Chapter 45 - First Class

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Scotland, Highlands // 6:30 AM

Elliot woke up as he sit in his bed, seeing the three roommates that he will be staying with for the rest of his years. Just bunch of Muggles, and they didn't really introduced themselves and just straight off sleep in their bed immediately.

He didn't bother with them and got his towel and showering utilities, going to the bathroom to wash himself to start off the day.

It's very early than what the time table says, where it's recommended for everyone to be awake by the time 7:30 comes, a large bell waking up the whole school, and it can be pretty annoying for a thing like that to wake you up. He will wake up everyday like this, as he still has his training regime. Core Enhancing, Martial Arts, and Sword Arts. There's also regular spell practicing and Potion Making, and possibly, taking care of magical plants, a thing he never got to do. He doesnt know if his motion sickness applies to being on broomstick, but if it does, he doesn't really care as when it comes to flying, as long as you can at least do it, your grades are already set. Though sword arts can be pretty troublesome as professors will probably ban him from using such things. And he needs to find a place where he can freely be peaceful, and able to do such things. Room of Requirements of is there in the options... but the thing is, he actually don't know how to access the room.

After showering, he didn't immediately wore his uniform that was given to them when their luggage arrived, instead some work out clothes that Muggles wear. There ain't anything better than that.

Looking good at himself, he goes off outside, there was not that much Slytherins that were awake already, mostly 5th and 7th Years that are eagerly studying for their exams. OWL's and NEWT's. He reckons that he actually failed all NEWT's giving him hard time to find a job.

He was one of the first years that is actually awake, he opened the door of the common room, in the dungeon he goes as he goes forward pass the Potion's Classroom, going to the right where the stairs going up is placed.

Arriving at the corridors of the grounds, he huffs. He remembered how late he was in the past for the first few days because how messy are the stairs and how big the castle is. Thankfully, the Hufflepuff's room is just beside the kitchen where he can ask the right directions. But now, it's just like in the palm of his hands. Going onto the right, right, left, and practically where the right directions are, he now reached his destination, the Training Grounds.

Carefully observing the spot, there was no people in presence. Only him. Smiling, he walks to the place as he sat himself in the right position, Core Enhancing time isn't it now?

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

*Ding* *Ding*

Seeing his exhausted worn out body, he stretched for a bit, looking at the first bell for the day, it's already 8:00, the recommended time for breakfast.

Along the training time, some students saw him and just looked at him odd. Well yes, after all, almost 99% percent students in this school doesn't at all train their body, as again, being a wizard makes your body already great even without such things.

Anyway, he just let them be, continuing.

But as the bell now sounded, many students now surrounds him, seeing how sweaty and wet he is, unusual if it's only morning.

Elliot walks back to the corridors going to a random bathroom for males, going in, there's the sinks, toilet stalls, then as you go in deeper in the right, there's the Prefects only bathroom, where a bath lies just for them. Lucky.

He washes his face getting the free given towels drying his sweaty body, after that, he then goes off away to the Great Hall meeting familiar and unfamiliar faces.

"Yo!"

A voice calls out, and Elliot turned back, expected Tasia locking her hands in his shoulders.

"Hm?" Elliot questions.

"Why do you smell so dirty? Hell, you smell like morning sweat!" Tasia got off his body, as he smirks.

"Tall about the one who hasn't brush their teeth yet," He responded to which Tasia freely accepted it. Covering her mouth to check if indeed she smells bad. Breathing inside the ball curled in his mouth, she groaned as she finally got a smell of her breath.

The two compared their time tables. Seeing there's three class of the week they will be together. And Transfiguration today is actually included. Tasia states that Justin was already in the Great Hall, and didn't really bother waiting for them.

"I just got told that Slytherin's are the rival of my house. You guys also have the high chances of becoming of what they call 'death eaters'.. You won't be like them right?" Tasia explained as the first few things her older Gryffindors gossips how Slytherin's are automatically the bad ones.

"No, they will all die anyway.." Elliot smirked, answering as they arrived at the Great Halls.

"Wat?"

Tasia didn't understand but they now then separated to their own long tables. There is the food already sent out. Elliot wouldn't really say that it's the best food to be honest. It's good actually, but now that he has experienced few of the outside world, you can easily say the food here isn't the best. He has to asked the kitchen elves to atleast serve more healthier foods

He ain't vegetarian but this things, chicken, pork ribs, beef, steaks... Jesus....

