'Oh Lord' I thought, looking at the building.
"Let me guess, you work on the top floor" I asked sarcastically.
"Oh I forgot! You've never been passed my office have you?" Brie asked with a light laugh. "No, I work just down the hall from the office." Well that was a relief, her office was only on the third floor.
"Now guys, wait Rue lose the ripped skirt first." Brie instructed. I slipped the skirt off and tossed it into the back seat, trying to brush off my leggings to look a little more presentable.
"It'll do" She continued, eyeing me. "Now, as I was saying, it's the weekend, so we're only going to run into security, most likely. I can probably pass Kaden off as a wealthy client, but Rue, you're going to have to be my new intern or trainee or something if asked. You look like you fit the type, dressed like that." Kaden snickered.
"Kaden, I don't know what to do about your shirt..." She tsked. Kaden reached out a hand to us in reply.
"May I borrow a bit from each of you?" He politely requested. Brie readily gave him her hand, but I hesitated a second before reaching out. He quickly pulled us both into a bear hug, making sure he had contact with our bare skin.
"Relax, Rue. This is just to make it look like you girls are comforting me before we go in. We can't draw attention to ourselves by you two staring blankly into the distance while my shirt magically fixes itself, now can we?" I tried to make my shoulders relax. Brie grabbed my hand in support. Abruptly Kaden let us go, and I linked my eyes blearily, realizing I had zoned out for a few minutes. Brie was looking over Kaden's clothes, which once again looked pristine.
"Cool!" She cheered with a grin.
"Mirage, remember?" He returned the grin.
"This is too much for me." I said, shaking my head and walking towards the building. Brie quickly caught up with me, key-card in hand to swipe at the door. Kaden leisurely trailed behind. We waited for the buzz, and then entered. To our left there was a huge desk with a security guard sitting behind it.
"Hiya!" Brie greeted him happily. "I need two visitor passes please."
"ID card?" The guard said in a bored voice, not bothering to look at her as he held his hand out to Brie. She handed it over and he swiped something below the desk. "Reason for visit?" He asked, beginning to enter information on a keyboard.
"Retrieval of samples for owner." Brie replied.
"Please sign the form." The guard passed us a work sheet. "Please remember you must stay with an employee at all times, if you are found wandering alone, you will be escorted from the premises. Elevators are to your right." He waved us off.
"Well that was easy." Kaden exhaled as Brie swiped her card again in the elevator and pushed the third floor button. Brie and I shared a laugh.
"That was just the first floor security." Brie said. Up here, it's a little more difficult." The elevator dinged and the doors opened to reveal a metal detector directly in front of us with two guards standing beside it waiting. Luckily Brie was the only one with anything in her pockets, so we got through the detector pretty fast. I set it off, of course. Te security guards ran through the usual list of questions, eyeing me suspiciously before waving over me with a wand. After that, we faced the next security desk.
"ID cards or passes, please." Requested the personnel behind the desk. We handed ours over.
"Names?" A harsh faced woman asked.
"Brie Summers, Rue Evans and Kaden.. Lukoie." Brie stammered. Kaden raised an eyebrow at her.
"I see you two on the list, but not you, Mister Kaden...Luk..." She stumbled on the name.
"Lukoie" Kaden said, reaching out a hand to her, she subconsciously returned the gesture. He enveloped her hand in both of his.
