Chapter 7 - Exploration of the Uzumaki Shrine

The apartment was a run-down thing that looked like it hasn't been cleaned since the Warring Clans Era.

There was dust everywhere and the furniture was either moth-eaten, worn-down or non-existent.

I had seen homeless people living in better conditions.

Other than that, it was small. Like smaller than a shipping container hall, a similar sized bedroom and an even smaller bathroom. The kitchen was a part of the hall and had a refrigerator that probably didn't work. I could feel my own face twitching and turned to the genin that had been assigned to accompany me. He winced and rechecked the scroll and the number on the door.

"This is the room?"

".....yeah. They'll probably have someone clean it out later."

By someone, he probably meant the genin teams that would get the "grand honour" of having to clean out someone's apartment as a D-Rank mission.

I shrugged and entered. The genin just jumped onto the roof and ran back to wherever he came from.

I altered a few pieces of furniture back into shape and conjured a small stone golem to shift the heavy stuff while I used telekinesis to shift most of the dust and cobwebs into a ball and altered it into a vase and conjured some flowers and water to put them in.

I used a bit of magicka to banish some dead insects and a cockroach nest/hive/whatever and repaired a few things that were broken.

In a few minutes, the house looked very different from what it was before.

It was clean...almost spotless. The wooden furniture shone as if they were polished a minute ago, which they were. Some pictures and paintings were hung on the walls and the bedroom was neatly arranged.

After Banishing the golem back into non-reality, I went and draped myself over the sofa.

I was slightly winded after using so much magic and doing stuff.

Then there was a knock at the door.

I walked up to the door and used Detect Life to see that there were 4 people outside.

Probably a genin team and their Jonin-sensei.

They are going to be very disappointed.

"Who's there?"

A man's voice came through the door.

"Hello. We are here to fix the apartment. Could you please open the door?"

I opened the door and let them in and quickly cast the paralyze rune which made them all fall down, unable to move.

I pulled some memories from the jonin and altered everyone's memories to make it seem as if they cleaned it. I waited for about an hour while continuously paralyzing the four people and altering their minds and simultaneously gaining information.

The jonin was a young dude who was orphaned at a young age and worked hard to fulfill his dream of becoming a respected figure in Konoha. The genin were uninteresting. All civilian kids who were 3 years out of the Academy.

I woke the up and bade them a farewell.

The fools left happily, none the wiser.

I assimilated most of the information I had about Konoha and memorized the roads and paths and other important places.

I quickly drew some seals on some paper with chakra and locked the door and sealed it shut to intruders.

I had "borrowed" some money from the people I came across, permanently of course, and was itching to use it.

I found the general store from the memories of my for "visitors" and shopped around for this and that. While I could create most of these things if I needed them, it would seem suspicious if I got things out of nowhere. I had a 100 Ryo remaining. Maybe save it up for later.

I ran back "home" and put away the stuff that I had bought.

There were more important things to be done at night. I sat and meditated, generating Chakra and magicka and mixing them within my body and funneling them into the micro-planes inside my body. I also updated the illusion spells I had applied to hide my weird physiology from anyone with the Byakugan or the ability to sense Chakra. Maybe I should just add seals onto my skin, but that would be visibly obvious.

I should prepare for tonight's 'heist'. MWAHAHAHAHA!!

I love being evil.

Later that night....

When you pair the Muffle spell and the Invisibility spell, and conceal your chakra-magicka completely, there is no being that can see you if you are stealthy enough.

I hid in the shadows and cast a few spells to ward away the undesirables and distractions.

Just a few illusion spells here and there to exponentially increase the aura of dread that the Uzumaki Clan Mask Storage Temple naturally exuded.

Only those with adamantine wills would be able to approach now.

I entered the dilapidated temple of the Uzumaki and saw the rotten wood slowly dangling.

It was structurally weak enough to give the North-Korean Government a run for its money.

Counterfeit money, at the least.

The masks were still in perfect condition owing to the Sealing expertise of the Uzumaki

and the fact that one of those oni masks was literally able to summon the Shinigami.

I hummed a small tune as I observed those masks on the wall.

The masks themselves had special effects that i found mildly interesting as I cast the Detect Enchantment spell on each mask hoping to find something worthwhile.

Other than the Shinigami mask itself, there were masks that cleared the mind and a mask that when used would allow the user to permanently turn a person or animal into an unmoving statue.

There were only a few masks that were not a "Skill Modifier" for Fuinjutsu. Not really surprising, considering that the Uzumaki were masters of the art and the clan's various families would be expected to have something that would help them in that aspect.

There were other useful masks among the 27 masks that were hung on the wall. There was this specific one that made the user's vision and reaction speeds increase to near-Sharingan levels. The only drawback was that I would have to wear the stupid masks themselves.

They made a Dremora Lord look like Tom Cruise in comparison. They were uglier than a child born from the unholy union of Danzo and Kisame.

I kept them anyway and put up replicas that I created and enchanted them with a curse that would drain the user's life in return for chakra. The Equilibrium spell in enchantment form that would not stop until you were dead was probably a better way of seeing the Shinigami in my opinion.

I teleported back into my room in Konoha after sealing the real masks away into a scroll and put it inside a storage scroll and put it into one of the empty mini-realms in my body.

"That was a good idea. You wouldn't want to let others get their hands on them. Only a true Uzumaki is worthy of possesing those."

Divines! I turned around searching for the source of the voice when I saw a woman standing at the threshold of the Temple with a fan in her hand.
