It took him a few moments to process what she just told him. He leaned back a bit taking it in.
"What do you mean by Father being the destructive counterpart to Mother" he asked as it finally sunk in.
"Mother can create any ability I can think of as long as I understand how it works. And there is no limit to how many I can make or their strength" she continued.
"The only downside is that the more I make and use the more anxiety builds and intensifies not letting me think clearly" she said
"But it goes away when I undo the abilities and I'll be fine. Father can also create abilities to the same degree as Mother but the downside is more severe" she continued.
"It will deteriorate the mind with each use leaving permanent brain damage. All the rules and things for Mother are the same for father. But father will permanently damage the user.
"And it will eventually kill them, making it even riskier to use it" Demo said to show that he understood her.
Miri nodded
"but that also means it would be inefficient unless you had a group to provide support and backup" he said curiously.
"Yes, that's right. Which is why when he was offered a position in the organization that would help him take care of me after my mother died. He accepted" She said to him.
"Wait your dad was part of the organization" Demo asked suddenly
"Yes, he told me that he was part of some kind of extremely secret task force, why?" Miri asked, surprised by his reaction.
Demo held his head again as rough static memories began to rush through his mind. He could hear voices coming with them. Some screaming some muttering. But all in pain and suffering.
Trying to not lose focus he looked at Miri.
"What was the name of the task force?" he asked, his right eye determined to stay focused on her.
"Dev 1" she said with some concern.
"That was the team the organization put together. To be the perfect arsenal of human weapons" Demo said with a grim tone.
Miri, confused as well as extremely worried, looked at him.
"How do you know about it?" She asked him cautiously.
Demo looked at her, his eyes filled with pain upon revisiting those memories.
"Because I was on that team I fought alongside your dad" He answered her with a defeated look.
"You fought alongside my dad" She said more than asked.
"Yes and we killed millions indiscriminately" He said in response.
"We were brainwashed and used to their dirty work" He finished
Demo shifted on the bed as Swor came back inside.
He looked at the two of them and smiled as he saw him with his back to Miri.
"How do you like her new outfit" Swor asked him teasingly.
He grunted in response. As Swor laughed at the response. He looked at Miri and gestured to her to help him get Demo up from the bed.
Outside the hut a bunch of crates and sacks and other containers with various supplies. The door to the hut opens as Swor and Miri come out with Demo strapped to a sling between the two of them. Looking depressed at his current situation.
They set him down on one of the crates. Swor then placed his hand on what was once his right shoulder.
"Alright Demo, warp us to the location" Swor says to him" he said to him.
Demo grumbles as he starts the warp. Their surroundings seem to bend but everything snaps back into place. It happens a few more times before Swor looks at him.
"You okay man, you always get it on the first try" He said to him in confusion.
"Shut up, it's not as easy since I'm like this" Demo said through frustration and gritted teeth.
Miri placed her hand on his hand, bending slightly to look him directly in the eyes.
"You can do it Demo, I know you can" she said with a soft smile.
Demo blushed hard as she did this his heartbeat quickened as he felt hot all over. Suddenly reality bent all around them and everything flashed white. Their surroundings come back into view as they appear on a cliff overlooking a massive beautiful lake the sun was just barely coming over the horizon. The sky was lit with a beautiful shade of orange and purple.
The landscape below was beautiful forest with a glistening lake below. Three massive stone outcroppings were erected. Miri shivered upon seeing the view.
Demo noticing this looks up at her. This was a mistake, as soon as he saw her in the light of the sunrise. The light illuminated her face and entire outfit. Demo immediately looked away.
*What's wrong with me, I can't even look at her without feeling really hot* He thought to himself
"Are you ok Miri, you shivered a bit" he asked her finally while trying hard not to show that he was blushing.
Seeing that he was looking at something in the grass she rubbed her arms a bit.
"I- I'm fine, there's just something about this place" she said in response
" So you noticed it too huh. This place is full of natural essence, that's why the forest is so dense" Swor explained
Demo glanced at Swor.
"I don't think that's what she meant" Demo said to him as he adjusted himself on the crates.
"Uh guys, what's that"
They turned to face their backs to the sunrise to see a metal box with a black panel that read.
-I'm sorry, you little shit-
"That's from her alright. Just like her to half ass an apology" Demo said after reading the plate.
Swor approached the box and tapped the plate. There was a loud hiss as it depreaserized. The lid pops open and Swor opens it the rest of the way. His eyes widened in shock.
"What did she do when she sent Swor" Demo asked.
Swor lifted the case and turned around to show its contents.
Demo and Miri's eyes widened as they saw what was in the case.
A set of prosthetics to replace what he had lost.
