When Rendell Books closed the door, Gio Tocca heard the lock clicking immediately after. "Sh*t! Did this douche just lock her up inside?!" Gio tried the door and indeed it has been locked.
She said a string of insulting words before she quickly put on her clothing and looking for something to pick the lock.
Growing up with her mother who had her when she was still a teenager, Gio and her mother had to do alot of things just to survive and put food on the table. So she was quite skilled in pick pocketing and picking locks and other small thug things.
To escape reality, she would also go to sneak into clubs with fake ID's with her friends and party till the wee hours, and when they had to go back home cabs would be super expensive since it was night time prices so she would hack cars from the parking lot and Ronda Williams would drive. They would drive until two or three blocks from their houses, abandon the cars there and walk the rest of the distance back home. Eventually Ronda taught her how to drive and she would hijack the cars and even drive herself.
The police always from the cars the next day so they felt it was fine to do it since they were just borrowing the cars. One time when she was 16, her mother had had a man over by the house and Gio wanted to take a break from her mother so she went to the club and like usual when it was time to leave she hijacked a car but little did she know she would be found out. It turned out it was Mr Williams, Ronda's dad, associate. She was scared sh*tless when they called her up and told her they knew it was her who took the phone. She thought they were going to call the police on her.
"Drive back my car where you got it, yeah" the husky voice came over on the other side of the phone. It was mesmerizing and captivating, but Gio had no time to admire it as she was scared that she was going to be arrested.
Fortunately, they only had a conversation over the phone, the associate even complimented her on her jacking skills. Gio was confused but just brushed it aside after the incident. Before the call disconnected, the man said "We will cross paths soon." However she hadn't met the man yet since.
For some weird reason Mr Williams never told his wife nor my mom about the incident. But after I drove back the car to the club the man and Mr Williams called and the man said that's where it ends for now.
She quickly picked the lock as soon as she found a pocket knife in the drawer and made a run for it. She took the pocket knife as a souvenir for herself. Her mother always taught her to keep a souvenir as proof that she has got it - the skills, that is.
Outside, Rendell was trying to pacify his other girlfriend that he didn't see Gio sneaking out.
