Chapter 34 - Day 4: 06:44PM

"Fuuuuuuck!" Viela roared, avoiding Rei's body that the knight threw at her while stepping in to swing the lower end of her broken spear towards him.

"FffFoooOOor… my… queen…" the knight shouted back under his battered helm as he raised his arm to defend himself from her blow. Their attacks collided, making both her spear and his gauntlet shatter as it rang. Instead of jumping back as a response and with a sharp breath that seemed to be almost too silent, Viela stepped in and sank her fingers into the huge gash in the middle of the knight's chest. At that second, the gap in his cuirass began to blacken, to bubble, and to melt as though it was plastic and even before the knight could do a thing, she bit her teeth and ripped his armor open.

The knight stepped back with a willowing cry as soon as he got his bare and a pale chest exposed into the freezing nightly breeze. He then raised his fist, aiming to bash her face, and Viela took that challenge. She grunted and brought her chest down to the level of her bent knee that supported her weight with the other being stretched so she could keep her balance. Seemingly unfazed about the fist that was coming her way and with her hands now shaped like sharp blades on her sides, she placed all the weight she had on her legs that pushed herself forward. She took the knight's crushing blow to the side of her face that tore off a part of her mask and the entirety of her right eye but that small opening gave her the opportunity to cross her arms and bore a hole through the knight's lungs.

She didn't stop there as she called all the strength that she could muster to sink her soles to the ground and raise the knight's body in the air, still cradled by her hands. The knight began to flail around like a fish after being taken out of the sea as his exposed pale torso began to darken as though it was about to rot. It seemed to be making some futile attempts for a kick, which was made worse when the black haze that surrounded his body along with the bits of his flesh began to drip. There, Viela stood unmoved with her ragged breaths as though he was waiting for him to die but then, the knight stopped moving his legs, and instead, he raised and clenched his fist.

She could only watch the knight gather his fingers into a fist as he lifted his shoulders. Her heart fell to panic, thinking that there was nothing that she could do anymore as his arm continued to wind up. With that same second that seemed as if she saw her life flash before her eyes as her jaws loosened and her mouth began to salivate, something came ripping through the air and shattered the knight's hand to pieces.

"No, you fucking not, you bastard!" Miggy shouted, letting his chained ball crash on the ground before he fell onto one knee with a relieved sigh. He kept his tight grip on the shaft of his staff with his trembling right hand and with his left thumb clutching on its surface as his other broken fingers hung by his skin.

It didn't stop the knight, who just seemed to take a short pause to wonder where his attack went. As if still controlled by that madness and the lack of answers to where his arm went, he set his eyes on the trembling woman that held her up and raised his other fist. It played the same sequence where Viela remained in her place as she waited for him to die but even before he could throw the finishing blow towards her, the knight found himself looking at the reaper at his far side.

"I… I'll… I'll keep you safe, Miss Viela!" Juanito shouted as he kept his gaze straight even though his eyes began to redden and cry tears of blood.

Viela smiled, then, after a second, she pulled her arm out, and even before the knight's weakened legs fell to the ground, she drove her hands back in his chest and ripped his lungs out. The knight, who seemed to have broken out of Juanito's spell, tried to swing his left arm at him as his final attempt to kill her, but Viela dodged him by lowering her stance. As soon as the piece of flesh caught in her hands melted, she brought herself up and grabbed his elbow as she stepped to his side. Left with no options and as though his sights began to turn dark, the last thing that he saw and felt was his enemy grabbing the side of his face with her thumb sinking deep into his left eye. Then, with his arm disappearing and with his head looking like melted white chocolate under the sun, the knight fell back to the floor soon after like a bag of rocks.

"Finally." Viela ran her bloodied hands over her hair and sighed as she tried to get a feel of what happened to her face with her fingers. She spent a few more odd seconds of her just silently staring into a blank space before she proceeded to stomp the knight's head over and over again. Viela didn't even bother to stop even though her feet had already turned his head into mush.

Juanito fell back to the ground with a long breath as though all of his joints had disappeared. It was as if his muscles turned soft all of a sudden as he was left gazing at the pale moon that hovered over them, gritting his teeth as he tried to make sense of this heavy feeling that weighed over his chest. Soon, his face began to crumple into an ugly cry but he immediately stopped himself by pulling up a forced smile.

"Keep your heads cool, you two…" Miggy groaned, squinting as he walked towards them with his fingers sinking deep into the fatty left arm. "I've already called MC for extraction, but the mission is not done until we're back on the goddamn boat. Get your heads together," he commanded before he turned to Juanito. "Especially you, kiddo. I'm no longer in my top form and so is Miss Viela, we're gonna be fucked if they came and found you looking at the moon like this retarded bitch who decided to jump off the boat."

"Yes, sir," Juanito let out a weak chuckle before he stole a glance at Mary's beaten self as he pushed himself up in his feet. He wiped the blood dripping from the corner of his reddened eyes and after clearing his throat, he followed, "I'll keep my watch, sir."

"Good, keep yourself close…" Miggy added, stepping towards Viela who continued to bash in the knight's head even though it now looked like a puddle of a fleshy mud. Then, after a pained groan, he whispered, "Stop, the guy's already dead."

"It doesn't look like it," Viela replied without dropping her sweet tone as she drove her feet into the wet ground. "I have to make sure that it's not dead…"

"But it is," Miggy replied indifferently as he placed his hand over her shoulder.

"Don't fucking touch me," she exclaimed as she pushed his hands away before he went back to toil her feet on that puddle. "I can't bring the dead back to life but I can still kick the shit out of the guy who killed him."

"Sure," he followed as he sat down on the cold floor.

"Oh, thanks for reminding me," Viela replied sweetly, looking at him and taking a pause as if she was letting him know that she's smiling.

He gave him a nod a second later and without a pause, she took her feet from the mud that had been staining her boots and walked towards Mary. She dragged her strained legs still draped by the black stockings that were drenched by the poor knight's blood to her and, still in silence, she kicked her face and turned her broken body over on her back. Mary groaned and closed her eyes in pain as a response, but that didn't stop Viela from giving her another blow that rang the silent air around them.

"Hey, would you mind?" Miggy clicked his tongue and ran his palm through his face. "All of us just failed our mission and someone just died, don't make it worse."

"Fine, fine…" Viela shrugged, delivering another kick that knocked Mary's teeth back into the dirt before she moved towards him.

The boat soon began its descent soon after, still in silence, blowing off all of the destruction and dust that it created below as it made the trees in the distance bend according to its will. Miggy and Viela jumped on their feet, watching the bottom of the golden boat open itself to provide them with a long ladder of the same color that led them inside the ship's hull. They went on with both of them holding their breaths as they placed their foot in front of the other without looking back at those who were left behind. Seeing that, Juanito turned to Mary with a sad smile.

He checked her broken body with all of her limbs turning the other way as though she was a broken doll that was left there to rot. Juanito couldn't help but grimace as he tried to imagine what had happened to her, especially when he saw her bandaged torso, mangled arm, and her bruised face. After letting out a heavy sigh, he leaned forward to pick her up from the ground and carry her on his back. Then, as they walked up the stairs, without even stopping as Mary's body cracked every time he moved, he looked at her beaten demeanor resting over his shoulder and there, he whispered, "Yeah, nice to meet you too."
