Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: The First Mission (Part I)

"Yes, madam! At 1am, a loud sound was heard from within the enchanted core underground. The tremors were very sudden, the inner core area of the Palace where the spirit was imprisoned collapsed almost immediately, and we rang the first alarm. The enchanted chains were broken, and the Palace core was torn inside out by then, and we do not know where the spirit has escaped to. The enchanted Palace was ablaze, and the fire continued to through the Palace through the cracks in the walls, although there was no apparent inflammatory substance around the area."

The man gave a concise report without taking a breath.

"What type of spirit is this and why was it imprisoned inside your Palace? I have never heard of this from class before," the blonde Yurian asked curiously. His emerald eyes were clear and reflected the flames of the chaos, his lips bent into a gentle smile despite the tense situation. Despite his genteel appearance, he was inwardly suspicious of the sudden news on Auglarus owning a spirit.

"This…I am not too sure, but from my sources, this malevolent spirit had caused great damage eons ago and was imprisoned by the old ancestors of the Auglarus kingdom. As its power was too great, they had to employ numerous magical incantations and enchantments to seal the spirit and prevent further evil doing.

"We do not know what caused the spirit to awaken and have enough power to break through the numerous magical chains in place," the middle-aged man breathed out raggedly, causing his moustache to tremble. "If the spirit is not caught, I have no idea what will happen. There has never been a catastrophe so huge. "That is why we need your help, Moon Saint."

He tried to grab Marianne's hand with his paws agitatedly, but Alistair slapped them away.

"Well, what kind of catastrophe will happen? Stop throwing these ambiguous words around, old man," Sylvester yawned as tears of sleep escaped his closed eyes. He seemed very tired and his purple uniform was crumpled, as if he wore it to sleep. His finger rubbed his eye from under his spectacles.

"Firstly, my name is Oberon," the middle-aged man grumbled, "and I have been charged to give you your mission. Moon Saint, the records show that this spirit was so evil that she was given a name: Persephone. Whenever she strikes, there will be landslides, thunderstorms, hurricanes, plagues, and infestations of all sorts. Most importantly, wherever she goes, a dark miasma will spread, causing insanity, paranoia and all sorts of bad feelings to fester in her surroundings and facilitating chaos."
