"What were you doing yesterday..?", Lucy put her palm on Aubrey's cheek. She could feel him close.
"Sorry.. I made you worried.", he said, he wasn't intending to tell her about it. Lucy noticed him and she frowned.
"Alright.. I won't ask. But whatever you're doing, just remember that I'm always on your side.", she put on a smile. Aubrey must had a reason for not telling her. She wanted to ask so badly but she knew he wouldn't tell her. It wasn't easy to do what he had decided to do.
Lucy let out a soft sigh as she moved her thumb closer to his lips, caressing between the slightly pale color of red at the tip of his mouth.
"You got hurt?", she asked as she focused her eyes on the cut.
"You're the one who did this.", he said.
"Huh?"
"You kissed me like crazy and made me cut my lips.", Aubrey told her with a smile quite playful. Although he knew it was not the case, he actually got grazed when Adamson laid a punch on him earlier.
And Lucy wouldn't buy his excuses either. She did kiss him pretty roughly just now, but she wasn't hurting him anywhere. Geez.. he was obviously lying.
"Hmph, don't tell me if you don't want to. I'm just a nobody in your eyes, you won't share anything with me at all.", she started to pout, turning her head elsewhere. Even if he got hurt, he didn't bother telling her about it.
"You're cute when you act like this.", he suddenly said, then he poured a kiss towards her forehead.
"You-", Lucy wanted to snap back since he dared to switch the topic, but the moment she faced him again, she found him smiling with somehow a pleading face. She forgot what she wanted to say.
"Lucy."
".. yes?"
"I'm sorry."
She couldn't help but to fake a smile. This man was too much. He made her worried to death, made her sleep deprived at night and she also missed him like crazy.
"Stop saying sorry Aubrey. I told you I'll be by your side in everything you do.", she enveloped her arms around his shoulder. They were still in a position where she was sitting on the desk while he was locking her in between.
"Even if I might change?", he wasn't going to ask this question but he was uneasy, he knew someday this topic would come to surface. Lucy was a woman of virtue, she followed laws and regulations. Her family was a normal and loving one, not like his. They were different with a thousand miles apart.
Lucy felt like slicing his brain opened. What was this guy thinking? He was worried about that?
"Hey, who do you think I am? I'm your wife, legal one! Even if you are thrown into the pit of hell, I would still follow you. You might change, but not towards me."
Aubrey was lost in thought when she said that, and then he faced her straight into the eye.
"Hm.. you're right. Even if I change, I won't let you go.", Aubrey smiled softly.
Lucy couldn't find herself being alright with what he just said. She knew he was going for a thorny path, though slowly, he will definitely become more warped in those kind of worlds. She was aware of how major corporations work and what people of upper society do. It was not at all clean. But she did her research on Lee Group, it was much more terrifying than what she had first imagined. Especially regarding the underworld organization that they controlled..
Aubrey too, one day would stain his own hands to grasp everything under his feet just to get back what he originally had. She didn't dare say that what he was doing is alright, but it was also not wrong. Aubrey had to put up with many things in his life, he lost everything when he was just a kid. But what scarred him the most was the betrayal of his brother the moment he pulled the trigger and killed their parents.
That was not something everyone would be able to handle. As a doctor, also as an ordinary human, she was aware of how much bleeding he had to endure in his heart for the last seventeen years.
"You're sorry but you won't stop here right?", she raised her head after some thinking.
"I won't.", he answered almost immediately, while he tighten his grip on her waist, securing her in his arms.
"Alright. So will you break the law?", she asked Aubrey, her eyes clear like crystal under the water.
"I will."
Hearing him said that, Lucy took a soft breath in and out.
"Then we end it here.", Lucy then loosened her hands around his shoulder as she faced her dear husband.
"We will stop being kind and generous. We will crush whoever dares to threaten our own peace. We won't be merciful anymore. We'll get stronger, so let's do this together. Don't shut me out.", she said to Aubrey with a face so calm.
Her words came ringing in his ear like a good song. Aubrey felt like he was just reborn. A brand new him was about to come down soon. Lucy was okay with this, he didn't have to hold back anymore.
"Enough about this.", she said suddenly. Leaving no room for another tense discussion.
"We should proceed.", Lucy started to smile, a kind of smirk actually. She had been looking forward to 'punish' this guy and the punishment was still on the run.
Lucy's hands went circling behind Aubrey's neck as she locked his face closer towards her. She kissed him again delicately at first, then she went for another round of hot and intense kiss. Her legs were clipped onto his waist, leaving him without any chance of escape. He bended closer for Lucy as he heeded to her every wishes.
".. but should you be working now?", he mentioned work to which made her lose her mind more.
"Do you really need to mention that?! This is your punishment so take it and don't think of running away!", Lucy's frown got deeper. She really wanted to jump him halfway and leave him alone afterwards to teach him a lesson. Being unable to reach the peak of excitement while you're at it sure sounds good for a little trick.
"This isn't a punishment dear wife.. if you wish to make me stop only halfway then you're not doing this right.", Aubrey chuckled as he already knew her plan. What a paper tiger she was.
"Wha-", even before she could speak, Lucy was silenced with a counter-kiss that was at the level of passionate and slippery.
Uh oh.. her plan backfired.
Why was she the one being attacked?!
"Listen dear.. if you want to punish me..", he cracked up a smile. Lucy choked on air upon hearing his deep voice near her ear, it was unbearably sexy. She was anticipating something good..
".. then don't do it in the office!", he casted off the pretense and flicked her forehead. The mood was all gone.
".. what?", she was at a loss for words. Her jaw dropped, revealing all the fine line of white teeth. Along with her face so shocked.
How.. could he.. do this???!!
"Oh.. don't tell me you get excited over that kiss?", he tried to hold back laughter. Lucy was so easy to tease even though she was originally a serious type of person.
"Geez.. you're always so horny when it comes to this thing. It was the same back then too.", he shook his head slightly while still picturing a smile, thinking about the first night after their marriage. He looked so relaxed and nonchalant. The kind of Aubrey that Lucy loved to see.
"Hmph.. I can't believe you actually withstand my attack. Or am I that unattractive? Why are your self-control so good to the point that it ticks me off?", she crossed her arms in protest. Aubrey was already out of her shackles, he went to the door as if going away suddenly.
Lucy raised her brow when she saw him walking towards the door. Huh..?
"Where are you going?", she sounded quite anxious for some reason.
Was he going to leave? He just came here to drop by and then disappear again?
Aubrey turned towards Lucy and he couldn't help but laugh for the second time. Look at that face she was making.. she was so cute. Like a pet waiting for her master to come home. Was she like this before?
"I see you've changed too.", he said.
"Huh?"
"You're getting cuter by days.", he continued while he locked Lucy's office door quietly.
Noticing his action, she finally realized what he did.
"Why did you lock the door?", she asked, feigning ignorance even though she knew the reason. Her heart began thumping loudly through million expectations and excitement.
"Now let's start again. Your punishment.", he stepped closer towards Lucy without missing an inch. Now his voice sounded serious yet calm. It made her jumped in delight.
Damn.. it was illegal to be this handsome.
"It's late in the evening but you're so hot honey!", her arms that were crossed earlier now went open for a big hug. She wanted to dive in his embrace so bad.
"If I'm hot then it's only because you're my sun.", he joked when he catched Lucy in his arms.
"That's cliche.", Lucy pinched his nose happily. What a fine nose bridge..
