Chapter 43 - Showing off

Aria watched him fish by bending water. He would pick up a small ball of water containing a fish and extract the fish from the ball and put it in the bucket. Though seemed simple, it actually needed a lot of concentration as the fish many times would slap you with it's tail while you held it, breaking your concentration and jumping back into the water. It would also squirm in the water when captured in the ball.

Aria had to admit that Jacob was quite skilled. Though his destruction force was not much, his precision while bending water was something one could boast of. His precision came only second to Aria in the whole village and the ones nearby. Jacob had already caught five fishes when Victor arrived.

Aria stood up and took his bucket. She said, "Here father. You sit down, let me do it today."

Victor was worried, "Won't you be tired?"

Aria patted his head like a little kid as he sat down, "I'm not old like you father." She walked to the river bank as Victor let out a laugh.

He really believed that he was very lucky to have found a great girl like Aria. He and his wife had never been able to have children, so it truly a dream come true for them to have such a beautiful and kind daughter bestowed upon them. Victor already could tell that the girl was not ordinary by her bending skills and knew that she would one day leave when she outgrew the village. But he selfishly wanted Aria to live a little longer and wished that her memory would never return.

Aria went and stood beside Jacob and said, "Aaaannnndddd there it is." This broke his concentration and the fish escaped.

Jacob turned and said, "You did that on purpose."

Aria: "Of course I did." She stuck out her tongue."

Jacob: "I have changed my mind. I think I will have one roasted Aria for dinner tonight."

Aria: "Okay fine. But only if you can have more fish than me after one hour."

Jacob: "Oh, you're challenging me. I'm already five fish ahead of you."

"Four." Aria said as she very skillfully caught a fish and put it in her bucket.

Jacob rolled his sleeves and said, "You're on."

The two spent the next hour catching fish and enjoying themselves. By the time one hour was over, they were both drenched. Not because they lost control of water, mostly because they had splashed each other to win the competition.

They both laughed as they took their buckets up to Victor and Aria said, "Fether, could you count the fish and tell us who won?"

Victor looked at the two buckets and said, "Wow. Filling one bucket usually takes me one whole day. You guys actually did it in one hour."

Aria went and hugged Victor. She said, "That's because I learnt from the master."

Jacob: "Hey, stop buttering him up. Uncle, you won't favour Aria, right?" He said, making puppy eyes.

Victor slipped out of Aria's grasp and said, "You're all wet Aria. Go stand in the sun there. You too Jacob. And no, I won't favour her, because she doesn't need my favour to win."

Aria ran towards a fairly sunny spot and Jacob followed her, after making a face like he was very hurt at Victor.
