'Sweet mother of sacrilege. This old lady's the current headmistress!?!' thought Adrien as he stared slack-jawed at the purple robed woman
"That is right, I am the 12th head of the prestigious Haven Academy, and don't call me old."
'She can read minds?!'
'Only when you're like this' thought Agnes 'the rest of the time, you're minds going so fast I can't get a proper read.'
"Ummm.. Sorry?" he said lamely
"No, it's fine. So, will you accept?" Agnes asked as she extended her hand
Adrien grasped the hand firmly "Oh I can't say no to this."
"Hey! Wait up, hold up! I never agreed to this!" Raven waved her arms about, having snapped out of her exasperation "What are you trying to do here Agnes?"
"To be honest, I had intended to scout your boy from the beginning." Agnes began "There were rumours you see, rumours of a young man in from these parts who could perform feats of magic and might beyond comprehension, and of weapons so powerful they could trivialize even the slaying of a dragon."
"Just this act of magic alone could get him in. The array he used, the complexity in the spell, and the sheer power it employed, and not a smidgen of exhaustion on his form" she finished explaining to the albino mother
meanwhile, the two men there could not believe the reality before them, the awe-inspiring power displayed and then rather aggressive recruitment taking place
Artus, or 'king' as you may have already figured out, had read the reports, he trusted his agents, but sometimes he just could not bring himself to believe the utterly outlandish things they would report. But now, seeing things for himself. he now believed every word
Dave was just plain dumb-struck
there was a bit of an argument (lots of yelling on Raven's part) before the adventurer eventually relented
"FINE! But you better not try anything or I swear I'll raze your precious academy to dust!" Raven said while shooting her finger to the witch's nose
"I assure you, I have nothing but the best intentions." Agnes said as she parried the offending finger away from her face
-Later-
"The year starts at April 11." Agnes said as she took a sip of her beer, having been brought out by Raven as soon as they returned "So it will be ten days from now."
yes, Adrien's birthday fell on April Fools Day. yes, the same happened on his last life, moving on
"Of course."
*SNIFF* "I can't believe my sons finally going to leave, it was just like yesterday when I tried to lift you as a toddler and nearly broke my arm." sobbed Michael as he reminiscences of the past
meanwhile Raven still glared at Agnes in distrust
"Hey mom." Adrien called out "How do you know the Head of Haven AND the current Empress Consort?" he asked as it had bugged him for a while
Artus immediately spat his drink, and when he looked to Adrien he saw the mischievous glint in his eyes staring right at him and the faintest curling of his lips
'WHy... He planned that.' he deduced logically
"We went to school together." was her simple reply before she elaborated "Me and 'King' here were classmates and Agnes used to be our alchemy instructor before she got promoted."
"I had been recruited then, Like you, and had the same classes there with Arty. The Empress was also there, she was our senior and princess at the time."
"How come you've never told me of this? That you went to Haven?" he asked perplexed
Haven was an absolute elitist school where only the best of the best came to, even royals could be kicked out if they lacked talent.
"Never came up." was her lame excuse
"... Okay you're right. But, how did you get in?" he asked instead
"Meh, got recruited for my combat talent and Artus got in for his high intelligence." she explained simply
"Okay, that explains that."
"So." Agnes said as she finished her drink "Will you be joining us?"
Adrien's reply was quick and easy.
"Hell yeah.."
