Chapter 143 - Chapter 143 An Owl Bear

As Thomas awoke he seen Poppy mere inches away from his face sleeping. Thomas stared at her confused and mumbled "Dolls need sleep?" Thomas sighed and said "Giving a doll eyelids might've been a mistake." Thomas sat up and mumbled "Well I guess it doesn't matter now." Thomas got out of bed and said "Guess I'll just go do a quest too." Thomas walked towards the door and heard Poppy ask "Where are you going?" Thomas glanced at her and said "I'm bored so I'm gonna do a quest or something." Poppy jumped off of the bed and ran towards Thomas as she said "Take me with you!" Thomas picked her up and sat her on his shoulder but she immediately climbed up to his head and held onto his ears. Thomas walked out of the room and to the quest board as Poppy asked "What kind of quest are you doing?" Thomas shrugged and said "I dunno yet." Poppy stared at him and asked "Are you going to do the most urgent one?" Thomas glanced at her and said "I doubt they have anything too dangerous with all these orcs here." Thomas stared at the quest board and mumbled "I'm still unable to read." Poppy pointed to the papers and began to tell Thomas what they were. As she pointed to one of them and said "This one is to kill an owl bear?" Thomas grabbed the quest and said "We'll do this one." Poppy stared at him and said "You just wanna see what an owl bear is don't you?" Thomas smiled and said "Pretty much." As Thomas walked to the counter the man said "Hunting an owl bear?" Thomas nodded as the man said "If you do manage to kill it, you should take some of the materials and sell them." As Thomas turned around and prepared to leave the man said "Be careful of its screech it can be fatal." Thomas glanced at him and said "I'm pretty sure I'll be fine." Thomas held his hand out and the compass appeared in his hand. Poppy stared at the compass and asked "Is that how your going to find this owl bear?" Thomas nodded and said "Should be a piece of cake with this." Thomas began to run in the direction the compass was pointing as he said "Hold on tight." Poppy held on and asked "Can you slow down?" Thomas reached on top of his head and held onto her as he said "I don't plan on slowing down but I can hold onto you." Poppy glanced up at him and said "Thank you." Thomas smiled and said "Don't worry about it." Thomas glanced at the compass and seen that it began to spin. Thomas stopped moving and asked "Did it break?" Thomas put Poppy back on his head and began to examine the compass. Thomas put the compass back into the sub space and said "Nothing I can do about it." Poppy glanced up and said "Watch out!" Thomas stared up and seen the owl bear flying down straight at him and Poppy. Thomas stared at the owl bear and said "So the compass wasn't broke?" Thomas teleported a few feet away as the owl bear landed it let out a screech. Thomas held his head and said "Man that really is a pain." Poppy stared at the owl bear and said "Don't listen to its screech it'll disorientate your senses." Thomas put his fingers in his ears and said "Problem solved." The owl bear began to charge at Thomas as it raised its claw and swiped at Thomas. Thomas stepped back avoiding the claws as he said "Can't really hit it when I'm occupied." Thomas took his hands off of his ears and back up some more. As Thomas felt a tree against his back he mumbled "Dammit." The owl bear stood up on its back legs and swiped at Thomas once again. Thomas teleported behind the owl bear and watched as it sliced through the tree. Poppy glanced at Thomas and said "If he hits you it could kill you." Thomas made his short sword appear in his hand and said "All I have to do is avoid the screech and the claws." The owl bear turned around and swatted Thomas away with its arm. As Thomas was hit he was knocked into a tree and mumbled "I should also watch out for the wings." Thomas grabbed his sword that was laying beside him as he stood up and said "Have at thee." Thomas paused for a moment and noticed that Poppy was gone. Thomas looked around but couldn't see her. The owl bear stood in front of Thomas on both of its back legs and began to screech. Thomas glanced at it and said "I'm busy with something go away." The owl continued to screech as Thomas raised his sword and said "Shut up for a minute I'm searching for someone." Thomas activates his aura release and swung the sword at the owl bear's left wing cutting it clean off. The owl bear fell to the ground and continued to screech. Thomas began to look around as he mumbled "Where did she go?" The owl bear continued to screech as Thomas raised his sword and removed the owl bears head. Thomas began to look around in a panic as he called out to Poppy. Thomas switched his sword out for the compass as he said "Come on I have to find you." The compass just began to spin in circles again and again. Thomas stared at the compass and said "come on stop spinning and point me in the direction of Poppy." Thomas began to shake the compass as he said "come on work you stupid thing." As Thomas shook the compass he felt something on his back. Thomas turned around quickly and mumbled "Must've been my imagination." Thomas put the compass back in his sub space and began to sniff the air. Thomas mumbled "I'll find you." As Thomas wandered around unable to find her scent he felt something moving on his side. Thomas felt it begin to move towards his chest as he stared down at his chest. As Thomas stared down Poppy popped out of his shirt and said "During the owl bear fight I was being thrown around, so I hid in your shirt." Thomas let out a sigh of relief and said "I thought I lost you in the forest somewhere." Poppy stared at him and asked "Couldn't you have used the compass?" Thomas glanced at her and said "I tried that." Thomas began to walk back towards the owl bear as he said "Well I suppose it's fine now since I found you." Thomas held his hand up to the owl bear and put it in the subspace as he said "I'm already exhausted and I barely did anything." Poppy stared at Thomas and asked "Are you using mana to allow me to stay in this form?" Thomas froze for a moment and said "What makes you say that?" Poppy stared at him and said "I was going through some of your memories that you don't allow me to access and found out that this spell requires mana all the time." Thomas teleported them both back to the inn and said "Don't worry about it, I can gain more mana then what that form of yours uses." Poppy stared at Thomas and said "If this form is exhausting you I don't mind going back to being invisible to everyone else." Thomas laid down on the bed and said "I already told you not to worry about it." Poppy stared at him and said "But if it causes you that much trouble I can just go back to your mind right?" Thomas stared at her and said "Yeah you could, but don't worry about that." Poppy stared at Thomas and asked "What are the other memories you won't let me view?" Thomas glanced at her and said "It's nothing important." Poppy laid down beside him and stared at him in the eye and said "But you locked those memories up super well so they must be important." Thomas shrugged and said "It's nothing much." Poppy stared at him and said "Your lying again." Thomas sighed and said "You don't have to worry about it." Poppy sighed and said "If you won't tell me that's fine, I'll wait until you choose to tell me yourself." Thomas yawned and said "I'll be sure to tell you eventually." As Thomas fell asleep Poppy smiled and said "If you won't tell me I'll just continue to pry open those memories." Poppy got closer to him and said "But even if I don't know about those memories I can still help you." Poppy smiled and said "But that doesn't mean I'll stop searching your memories." Poppy grabbed his face and said "I'll help you weather you want me to or not." As the others entered the room they stared at Poppy and asked "Has he been sleeping this whole time?" Poppy shook her head and said "We fought an owl bear!" Scarlett sat down and said "I'm sure that's quite the story."
