Chapter 55 - Lies?

"Oh, wait you need help right?" He poured some water in his mouth and leaned down to me, our noses almost touching. A sweet woody scent enveloped his body, hitting my nostrils. His pink plump lips approaching mine.

My breath hitched in my throat, and a blush flew across my face. I mustered all the strength in my arms, pushing him off. Pain shot through my burnt shoulder wrapped in thick bandages, I winced biting my lip. "What are you doing!?" I said between grit teeth.

Alphar fell back and looked at me, confusion whirling in his eyes as he spoke after gulping the water down, "I just wanted to give you water, I thought you needed help?"

"Help me normally! Help me sit up please I'll drink on my own," I coughed as my scratchy throat ached. He did as I told him helping me sit up I sipped the water bit by bit until it finished. The soothing coolness coating my throat. I licked my withered lips, returning the natural sheen to them. "Thank you for saving me," I muttered, but inside I felt ashamed, ashamed by how weak and defenceless I was against an opponent stronger than me. I yearned for nothing more than to crush my opponents with brute strength, with no resistance. I clenched my fist, my nails digging into my soft flesh. I grit my teeth, trying to hold back the anger threatening to explode.

"Indigo? What's wrong?" He poked my cheek.

"I'm so pathetic! I left to go to the forest ONE DAY, and I almost ended up dead!" I smashed my hand on the stone bed, cracks rippling from where my fist landed. Blood seeped out my fist dripping onto the hard surface. "I hate how weak I am, I promised to become strong but look how pathetic I am. I can't even wield my weapon properly," all my frustrations came out in a torrent I don't know why I was saying all this to Alphar when I swore to myself to never open up even slightly but a second chain suffocating my heart was destroyed, shattering into millions of pieces.

"I hate it God Dammit!!" I smashed my fist onto the stone bed again, a small crater forming as small splinters flew.

"Indigo...."

"I don't wanna hear it, forget I said anything, after all, I'm saying this to a man who won't even say his name," I turned facing the wall propping myself on my good shoulder.

"I told you I don't know my name!" Alphar gripped my shoulder, I winced in pain and he let go pulling his hand back. "Sorry. I promise you Indigo, I remember nothing, a day I just woke up, and I was here," I scoffed at his poor excuse.

"Yeah, that explains why you have so much skill in fighting. What happened to the fox?" I changed the subject, not wanting to hear any more of his poor excuses.

He sighed and replied, "Well, the fox you came across was a Phantom Fox and it was just a baby hibernating. but it's your pet now, I couldn't do it at the time but you can make a contract with it," He smiled wryly.

"That information doesn't sound like something someone with loss of memory would know," I turned my head looking at him with a bland condescending smile. He visibly flinched at my words, the smile wiping off his face as he glimpsed down to his legs.

"I... I have general knowledge, just... I have none on myself,"

'Interesting,' Al spoke suddenly with a thoughtful tone.

'Why do you say that Al?' I mind-linked him.

'Nothing' his voice faded, and I knew I won't get him to spill anything so I gave up.

"Alphar, stop changing the story, you look more guilty just....you don't have to tell me anything,"

"I'm.."

"Stop, so tell me about this contract," I put my palm up indicating for him to stop.

He sighed again but answered, "Come here fox," The small white ball of fluff I saw before bounded towards us and hopped on the stone bed wagging its bushy tail. "It agreed to make a Master-Servant contract with you so it will obey your command once you command it to,"

"What's a Master-Servant contract?"

"You don't know? There are three types of contracts the first is the Life-Entwining Contract, it means if the master dies, the monster dies and if the owner dies the monster dies, then there's the Equality Contract, where once the owner dies the monster can go about its life and find another owner and vice versa. Finally, there's the Master-Servant Contract, If the owner dies the monster dies if the monster dies the owner is unaffected." I nodded my head and looked down to the fox, "You can name it, the Phantom fox is a magical beast with lightning and water attributes. Once you heal up, you can set up a contract with it,"

The small fox gleamed up at me with its round amethyst eyes, no suffocating force rolled off it replaced with a soft cuteness. "Why does it look like this," I stared at it blandly, looking up at Alphar and pointing at it.

"Don't young girls like you like soft fluffy things!!" the fox screamed in a high-pitched voice, waving its pink padded paws in the air.

"You're cute?" I raised an eyebrow at it, I skimmed my mind for a name and spoke before the fox managed to scream again. "How about... Floofy or White Bun,"

"How dare-"

"I think those are splendid names. How about White Bun?" Alphar threw a sunny smile looking at the fox who whimpered and lowered his head. I nodded my head at his suggestion, not seeing the glint in his eyes as he stared at White Bun.
