression of fear in Nikita's face whenever she was with Rodney.
I ignored the warning bells while I continued playing. Alexa suddenly picked up the water hose that was lying on the garden she started sprinkling water on me making me giggle. We played for a while when suddenly Alexa said she was hungry. I went inside to bring some fruit when I came back Alexa was tensed she told me she threw ball inside the mansion through the window and was scared what would they do.
I tensed up and was stuck in a dilemma what to do when Alexa told me why don't I go inside the house through the window pick up the ball and come back here fast. I thought I could do that and stupidly went inside the Hawthorne mansion where monsters in human clothing lived to make my life hell.
