after breakfast, I decided to explore the city a bit maybe test my luck and on my way out the door I tripped and ran into one of the neighbors
"ouch, watch where you're going" a girl with brown hair shouted
"Sorry I tripped I didn't mean to hurt you" I apologized to her while trying to help her up
she looked up at me and somehow instantly knew who I was
"oh my I'm sorry Alex are you ok," she said with a rosy-cheeked face
"I'm fine but I knocked you down pretty hard, and it's not your fault to have apologized to me" I tried to calm her
Melissa came out after hearing a crash and saw me helping the neighbor girl up from the ground
"Abby are you ok," Melissa asked the brown, haired girl
"oh yes I'm fine we had a little mishap it was nice to meet you, Alex, " she said hurriedly rushing off with a red face
"Melissa who was that," I ask her curiously
"she's Abby our neighbor a couple of doors down and one of my best friends so be nice to her and don't cause any more trouble" Melissa reprimanded
"yea whatever you say, Captain," I said while saluting her
After leaving the building I ran into a bunch of misfortune situations, like getting chased by dogs, and almost getting hit by a truck; until I saw a familiar face and decided to call out to him "Gelos"
The little blonde man looked my way and walked very quickly to me only to pull me into a nearby store
"what are you doing," I asked him
"I should be asking you that, why aren't you concealing yourself"
"what do you mean," I asked with no clue what he was talking about
"your mana is leaking out of your body like a forest fire," he said with a worried expression
"what do you mean how do I stop it," I asked him
he always appears when I need him the most
"Just pull it back in" he replied making me regret my words instantly
"Really helpful, huh" I scoffed at him
"I mean just think of it as blood circulating in your body it is all over just concentrate and pull it back into your body" he tried to explain best he could
I focused on my body and struggled to move my mana around. eventually, I got used to it and decided to try pulling it into my body.
It felt like I was drinking a pool of water without needing to take a breath.
my body began to pull less and less mana back and eventually it stopped completely.
Suddenly a strong gust of wind blew the shop doors open and a winning lottery ticket flew into my hand
"thr-th-three million dollars" I looked at gelos and told him about the ring of luck that didn't seem to be working till now
"No Magic was getting to it, of course, it wouldn't work" he snorted
"so because my magic power was out of my body the ring was just normal" I tried to understand
I felt thankful to him for helping me with a problem I didn't know I had but not thankful enough to give him half
"don't worry I don't need it I'm a god, life on earth is easy for us," he said with a snarky look on his face
"yea, by the way, is it alright for you to just be out and about, you know because you're a god and all" I asked
"Yea perfectly fine, some of us don't look human but because of the recent growth of humanity we fit in a bit better than before," he said while looking around
there are people with animal features, extra limbs and those with less. I understood what he meant and could only feel that he's not all bad