Elliot of course can't just make them, the school elves, immediately do it, but he always have his ways.

The purebloods are sitted in the front, must be hell for Draco to always shiver every time he see him. Well, lesser dramatic people to surround him I guess.

Finishing his food, his stomach growls to the excitement of his first class. Charms. It's a good class.

There's the people who started going out of their seat, the early guys. And so, Elliot goes away too as he leave for the dungeon.

It's noticeable that once you go to the lower floor, the temperature drops. Even without AC nor fans, it's just very chilly and cold.

Randomly walking, he spots the house head himself, the exaggerated waving of the man, Professor Snape.

He seems there for his first class of the day, pretty early.

The two locked on with their eyes, Elliot going down slightly smirking.

"Good morning Professor," He greeted as the snake sneered at him, "Good Morning, Mister... Demetrius"

Snape looks at the name tag in his chest, as he then continued to the doors of his class ignoring Elliot then, as Elliot do the same.

Snape's a very sensitive one so the trick really is just be intelligent, but not too intelligent to the point where he's mad for some reason by it. Like Hermione for example. He just apparently wants everybody to be stupid under him. But if your smart enough, he will actually acknowledge you. Remembering back, he still gives the creeps of being the Headmaster. When they lined up and all, dang how dark was the atmosphere back then. There's the tension the gravity that's pulling you stronger than usual. And then the fight of Snape and McGonagall, pretty bad ass but it got cut shortly. And ahh, of course, the cringey statement of Harry, "hOw dAre yoU sTanD wHerE hE sToOd!"

And then sooner finding out he's the "bravest man" he actually know. Funny Harry, funny...

Elliot getting into his common room, many were changing their clothes, some were the late guys rushing to do everything within seconds.

He too changed his clothes putting the new robe that has the green lining attached, the neck tie that shines in its silver and green pattern.

He looks at himself in the mirror, his apparent green eyes, uh, entirely different shade from Harry alright, are matching his clothes beautifully....

Enough of that, Elliot got his books, quills, ink, parchment papers, feather and wand all ready. The Slytherin's outside room was pretty packed already, and it just gives him more reason to get out of the common room. Going outside and up to the third floor, he spot Justin alone, unlike the other Ravenclaws that already found their new friends. Elliot leave him be, if that's what he actually wants, well, let him be. Elliot knows every guys that goes on their puberty always go through that phase, the emo kinda loner one. Kinda funny how even though he have gone through that phase in the past, nothing actually changed. Cause he's already a loner in the first place.

(ooooh, self burn. those are rare)

The Charms classroom is located in the third floor, just right beside another classroom. He actually forgotten the original appearance of the room. As years passed, it will actually change bit by bit. Mostly once the Battle of Hogwarts will happen, it's a wreck really.

There's the door entrance to the room, the classroom has three rows of desks, all facing the teacher's table, behind which sits a large upholstered chair with a high back. Two blackboards flank the teacher's table, and behind them is a small shelf with books and other objects, beneath a pair of windows.

The same old Charms Classroom.

Few Raveclaws are in the right side, Justin included sitting into the highest seat, Elliot waves as Justin reluctantly waved back, and seems they separated themselves already from the few Slytherins that are sitting in the left side. Elliot sat in the second rows of seats, positioning his books, ink, and things in the table carefully, in his sides for a good view of Professor's Flitwich small figure. While carefully setting his wand in his holster.

There's still a few minutes before the class starts, and the professor himself isn't in the room. Analyzing some things about this class. Charms class has quite a few lessons centred around theory throughout the years, not only focused on practical application obviously. Practical Application, meaning lessons allow the students to actually use the charms they are being taught. The Levitation Charm, Cheering Charms, Summoning Charms, Banishing Charms, Silencing Charms, and Drought Charms are one of the charms taught in the first year that is focused on. As Hogwarts focus on quality rather quantity like what Elliot does also. Even though students can already do the spell, they have to keep practicing it, as for the speed, chanting, swift wand waving, and also the target, how to properly point it.

