Chapter 10 - Backed into A Corner

Louisa stumbled back onto the door as her eyes searched for the person who just spoke. "W-what a-are y-you d-doing in m-my h-house." Louisa stuttered as her teeth chattered horribly. She knew who was in her house and during her entire existence she always felt she needed to be on guard around him. "I asked you a question first." Gerald said as he stepped forward.

"Louisa we need to get out of here!" Apollo hissed as he stood protectively in front of Louisa. His hair had flair out, tail bushed out like a bottle scrub brush, his pupils turned into slits while he bared his fangs to the man before him. Louisa moved her hand behind her and placed it on the door knob. "There's no where you can escape too. So forget whatever you're thinking." Gerald said as he took another step forward.

"Not a chance!" Louisa shouted as she opened the door and ran out. Apollo stayed in place making sure that Gerald didn't take another step forward. Gerald stopped in his tracks and then shook his head. He reached behind and pulled out a small communicator from his back pocket. "Plan B." He said into the communicator. Then he looked at Apollo and gave him a dark smile. "Roger." A man said from the communicator.

Gerald walked forward causing Apollo to hiss and meow deeply. "Don't waste my time." Gerald said as he swung his leg at Apollo. Unfortunately for Gerald, Apollo trained with Louisa for such a situation. Apollo leaped up the moment Gerald's foot was close enough. He then landed on Gerald's leg and run up the man's body with ease. The moment he made it onto Gerald's shoulder he leapt up into the air and aimed for his target.

Apollo took out his claws and landed on Gerald's face before Gerald even had a chance to react. Louisa made it four houses down before she heard Gerald's screams. "Serves you right!" Louisa laughed out loud. Louisa then turned right and squeezed her body in between two houses that were built close together. It was a short cut to where she wanted to go and a fail safe for any adult that may have been trying to follow her.

The moment she made it through she stumbled into the small backyard. "Louisa?" She heard someone call from behind her. "Sorry!" Louisa called back before rushing towards the retaining wall. "Santos!" She heard the woman call from behind but Louisa didn't stop. She jumped onto the retaining wall and looked down. She then spotted the dumpster that was located directly below and it was full. She thanked her luck.

"Louisa! Qué estás haciendo?!" A man shouted as he rushed up to the retaining wall. Louisa stopped hesitating and leapt forward just before the man could catch her. "LOUISA!" She heard the man yell but she had already landed in the dumpster. Louisa didn't waste anymore time. She scrambled to get out of the dumpster and run for her life again. "You're going to need a bath after we get to the safe house." Louisa heard as she landed on the ground.

She looked to her right and spotted Apollo sitting on the ground with his right paw in a small puddle. "What about you?" She asked with a giant grin. "Ugh don't even get me started. I rather take a bath then clean my own paw." Apollo replied with digust. Then he perked up his ears and turned slightly. "They're coming." He said firmly before getting on all fours.

"I figured." Louisa said just as she readied herself for a sprint. "Go left." Apollo instructed and Louisa rushed off. The two ran for another two blocks, making sure to hide their tracks as they did. They were finally out of the residential district and in the downtown area. "Shelter 2." Louisa whispered as she raised her hood from her dark grey hoodie and blended into the crowd. Apollo nodded his head and quickly moved himself into a near by alley way.

It was riskier for them to be together and Apollo knew that when they met up at their hide out they could come up with a plan to actually leave the forsaken community. Apollo jumped onto a dumpster and used it to propel himself onto a narrow window ledge. He waked it for a little while before jumping upwards on to a balcony. "Just another few feet before I get to the roof." Apollo thought when suddenly he heard a slidding door.

"Got you!" A man shouted but Apollo jumped out of the way. The man fell forward and landed face first on to the cement floor of the balcony. "How hard is it to catch a f***ing cat?!" Another man yelled as he stuck out his head and looked around. "Shut it and catch him!" The man yelled as he lifted himself up. The other man held out his hand as he shook his head. "He's gone." He replied.

Apollo laughed as he picked up his pace and jumped from the railing of the balcony to the next window ledge then to the fire escape. He wasn't supposed to to the fire escape but he need to get to the roof top right away. "Losers!" Apollo meowed at the men then rushed back into the apartment."S**t! Call Gerald!" The man who had face planted shouted.

Apollo made it to the roof and rushed over to the ledge that overlooked the main street. To Apollo's horror, it was too late. They made a huge miscalculation with Gerald, the man was willing to destroy his reputation if it meant getting what he wanted. Down below was Louisa surrounded by armoured vehicles. A crowd of people watched as men and women got out of the vehicles and slowly approached Louisa.

Louisa panicked as she turned and tried out her footing. She didn't have a way out. She looked around again then readied herself to rush forward. The men and women moved in on her. Louisa changed directions and caught them off guard. She was able to squeeze through two people and tried to make her way towards one of the vehicles. She stretched out her hand and, "THERE HE IS!" A man yelled as the door to the roof was kicked open.
