"Fine, I won't come back for... a month", Ella gave him a look, "Okay, one and a half. Not more than that Ella, I'm already missing you. You can't expect me to sit back and be relaxed like I don't know anything!" Ella kept on looking at him. Non-reaction from her side was worrying him too much. He sighed loudly, "Say something Ella."
Ella went on to him and hugged him, tightly. Nick didn't waste a time to respond back equally to her. "I'm very grateful to have met you, Nick", said Ella close to his ears. She pulled back slowly and kissed his cheek lasting for three seconds, after which she pulled back completely from him. "Goodbye Nick." It seemed like the last night for the both of them. Nick stood there, as he absorbed the decision she had taken. Ella walked past him to the door of the roof, pausing and glancing back at him the last time, before she pushed the handle and went away from the place.
It wasn't fair to her that the whole time she had been on her ride back home, she thought of Nick. Everything about him. First Roy, now Nick! Men. Always wanting to make her life chaotic. She sighed and lied on her bed. Sleep came gradually and she was long lost away in her dreams.
Dreams about Nick and her dancing along the mansion in London, wearing a dark red gown, exposing her collar bones and him with his tuxedo attire, in front of the whole crowd, when she had claimed the throne and her dignity. It was a happy place and time. She wanted to stay there forever. As they danced, Nick moved closer to her and bent to kiss her on her smiling lips, when suddenly a sound resonated the hall. Ella jerked slightly, looked around for the source, when Nick went limp and fell on her, his eyes that looked happy when dancing, was losing life from him; Ella grabbed him and wound her arms around him and lied him down on her lap, calling for him, but he wasn't answering. She called for help, but there was no one waiting to hear her; The whole crowd became frenzy and started running away. More gunshots resonated in the air. Ella didn't care of them; she was looking at Nick and her heart clenched to see him like this. She was feeling helpless and crying for her friend. The hall was empty now. Not a single person in sight.
Then she heard the footsteps. Taunting and firm, echoing the hall. She looked up hoping for some help for Nick, when she saw his face. He looked angry. The footsteps belonged to Roy and she felt restless looking at him, her eyes glanced down to his hands holding pistol in either hands. When he came closer, Ella gently laid Nick and stood up in front of Roy, "Stop. Don't move a step." Roy smiled at her, slowed but didn't stop. Ella kept moving back away from him. She bent to her knee and pulled her dagger, saying again, "Stay away from us Roy", while pointing the knife towards him. Roy stopped at an arm length's distance from Ella. "Finally, we meet, love", Roy smiled which was a scheming one which she was aware very well, continuing, "I would love to finish our reunion; But I have to say you did a very big mistake by giving away what was mine."
"I don't love you."
"Liar. You didn't love him. But you did love me once, and you can do that again, I'm sure. We were on a break as a couple, sweetheart", stated Roy confidently. Ella didn't like it that Roy perceived that much. Any other person would have thought otherwise, but here he was displaying everything she had buried deep inside her heart. Yet she denied the last two sentences, even if he was right about, her not being in love with Nick. He continued his face mocking, "Now tell me, how did you dare to do that." It was more of a statement than a question.
"Last I checked, Kings' don't have to be answerable to servants."
"This servant has come with a complaint to his dear queen then", said Roy tauntingly.
"The throne was destined to be for the next heir Roy", Ella calmly replied, though her nerves were being jittery and on high alert with only her knife as her companion.
"I wasn't talking about the throne darling", Nick said looking intensely in her eyes. Ella looked at him confused, wondering whether it was one of his mind games. As Ella was thinking about that, Roy grabbed her hand with the knife and pulled her to him, leading to her dropping the dagger and her hand pressed behind her back. She raised her other hand towards him, when he grabbed that and held it behind her back as well. This led to her colliding completely against Roy. She went on to attack through her legs when he picked her against him to the nearby pillar, trapping her against it and leaning closer to her. Ella glared at him with all the anger suppressed for years.
Roy said, "You were giving yourself to him, Elle. That is mine." Roy emphasized on each word clearly. And like every time, whenever he said her name, it made Ella feel different. Different than anything else to focus on.
"I am not yours. It was established the day you betrayed me." Ella spoke back in the same manner.
"I never betrayed you. You were the one who left me, Ella Kingsley. You didn't trust me to stay back. You just took flight", Roy said, his voice becoming increasingly deep and raw, showing that he was hurt from it. Ella could have felt sorry for him if he had not said that, "That's why he had to be dead. Better for me. Better for us."
"Have some remorse, Roy. You killed him. That wasn't required", cried Ella while trying to free her arms, her voice turning heavy and constricted as she felt it was all her fault for this to happen. By now Roy had clutched her hands together in one hand and the other was touching her face to wipe off the tears, making Ella to move her head away from his hold, too angry at him, but he was persistent too. He wiped her tears consoling, "Shouldn't have done that, right Elle? You know how I feel about you. I couldn't help it", making it seem now that it was indeed her fault to have ever associated with Nick. Then his hand moved along her hair, which were in tangles as usual, just as he liked them. It suited her fiery nature, which he had fallen for since they had met. Clutching her hair, Roy didn't wait and brought her face close to his, biting her lips, making her cry suddenly, and then he kissed her hungrily, soothing the dull pain in the process. "You can't leave me Elle. I'll kill the world to get you", saying between their kiss, he pulled her by her waist and held her neck firmly. He went along from her mouth to her jaw to her throat, sucking and kissing all the way, until he bit the end of her neck near her collar bone, which pained too much, which he then licked and sucked again and again, making her senses go awry. Ella tried to move him away through her hands, but all seemed in vain, and Roy did what he wanted too. Worst thing among all this was, that Ella knew she couldn't bring herself to disgust him. She didn't understand it why. But she felt ashamed of herself for feeling this for someone like him. Truth was that Ella would still always feel for him, which both of them were aware of.
Her eyes fluttered wide open and Ella came to realize she was dreaming. She couldn't remember much of what happened in her dream, but it was certainly a nightmare for her to have her heart beating very fast. Also, she didn't understand why his face was suddenly in front of her eyes. She tried remembering what happened, but she just recollected about her and Nick, and Nick being hurt, because of her? More of the reason why, she had to ensure to stay away from Nick.
But why was she still having his face in her mind. "Ohh...", Ella clutched her hair through the side of her ears, elbows supported on her knees, clutched close to her chest. Looking at the time on the bedside clock, it was 4:15, she decided to take a bath to cool off her mind.
