Eldrich
The buzz reached the entire school. The new kid was not a guy but a girl. And from what the rumor mill was spitting out, she was beautiful.
With my hands in my pocket, and one earphone tucked in my right ear, I was feeling good. The class was over, and the dinner bell was going to ring in the next half hour.
I think back to the new kid and how she came here. We usually expect the freshmen to begin in October, but something prompted the committee to break their strict rules. I wanted to know why.
Something told me that she was going to make things interesting. I felt a little churn in my stomach at that thought. I frowned at the feeling, never experiencing it before.
I could hear someone making their way through the crowd of teens, and by the breath pattern, I could tell it was Damon. I know I'm correct when someone's hand slaps my back. Only he could be that brave.
"Man, have you seen her?" He comes up to my side and slinks his arm over my shoulder. Anytime there were hot new girls in school, he always tried his luck with them.
"No, have you?" He shrugs but smiles slowly.
"I am going to look for her right now. A few of our minions told me she is in History right now." That means she is in the other high-level courses. Supposedly beautiful and smart?
"Wait." I won't let him meet her without me. "We can look for her at dinner time."
"Alright, but if I see her and she lives up to my expectations, then I can't make any promises." Always the go-getter.
I smile at his enthusiasm for new meat ."You never do." He pats my shoulder, and then he is off to Hades knows where.

"I'm telling you, man; she is hot."
"I hear her hair is naturally green."
"And her eyes. "
"Her eye color is insane."
As I walk to the canteen, I hear everyone talking about the new girl. She must look more beautiful than all of Hades' fortune combined because this is a first. For the whole student body to be talking about someone like this, she must be beautiful.
"What is she, though?"
The last one sobers me up. Does no one know what the new kid's race? That one question sets off another torrent of discussion about what she is. Usually, you can tell from the scent that-
The most intoxicating scent hits me so hard I stop and breathe it in till my lungs can no longer hold it.
I know it wasn't the food they were serving; it had to be something else. I felt a thrumming within my gut that was pulling me towards something. I knew it. I guess my mother was not exaggerating the feeling.
The old as time elven music thrummed louder, to the point that I was glowing a faint white.
Mate.
As I staggered farther into the hall, I garnered more attention, but I shouldn't, couldn't focus on it. I look around frantically, trying to find what was making every nerve in my body defy itself.
I see what has me trying to destroy myself, and the answer comes in the form of green hair.
I am left transfixed as the spark of neon green hair disappears then appears in front of me. I take a step back at the sheer force coming from the girl- woman before me. How was she faster than my eyes can see?
I don't dwell on it long enough.
Mate.
The explosion inside finally subsides since she is so close, and I rest my eyes on the girl in front of me.
Mate.
Her hair is indeed green, a dimmed neon green, and by the looks of her pale scalp, it is her natural color. She has short, uneven bangs that look endearing on her, Two separate, long strands fall to the sides in front of her pointy ears, and the rest of her hair is left flowing out behind her to her thighs.
She is shorter than me but not by much, and her body is lithe and pert judging by what her dress reveals. Her creamy thighs can or on display at the edge of her thigh-high socks. Her small feet are in worn converse that has seen better days.
She is staring at me with unique eyes, eyes I have never seen before. They are a vivid red with an amber lining on the outer edge. The look in them is what confuses me.
She has her eyebrows raised, and her eyes widen with glee. Her little button nose is wiggling as if she smells something delicious. She mouths something at me, and that is when I notice fangs longer than I have ever seen biting into her plump bottom lip.
What she says has me freezing.
" Mhmm." I am hypnotized at this point as she licks her fangs and lips. " Food."
"What?"

Morana
I hated the canteen officially. While everyone got there blood, fish, goblin grub, or Mozart pie, I was fuming in the center over the restrictions this place had on me. I had to eat a particular type of bar. I knew it was from a human, but her soul wasn't in it, so it sucked. The only grace in this prisoner's meal was the cup of blood.