This day, it will be a few discussions for the charm Lumos, the easiest spell possibly, Elliot can already chant it with his both hands, wandless, and nonverbal. Though over flexing to others would be too much. But only discussion, the actual application they will do is actually the, you guess it, Levitation Charm. Wingardium Leviosa. If he remembered back then, Hermione is one of the few ones in the whole year that actually got it, and mostly, from first try. But the speed of her levitation is actually very slow despite its only a feather, but it's already understandable of how of course, it's the first class. The speed depends on the caster experience of doing the charm whilst also the weigh of the item that is being levitate. Meaning, feather is one of the easiest thing to levitate. And as Elliot has done the charm few several times, as how there's a bunch more useful spells out there, he can say that he can put the feather onto the ceiling in matter of seconds. Ending the thought with the first bell ringing, the time then passed the room fully packed with students unknown to Elliot, who spent his time day dreaming with his thoughts. Professor Flitwick arrived then, going on his way to the teachers desk. Tumbling in his feet with his small height, taking seconds just to finally arrive then.

"Welcome Class!" His old voice was evident, and how he exclaims things is very slow.

"Our first lesson today is known as the Wand-Lighting Spell, anyone here know what it is?" Professor Flitwick asked his first question of the day.

Two hands raised up, and Elliot smirked as he battles the professors attention to his hands, away from Justin's hands.

Its surprising to Elliot how only one Raveclaws is actually wanting to answer. Or are they too knowledgeable about it that they won't even bother such small things? Nah, impossible. Ravenclaws in Elliots experience are always answering if they know the answer. In terms of houses, they're actually the coolest one.

"Oh well, Mr... Quinton?" Professor Flitwick pointed at the other side, and Elliot grunted a bit. One of the disadvantages of Slytherin's. They're well known as bad shit so professor would always find someone just to not praise a Slytherin. If it's not only for Snape's unfair giving of points...

"The Wand-Lighting Charm, Lumos is a charm that illuminates the tip of the caster's wand, allowing the caster to see in the dark. The counter-charm for the spell is the Wand-Extinguishing Charm Nox, which is used to extinguish the light from the caster's wand, " Justin said in one breath where Elliot smiles a bit.

Most students will answer what is in the book -

'The Wand-Lighting Charm is simple, but requires concentration. Take care not to accidentally set your wand alight as damage of this kind can be permanent. If in any doubt about your abilities you would do better to buy yourself a lantern'

Because the book doesn't actually explain it, the Professor will. Yet, Justin alone found out what is the spells all about based on the writings in the book. That if Elliot recalls, just how to wave it and the chant words.

"Very Well Mr. Quinton! 15 point for Ravenclaw!"

The Ravenclaws clapped their hands happily as they asked for a handshake from Justin, who just nodded awkwardly not accepting their hands.

The Slytherins of course grimaced their eyebrows prepared to destroy the other side.

"Well now, I didn't expect for our Mr. Quinton here to explain it already, so I will be reviewing just what he said."

Professor Flitwick continued in with the lesson for more minutes, explaining very carefully the ways and things that you should be aware of when doing the spell. And basically, all spells there is.

It was a boring time pretty much, if the students here are already surprised just by knowing the fact that it can lighten your wand, just watch if they get to know Avada Kedavra.

"Oh well now, get your wands all ready and feathers, and no, we will not be doing the wand lighting charm...."

After few silence as student started grabbing their wands and feathers,

"One of a wizard's most rudimentary skills is levitation the ability to make objects fly. Uh, do you all have your feathers?"

Everyone raised their feather.

"Good. Now, uh, don't forget the nice wrist movement we've been practicing, hmm? The swish and flick. Everyone."

And so, with the book's instruction about the movement, everyone moved their wrist into a messy manner. Whilst Elliot first hold his wands correctly, his wrist a bit down, his arms away from his body, up a bit, holding it in his index and thumb.

Swish and flick...

He carefully flicked his wand, as it might already move due to his ability of nonverbal already. Professor Flitwich took a look, giving Elliot a small smile.

"Good. And enunciate. Wingardium Leviosa. Off you go then."

Then the room was very noisy, unclear enunciations everywhere, putting off Elliot's ear. How sad..

He looked at Justin who is seemingly having a hard time enunciating it with his thick British accent. Justin looked back sneering... seeing Elliot's defying eyes.

"Wingardium Leviosa" Elliot said in a silent voice, where with his careful control of not too fast of levitation, the feather floats in one direction as everyone stated at it in awe, speechless.

"Oh, well done! Everyone! Mr. Demetrius has done it! Oh, splendid!" The cheerful voice of Flitwich cease the silence. Where students started doing the same as Elliot finished the spells catching the falling feather.

"15 points to Slytherin!"
