Chapter 13 - Chapter Thirteen

(Thane)

The Priestess of Dela leaned in, her hand swiveled around the air, and in a cloud of dark smoke she created shadow figures. "About a millennium ago, long before your family's rein, back when the world was broken." A sphere appeared and then shattered into ash around them. "Four of the strongest rulers, one from each hemisphere, had a terrific battle, you would have referred to it as the Great Awakening in your studies."

"Yes, I remember a little about it." Thane nodded.

The Priestess's finger flicked, and he watched as the four rulers appeared, their armies of a hundred thousand behind them, following them to the battlefield. "The man who fathered Vlallas, Emperor Roerich Debias, was one of the rulers who went into that battle. Debias was a man that was often cruel in many ways, he was from the Southern hemisphere, and he annihilated the other three rulers; crushed them to dust." The shadows danced around each other, colliding in a fit of smoke, and then there was only one man left, standing on the bones of his competition. "Debias and his armies raided the foreign lands of his enemies, and took many men prisoners, torturing them until they divulged where their fallen rulers had hidden their treasures." The dark figure now wore a crown on top his head, he pilgrimed village after village, slaughtering innocent men and raped their women. "To Debias's surprise he was led to the Temple Freya, where he defiled the spiritual sanctity, and discovered beneath the temples holy floors there were the frailest of women. All were dressed in a sacramental robe of white, which was typical for women who were promising themselves to the Gods." White smoke flowed in creating the dozens of women beneath the temple's floors. "These women were the rare race of Omegarian, the ancestral tribe of what we now call Omega's."

Thane watched in wonder at the Priestess's hands worked their magic, weaving picture after picture before his very eyes, "The High Priest of the Temple warned Debias of the consequences in disturbing the natural order of the Gods, but Debias had the man strung up in the village square, and mutilated until he spilled every secrete of Omegarian. The High Priest foretold of the Omegarian's extreme fertility, the way their bodies responded to an Alpha's call, and that if a true-life mate was found, offspring's' would be born with immense power. That only through an Omegarian could such a child be conceived that could set the world ablaze with raw influence." The scene of Debias having the Priest strung up in the village square surfaced and the Priest was butchered before his people, " Debias grew greedy and revealed in the idea of having an army of deadly weapons, so he took the Omegarian's by force, creating a harem of strictly their race, and he bread them." The once virginal smoke of the Omega's now turned black, "After years of coercing these women into bed, Debias had yet to summon an heir with divine abilities, so he started letting his officers rape the women, hoping that by introducing the females to new men, they might find their life mate and create the weapon he needed."

"Good Lord." Thane let out a breath, feeling a deeply rooted rage at a man that was now long dead. It was unnerving to know that kind of man had founded the home he loved. That Vlallas was build on the blood and sweat of a tyrant, the murderer of children, and rapist of women.

The Priestess spared him no detail too small, "Eventually Debias did find a true-life mate to one of the women, his name was Fredrick, one of his enemies' men, that had pledged allegiance to him to escape death. Fredrick realized that he and the Omegarian were true life mates and could not stand by while she was raped and maimed, so under the darkness of night he stole her away. Though the woman would not leave without her sisters, so Fredrick rescued several females, taking them far away from Vlallas. They all in turn went on to find their own destinies, which is how the spread of more omega's came to be."

"Fredrick Lazareth, he ended up becoming the second Emperor of Vlallas." Thane said in confusion, he had never heard that story before in his studies.

The Priestess nodded, "Indeed, a few years later, Fredrick snuck back into the palace, using the secrete tunnels under these very walls and entered Debias's chambers, slitting his throat while he slept. In those years leading up, Fredrick had been rallying support from within the palace, the men that Debias had taken hostage or made plead finality to him. They all committed tyranny and, in the end, went to war with Fredrick, who won and became the next Emperor of Vlallas. The man ruled with his Omegarian wife as Empress, Latonia."

"So, Fredrick's Empress was an Omega," he stated in wonder, "Why had the scholars not written of these events, it was not in my teachings."

"They had been written, many centuries ago, your great great grandfather had all the records burned in a fit of madness. This was when Omega's had started becoming more of a novelty than reality." She stated.

Thane pondered all the information that he had acquired for a moment, "I found a journal, the only one that had not burned in the fire, is it all facts then?"

"Yes," the Priestess nodded, her gaze was somber in its intensity, "You made a vow to me, now I will tell you what I desire." Thane waited for her to make her demand, "Do not bind this woman to you, unless you know for certain that there can be a bond made of love. Too many Omega's have been misused for their bodies, this girl deserves better, even if that is not you. Give her to me and I will keep her in my Temple, where no harm will come to her, or you could try and find her true-life mate."

Even as her words echoed inside his mind, Thane knew that he would not be able to let her go willingly but he nodded, "I promise that I will not force myself on her, if I feel it would come to that, then I will send her away. I am not like my ancestors."

There was a moment of silence and The Priestess nodded slowly, "I believe you Thane Rysling, I can tell that you are an honest man, the spirits do not lie. I can see a promising future awaiting your Kingdom, you shall accomplish many great things." She stated, then stood from her chair. "I must return to my Temple, mass starts soon, I wouldn't want to be late."

Thane stood and took the woman's hand, "Thank you for telling me all of this, it is a lot to process but I am glad I have a better understanding."

"Use the information wisely Emperor." And with those haunting words of advice she diapered from the room, leaving Thane with his thoughts.
