Chapter 229 - Queen Amber's story (1)

The queen defeated him every, single, time.

Defeated, and with a bitter heart, Edmond joined the night warriors.

He has since then become the leader of the night warriors and is still bent on defeating queen Amber. I think he believes that if he can get the queen to accept a challenge on his terms, he'll win and become the king.

And I guess a fight on their terms would be something unfair."

Stephen completed the story and looked around.

There was pin drop silence as everyone seemed to be reliving the moments Stephen had been talking about.

Aria hung her head upon hearing the story. She could understand why Helen was dragged into a political feud. But this would probably result in an all out war if it was made certain that this was the work of the night warriors. And what was all this rubbish about the queen's hidden daughter.

"I think we need to explain the other part of the note too." A voice Aria remembered from the academy spoke out.

Everyone looked in the direction of a corner to see Professor Thomas looking straight into Aria's eyes.

Aria looked into those deep blue eyes, wondering what these eyes full of wisdom had in store for her this time.

Professor Thomas tore his eyes away from Aria's when Professor Iris spoke, "We promised to Amber, Thomas."

"I don't think Amber would mind her story coming out under these circumstances Iris. And it will be bound to come out after what happened tonight anyway. Besides, I'm sure Amber would prefer the life of a student over her own past anytime." Professor Thomas spoke before he walked forward.

Professor Iris sighed but said no more as Professor Thomas began,

"It must have been around 15 or 16 years ago. Amber had left the academy and had joined the army. She had always been a talented fighter and there was no doubt that she would rise up to great heights.

But one winter morning, while it snowed so heavily that even the practical lessons at the academy had to be cancelled, Amber came to the academy. Everybody was beyond delighted. She had really been everyone's favourite. But it was what Amber told us after the greetings which shocked us to the very core.

She was pregnant. Amber had fallen in love with a boy a few years older than her in the army and she had become pregnant. It might not have been such a big deal if the boy hadn't refused to acknowledge the baby and Amber hadn't been an orphan herself. So, she had come to us, the only family she had ever known for help.

It goes without saying, we all agreed. Amber took a leave from the army and stayed hidden at the academy for a few months. For some reason, she didn't want anyone knowing about her pregnancy. It was a fine summer day when Amber gave birth to a little baby girl.

The girl looked almost the same as Amber. Deep blue eyes, golden hair, and a fairy like face. Everyone at the academy was so happy for Amber.

But weirdly, Amber was the only one who wasn't happy.
