"I'm not a princess Jacob, and I don't have a princess syndrome. I don't want everything that others have, but when I do want something, I want it to be truly mine." Helen said, wiping away her tears.
Jacob sighed and stood up, dropping Helen's hand. Helen immediately felt empty and she grabbed Jacob's shirt.
"You're leaving?" she asked.
Jacob turned to look at her face, "You say you're not a princess, but you technically are. And you don't want everything others have? Think it over Helen, what don't you have that other do?"
"They can see!! Aria can see! She can look at your face. She doesn't have to imagine it in her mind and wonder if she's right or not. Her whole world isn't black!!" Helen snapped.
Jacob's eyes widened as he stared at Helen. He never would have thought that Helen regretted not being able to see that much. He hadn't realised how much she had been carrying on her shoulders.
Seeing that Jacob didn't react for quite some time, Helen sighed, "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I don't know what came over me. I... I....."
But at that moment, Jacob snapped back and took Helen's hands in his. He placed them both on either of his cheeks and said, "You are the one for me Helen. I know that in my heart. The time I'm asking is so that when I do tell you that my heart belongs to you, it can be a hundred percent truth and you'll never have to wonder if my heart wavers. I already know who I'm gonna choose. My mind just needs a bit of time to decide what my heart already has."
He continued as Helen lightly traced her fingers across Jacob's face, "I'll make sure you never have to guess anything. I'll be your eyes. Just....give me some time. Can you do that? Helen?"
Helen was silent as she traced Jacob's face, completely, many times over. She finally said as she let her hands drop in her lap, "I've been waiting my whole life, for you it seems. I don't mind waiting some more."
Jacob beamed, "Then you're not angry with Aria anymore."
Helen chuckled, "I wan never angry with her. I
guess I was mostly envious of her, and angry at myself for being jealous of my best friend. And after what happened today, I think I just burst out."
Jacob scratched his head, "So you still consider Aria your best friend? That's nice. So talk to her whenever you feel like. She loves you, you know."
Helen nodded and Jacob stood up, "Okay. Then I'll let you rest now. I don't doubt that today's exam was quite taxing. Good night."
Helen nodded but didn't say anything.
Jacob turned around to leave. Just as he was at the door, Helen spoke, "Jacob?"
"Yeah?" he turned around.
"You're beautiful." Helen said in a small voice, blushing very red, which was luckily not visible in the dark.
Jacob also blushed and murmured a thanks before rushing out.
