After that conversation with father, I think I got quite a lot more relaxed, but still, I knew that days were going to get harder.
As I left that recording room that I used to call bedroom, I also decided to leave all kind of help that father would provide. As I told him, I wanted to stand by myself, that means, I didn't want to receive ANY kind of direct help from him, or anyone else.
With that in mind, I had to start planning how to survive from now on. Before, I got an allowance from father that let me buy food, and basically paid for all of my expenses, but now, to say I was poor would be an understatement. That's the main thought that passed through my mind during all my journey toward my new home.
Earlier today, I talked with our PD about the decision of moving in to the same dorm as the other Hyungs, making me the fifth resident in that house, as there was a Manager living there too.
Anyway, in terms of making money, there was only one option for me, a part-time job. The thing is, I wasn't sure if I could legally do it. Also, even if I could do it, they would probably want a signed permission from my legal guardian, which would be impossible to get as father wouldn't let me.
As I got to this point, my thoughts were interrupted by someone yelling.
— ....YAH! JANGSU-YAH!! — I was looking everywhere, looking for the origin of the yelling, but didn't see anyone. The yelling continued.
— UP HERE, YOU DUMB-DUMB!! — I finally noticed the origin of the voice. It was actually Tempo-hyung that was calling me from inside the window of the building just next to me. That was when I realized that I was too immersed in my thoughts that I didn't notice where I was. I've already arrived to the dorm I was going to live in.
— Were you thinking about that girlfriend of yours? — it was now Young Bae-Hyung that was peeking through the window while teasing me. I simply shook my head while he continued — get up here, Byung Hee-Noona already told us you were coming.
I simply nodded and started walking towards the dorm. The building it was in, was actually a 4-storey building without an elevator. The dorm was actually on the third floor, so making my way there took a couple of minutes as I had my baggage.
After arriving at the correct floor, Tempo Hyung came to help me with my bag. I didn't have a lot of things, and I decided I would get my bicycle another day, to make moving to the dorm less exhausting.
— Home, sweet home — it couldn't be other than Tempo-hyung who came with that cringey phrase as he showed me the way to the dorm, but still, it was kind of refreshing for me.
The dorm was not that big, about 40 square meters or less, if I may guess. Just after entering, one could see the living room, that only had a dark brown Korean table in the middle of it, with 4 seat cushions put on the floor around it to make it a little more comfortable.
I turned to the right, and saw the kitchen, it had all of the basic necessities, having an assortment of bowls, chopsticks, pans and kettles. And also, having a fridge and a frying pan was everything I really needed. They actually also had a rice cooker on the counter.
Right next to the kitchen was the bathroom, that was pretty regular actually. A toilet, a shower, and a sink was all in there, so nothing to complain about. At both sides of the bathroom, were two doors, and just as I was looking at them, Young Bae-hyung interrupted.
— Those are the two bedrooms, one of them is permanently locked — I could see a little hurt gaze in Hyung's voice, but still let him continued — the other one is when Ji Yong and me sleep — he finally pointed towards the other side of the house and said — that's where Hyung sleeps.
The place was another door next to the living room that I assumed was another bedroom, but still, as I was basically touring through the house, I approached the door and opened it. A frown immediately appeared on my face, because it couldn't really be described as a room.
It was a really dark room that didn't even have floor tiles, no windows, nor any kind of light source. I turned to look at both of the hyungs that were just behind me and saw their helpless looks. I sighed, and went toward the room Young Bae-hyung and Ji Yong-hyung shared, only to confirm something...
It was the same as the other room.... with the difference that it actually had a window. But still, it missed floor tiles and any kind of wall paint or wallpaper. Trying not to appear whiny, I simply sighed and sat in one of the cushions, making both hyungs sit in front of me. Noticing the dark gazes of both of the hyungs, I tried to change the mood, as I asked.
— So, which one is my room?
A grin immediately appeared on both of their faces while they approached me, put their arms around my shoulders and whispered.
