Oso sat on the chair in his study, tapping his foot anxiously.
'What do I do?' He wondered. 'I have no information, a fellow master who's turned against me, and the dragon has vanished.'
"I've got it!" Oso jumped up and called for a servant. "Find the two people who went with Douche and bring them to me!"
"You brought us here to talk about that Ancient being, right?" One of the men spoke disrespectfully to Oso. "I'd rather not die for giving that information."
"You won-" Oso tried to reassure the men.
"I concur." The other man spoke, interrupting Oso. "Who truly knows what that Ancient is capable of, aside from the Ancient itself?"
"It's not worth the risk." They agreed, standing up to leave. "I don't care what happens, but if you bring ruin to our continent, only you will be to blame."
Oso sat, stunned by their utter disregard for his status.
....
Meanwhile, the so-called Ancient they spoke of was above the roiling sea, flying to another continent.
"Couldn't we have flown on our own?" Ruby asked as she was buffeted by the strong winds caused by their passage.
"I'm not complaining." Alina clung to his neck and was enjoying the feeling of the wind in her face, and snatching at her hair. "I love this feeling!"
"I like travelling like this as well." Salem agreed. "What is it you don't like?"
"I can't help but feel that I should be flying alongside you." Ruby's death grip on his scales indicated that wasn't the reason she wanted to fly on her own.
"Make a suit and fly then." Alina said unsympathetically, leaning back and relishing the wind in her hair.
Ruby didn't reply, clinging desperately to his scales.
Salem paused in midair so she could make herself a shadow suit like they wore in the previous world. She took to the air and flew alongside him, all three of them enjoying the sight of the roaring waves and swelling seas.
The massive, rolling waves crested and fell, crashing into the troughs below and creating the dull roar that was omnipresent around the sea.
This sound disguised the loud beats of Salem's wings and the whistle of his passage.
"The clothing I'm wearing doesn't seem to be suitable for high-speed travel.'' Alina said as a button on her shirt came undone. "Do you know of anything I could wear that was specifically designed for high speeds?"
Salem changed the clothing on her body to a motorcycle suit that tightly hugged her alluring figure, completing the look with a motorcycle helmet.
Alina pulled the helmet off and held it in one hand to fully enjoy the experience of riding her husband.
After that, they flew in comfortable silence, enjoying the glittering and ever-changing sea beneath them.
....
"Sir!'' A servant rushed into Oso's office, not bothering to knock. "The Ancient has been spotted four miles out to sea and rapidly flying east!"
"Give chase!" Oso stood and yelled. "I'll go once I have my armour on! Delay it for as long as possible!"
"Yes, sir!" The servant uncerimoniously turned and sprinted back the way he had come.
"Finally." Oso's eyes glittered as he ran as fast as he could towards his vault. "Finally, things are looking up."
