World B: (Emma William's world)
Arrrr Hhhhgggg!
That was what came out of Olivia's lips, as Nemo jumped onto her, craving for cuddles and attention as per usual, but was yanked off.
Olivia jumped like a frightened kitten, while she heard soft giggles.
Amy and Amelia were dressed in a simple maroon knee length skirt and putting on the same white flowery pattern tank top.
Amy had deep brown hair, while Amelia's own was light brown, almost looking like a mixture of blonde.
Both had their hair tied in a twin curl and eyes brimming with excitement at their big sister and Nemo's drama.
Their thoughts were so pure, that they thought their sister was trying to be funny.
Olivia gasped as four tiny hands circled around her thigh, with two heads resting to both sides of her waist.
"Welcome home, sister. How was work today?" The girls asked one after the other, while Olivia still remained frozen at the body contact.
Did they just hug her?
They hugged Olivia Smith?
These poor kids, living in this shabby house, just hugged her? Heiress of the Smith enterprise.
"Honey, you're back." Olivia hadn't pulled herself together and pushed the twins away, before hearing Caroline's words.
She looked up and saw a woman in her late forties, almost having the same resemblance as her own mummy, probably because both share the mutual resemblance of her own.
Aside from looking a bit like her, the woman had a different body shape. While her own mum looked healthy, with her skin dazzling, this woman looked like she was facading her sadness with sweet smiles.
She looked a bit older than her age and was already having obvious wrinkles.
Don't get me wrong here. She was still a beautiful woman, but based on Olivia's assessment, she felt like the woman shouldn't have looked this old, if they weren't so poor.
Olivia raised her brows, as the woman wasn't looking directly at her. Her irises seemed to be failing to follow her wishes and she was holding a walking stick.
Memories of how Emma supported Caroline to walk, flooded in and Olivia couldn't help but sigh.
'Great! She was blind.' She thought and looked down to see the twins' cute innocent eyes boring into her own, with a sweet smile on their face.
She had already seen the memories of how Emma ran her hands through their hair and twirls the tip with her fingers, before using it to tickle their face, to hear them giggle.
'Those parasites. No wonder that girl was so dumb. These people were the one ruining her life.' Olivia thought and shook her head, while she was already freeing herself from them.
The twins backed away and looked at Olivia's emotionless face with confusion written all over their expression.
They now joined Nemo, who didn't find the yank off as funny as the twins did, earlier.
The cat just fixated his glowing and cute orbs on Olivia.
"Mom!" The twins exclaimed, as Carolina nearly toppled over the couch and could have fallen down, if the girls hadn't gotten closer to her and held her hands.
Carolina smiled at them apologetically. Feeling embarrassed for such mistakes when she has been living in this house, for a long time.
To be honest, she walked recklessly because her daughter had arrived home and she was sure Emma would meet her half way and engulfed her in a hug like she used to.
She could feel the difference in the atmosphere and knew her daughter must be having a hard time today.
She never showed it, but she wished she could lessen her burden.
She never allows her to cook. The first time she cooked with the help of Amy and Amelia, Emma placed the ingredients where the hands of the twins wouldn't be able to reach and told her to rest, instead of cooking with one hand.
She knew it was dangerous, since a single mistake could make her get hurt, same as the twins, but she wished to do something.
She felt useless. She felt like she was using her own child.
She couldn't take it today and had cooked again. She knew her daughter would scold her, but she's willing to get the scolding.
It wouldn't change the fact that she cooked for her and she ate it.
Olivia watched their drama with her face squinted and nose cringed.
She felt an intense gaze on her and when her eyes snapped towards the direction, her gaze locked with the cat that was looking at her with some kind of curious gaze.
'Weird.' Olivia thought and looked away, because it felt like Nemo could tell that she wasn't Emma, with the way he was looking at her.
"I will head to… the room." Olivia said, knowing that she had no choice right now.
If she had the choice, she would have stormed out of the house and wouldn't return, ever.
She had a more pressing matter to deal with. Enemies like Sammy shouldn't be given the luxury to strike.
She needs to hit her before she could think of doing something to her.
All she needed was a laptop with enough data for Internet connection and Sammy can forget being white lotus.
Hearing Olivia's footsteps faded, Caroline and the twins finally broke from their stupor.
"What's wrong with aunt Emma?" Amy asked, while Amelia looked at Nemo, who remained at the same spot, since their sister didn't take him to her room like she used to.
Walking closer to him, she picked him up, while Amy helped their mother to sit down.
The family of four remained silent for a long while, before Caroline spoke up. "It has been hard on your sister and must have gotten to her, today.
This was the time that she needed us most, my babies. Let's help her get through it, okay?"
"Yes, mama." The twins replied, while Caroline still looked worried.
Could something bad happen to her baby at work?
She really hoped it wasn't the case.
With her heart feeling unsettled, "let's pray." She said and the twins imitated her, by clasping their hands together and bowing their heads in rhythm.
The sounds of their whispering prayers filled the whole place.
