Fanrielle Sia was sitting patiently on a black stool beside Doctor Han's table filled with a stack of her medical records since birth. Her mother, Crielle Sia was sitting beside her with a worried face.
"I'll be direct with you, Fan. Based on the results of your tests this time, you need to undergo another surgery by the end of this month. Don't worry, the surgery is just for at most 2 hours and it is just to stabilize your condition. I will also add two more medicines to help prepare you heart for the surgery."
Fanrielle Sia just hummed in response as if she expected for this to happen. There was no emotion in her delicate face. Crielle Sia clenched her fist upon hearing the news and tried to stop her tears from falling.
After exchanging a few more words with Doctor Han, the pair of mother and daughter exited the hospital and headed back to their residence.
The moment Fanrielle stepped into the residence, she immediately went upstairs to her room and buried herself in the safety of her pillows while scrolling through her phone. A smile bloomed in her delicate face when she saw an article about the male basketball team of A University, the top university in the P Country. She clicked the article and saw that it is about the new members of the team. She excitedly scrolled through the article until she found the name of his idol, written in bold letters: Sage Skylar Mexeniall
She has always admired Sage eversince she got to know him in 11th Grade. She knew how underrated he was because she was one of the few fans that approach him when they held a fanmeeting in his previous school. She did have a few conversations with him but she didn't know if he still remember her. She chatted with him on social media frequently when they were in 11th grade but Fanrielle was never the type to hold a long conversation. On top of that, Sage has always been they type to reply with words that end a conversation which is why they never got to know each other better. Fanrielle never stopped greeting Sage a good morning and have a great day but it changed when she undergone a critical heart surgery which almost took her life and left her unconscious for a month. During that one month, Sage Skylar's popularity skyrocketed and his inbox always has a message from his fans to the point that he got someone to manage his social media accounts for him.
Fanrielle was shocked when she heard of this news. She never dared to send a message to him anymore because she knows that he was not the one handling his account and it's impossible that he will remember her. After all, he never once showed enthusiasm when replying to her.
Fanrielle never once stopped rooting for idol though. She has always been present at fanmeetings but she was always just there to observe him from afar due to her sickly constitution. Her body doesn't allow her to stand and wait in line with the other girls for a long period of time. Thus, she can only compromise and stare at him for a few minutes then leave. This was all she did in 12th Grade.
"Young lady, the madam and master has requested for your presence downstairs." a maid said outside the room door
"Just a minute." Fanrielle replied and shuffled out of her bed
She fixed and smoothed her clothes before heading out of her room and following the maid to the dining room. She silently sat down at the dinner table and they started eating.
"Fan, dear, your father and I decided that you should take a leave from school until your surgery is over." Fan's mother said
"Can't I just take a leave on the day of the surgery and a week or so after the surgery?" Fan said, her face still devoid of emotions
"We were just worried that you might encounter some problems before the surgery so we thought that you should just rest at home." Fan's mother immediately replied. Although it hurts her to face his daughter's expressionless face, as a mother, she understands that her daughter was just fed up with the way she was living.
"I want to go to school." she said with determination and looked at her father
Her father nodded.
"You'll have a personal guard equipped with your medical needs with you." her father said
"But I don't want a personal guard." Fanrielle said stubbornly
"Personal guard or stay at home." Her mother interjected, as if reading her husband's mind
"Fineee." Fanrielle said as she was finishing her meal. A maid approached her and cleaned up her dishes before handing her her medicines and a glass of water. Both of her parents looked away and pretended to not notice while she was drinking her medicines. It was kind of an unspoken rule in their house that nobody was to look at Fanrielle while she's drinking her medicine.
"I'll go to bed now. Thanks for the meal. Goodnight, Mom and Dad." Fanrielle said while standing up.