The food was what got to me so far. Along with the delicacies I know us supernatural beings eat on the daily, there is also food from the human world that the 'teenagers' there like. There was some burger thing with chopped potatoes that must have tasted as disgusting as it smelled.
Since most of the creatures here needed blood to survive, they would have a tall cup of blood with the mess.
Earlier, Norman went over an extensive amount of rules in the hour he sank his claws into me. I barely escaped without ripping his immaculate hairdo off.
I couldn't go hunt in the human world, although a warp was in the veil close to the school. I'd have to find a way there in six months. In the meantime, I had to get along with the tweens here.
I could hear what they were saying, and I didn't understand the slangs and terms of today's supernatural fledglings. Most of them were picked up from the other side since I couldn't grasp why 'slay' and 'work' meant. I didn't see anyone working or killing, so it confused me to no end.
I always heard Serene use slangs like that and more, but she still laughed when I asked her what they meant or why she said it.
As I kept listening to the fledglings talk, I notice every once in a while a new table will bring me up as a topic. They weren't shy about it. They didn't care that I could still hear them.
I was become more jittery by the second, and I didn't know why. The only time this happened was when I was hungry or in need of something to kill. The unease was something I wasn't used to, and my fangs came out without warning. Something was wrong, and I immediately thought it was thirst.
I should eat something or someone.
Just as my mind ran on getting some meaningful, legal way to subside the hunger that is clawing at my throat, the most delicious smelling scent was drifting in my nose. My fangs that were grazing my bottom lip started to throb.
It was like a wave. Immediately my eyes dilated, and the annoying chatter around me zoned out. I had to find who that was. They were my meal today.
Forget the rules.
I darted from my seat, and the scent got heavier. I was sniffing the air when the music started, and without me even processing it, my feet take me to the source.
I heard the most beautiful pulse that I have ever heard, and I can feel my mouth water at the prospect of eating my first meal.
Euphoria.
My toes wiggle in my shoes and I stand slightly on my tippy toes in anticipation of getting my prey somewhere private. I stare at the neck of the specimen before me, and the throbbing in its veins gets louder.
Food.
I am leaning in closer, and my fangs start to sink into my bottom lip. I am losing control.
I hum in delight at the thought of devouring it. "Food." I have already forgotten about the no eating classmates rule
"What?" Huh?
For once, I take a look around and see that the rest of the fledglings are looking at me. I hiss at the ones I make contact with and for the most part, they turn away.
Now back to my food.
The figure before me has shifted away, and I take another step closer.
"Did you just say...food?" The specimen before me has the most appealing look on his face. His mouth that has a predominant split in the middle of the bottom is ajar, his eyebrows raised in alarm.
I nod without abandon, confirming that he is indeed food. His body language tells me that he is about to flight at any minute, and the elevated heart rate had me humming. The chase would be on.
With a smug feeling, I smiled at the meat before me. "Go ahead. Run. I enjoy the chase." I study my prey, and I must say that he is pretty.
He has light hair slicked back neatly save for one black clump the is in his face. His eyes are a signature grey, which tells me that he is elven royalty. I have never seen one before, but I must say it was worth it. If this is how they smelled all the time, then I was going to get friendly with a lot more.
He doesn't move; instead, he composes himself, and the excitement inside dies down a bit. The amazing smell that is oozing from his pores is still there. However, I am not in the mood for a chase anymore. Instead, I am just going to go for a kill.
"Boo. You are a bore." I was pretending to turn, and the second I hear his heart rate drop, I turn and lunge at his throat.
Without a breath, I have him pinned to the floor, and there is a collective gasp in the hall.
I am about the go in for the kill when I hear someone behind me. I turn to see Norman comes out of a black mist and grabs my hands. Hissing at the interruption, I struggle in his grip, but he is holding me firmly.
"Follow me, Ms. Areithios."
And with that, he takes me into the mist, and then I'm falling.
