Chereads / The Goblin Sorcerer / Chapter 3 - Success

Chapter 3 - Success

First thing I need to do is stop the bleeding on my leg before my health drops to 0. I grabbed a bunch of leaves from the tree and pressed on the scratch to slow the blood loss. I still didn't have the hunger effect so I should naturally keep on healing. I tried to press against the scratch as long as I could, but it had been an exhausting day and I soon blacked out.

I woke up with half my body hanging off the edge of the branch. Crap, that could have been bad. I scrambled to get a secure grip against the tree with my claws and heaved myself up into a sitting position. The scratch on my leg had stopped bleeding and the leaves were stuck to my leg with dried blood.

I checked my status to see what my health was.

{Status:}

Health: 8/13

Mana: Unavailable

Negative effects: Hunger

I healed back to 8/13 health, but the hunger effect was back and this time there was no easy meal lying around.

I climbed back down from the tree carefully as possible, how embarrassing would it be if I lost the health I just got back from falling down a tree.

I had to make sure I didn't make the same mistake with the blood as yesterday. I rolled around in the undergrowth to make sure I masked the smell of blood I had on me before.

I activated stealth and felt myself blend into the forest, it was time to find my first prey.

It took a few minutes, but I heard something moving around near me. I started creeping towards it as quietly as I could and soon I could see it.

{Forest Shrew} {Level: 4}

{Can build complicated mazes underground that stretch on for miles}

Its head was down chewing on some shrubs, but its ears were perked up, alert to changes in its surroundings. I noticed that it had long claws probably used for digging but its fangs were small, maybe because it only ate plants.

{Stealth had increased to level 2}

I heard the ding go off in my head but ignored it, I needed to focus right now.

I waited till the shrew was fully immersed in eating and threw a little rock over the shrew and across from where I was. Just like I expected the shrew picked its head up and darted towards where I was lying in wait in the bushes.

When it was close enough I jumped out of the bush and grabbed towards it with my claws. It tried to change direction but it was too late. My claws dug into its side and I quickly bit its neck with my fangs to finish it off.

{Skill unlocked Sturdy fangs}

{Increased 2% damage from attacks using your fangs}

{You have gained 1 level}

{You have gained 1 level}

{2 Skill points granted}

I ignored the dings in my head and hurried to eat the shrew. I had to eat quickly before the blood attracted any other animals that might be nearby. I ate till the hunger effect was gone from my status and ran as fast as I could.

After running for a few minutes I rolled around to get rid of the smell of blood that was on me, and climbed the closest tree. It was the safest place I could think of and I could check my info in peace. I thought of my status and it popped up in my head.

Name: N/A}

{Species: Forest Goblin}

I had 2 skill points that I could put into skills or stats, and also my health had started slowly going up without the hunger effect. I already put some in strength and vitality and my intelligence and Spirit were already high so I put the last 2 in agility.

{Two points added to agility}

Again the shiver went through me and when it was done I realized it was a lot easier to move my stumpy limbs. They moved a little faster than before and I even felt more … flexible?