— So..... tell us... you sleep without them? — I didn't get the question, which made me involuntarily tilt my head. They noticed, and continued.
— You know — both hyungs looked around to see if there was somebody else, then continued with an even lower voice — without clothes.
That's when I realized what they were asking, I smiled and casually replied.
— I usually sleep in boxers — Just as I finished, Young Bae-hyung yelled "YES" at the same time Tempo-Hyung laid down on the floor, obviously depressed. I was completely puzzled about their reactions, so I immediately asked what was it all about. Young Bae-Hyung replied.
— You see, both Ji Yong and me sleep in pajamas, while Hyung has an..... interesting habit — he approached once again and whispered — he removes his clothes while sleeping.
I immediately realized what was going on, but still let him finish.
— Anyway, as you sleep wearing boxers, you shouldn't have a problem sharing a room with him, right? — an annoying smile was now plastered on his face, while he kept dusting my shoulders. I mean, I don't have a problem, but I felt like a lost something while looking at hyung's face.
After both of them helped me unpack my things in Tempo-hyung's room, well it was also mine now, I finally asked.
— Oh yes, what about Ji Yong-Hyung — this earned a smile from everyone, as Tempo-hyung said.
— You really will get beaten one of these days, why do you only call him Hyung whenever he's not present? Anyway, he left earlier looking for something to eat, we have to celebrate now that you moved in with us — he started grinning by the last part of his sentence.
I conveniently ignored the first part, and then rolled my eyes at him for the last part, but still was really grateful for everything. Just as I said that, the doorbell rang, to which Young Bae-hyung said while going towards the door.
— Speaking of the devil — he opened the door, and Ji Yong-hyung entered with only a big bottle of Cola. While frowning, Tempo-hyung said.
— Didn't you buy anything else to eat? — Ji Yong-hyung immediately sighed while saying.
— Sorry, I didn't realize we already spent all the money we had — everyone was visibly spooked after he said that — this bottle was actually a gift from the granny next door.
He put the bottle on the table, and collapsed on the floor. Everyone was really crestfallen, even Tempo-hyung who was usually cheerful.
While smiling, I stood up, and started to investigate the kitchen. I found a couple of cans of tuna, a bottle of vegetable oil, a big cup that had salt in it, and an onion. I started thinking about what could I prepare and asked.
— Ji Yong, don't you guys have bread crumbs? — Hyung was so depressed, that he ignored me talking down to him, and simply pointed towards a cabinet. I found the bread crumbs I was looking for, and even found a lemon. I immediately said to myself.
— I think that if I use the eggs I saw on the counter, there's something I could do.... — after thinking for a while, I finally nodded and started preparing it.
It was pretty easy actually, just break a couple of eggs in a bowl, add a little bit of lemon juice, beat it a little bit, add bread crumbs and stir the mixture once again, finally ending with a paste. Mid way, I thought it would be good to add diced onions into the mixture, so I did. Finally, I only had to shape the paste into some patties and fry them. The ingredients were enough to make 12 1-inch thick patties, which I immediately started frying in a pan I found. After I put the first patty on the pre-heated pan, the sizzling sound could be heard in all the apartment, making the depressed guys immediately turn towards me.
— I guess the party is safe? — I jokingly said, without noticing all of the hyungs were already behind me, intensely staring at the frying pan. After half a minute, the first to interrupt the silence was Tempo-hyung.
— Are you good at cooking? — he was drooling by now, listening to that sizzling sound of the patty being fried.
— A little bit, I made my own food from an early age, nothing special — I casually said.
Before even noticing, they were jokingly bowing to me, even kneeling in the floor while bowing.
— Our savior!! Our savior!! — both Tempo-Hyung and Young Bae-hyung were chanting at the same time, while Ji Yong-Hyung stared at me while gritting his teeth.
— What? — noticing his expression, I immediately asked. He didn't say anything, but kept gritting his teeth for a while, then he followed the other hyungs with the bows and chants.
All of their antics made me flash an embarrassed smile.
It seems my first day on the dorm will be okay, I guess....
