"I mean I have almost died multiple times and somehow I haven't questioned it I think I'm starting to see why Sara was against me becoming a knight and why Garren quit being a one, I have gone through hell and I'm still not a knight and I am going die during the first year if I do become one what is the point" blaze continued as he started to lose himself deeper and deeper inside his mind

"he has been through the same thing as me and experienced probably even more and what has have to show for it he serves as one of thousands of knights that die every year that get forgotten but when I was holding Jacob on my back I felt the need to carry on to push myself to protect to someone I bet on feels the same" blaze started to think even more
"I wonder if that what magic is, the thing that lets us carry on" blaze suddenly opened his eyes and said "where am I".
"so where are we going" Rey said with his arms crossed
"theirs no need to be in a huff your dad thought it might good for you to see were one of the knight academy exams take place" Jess said steering the carriage
"huff i show you huff, wait a minute one of how many exams are there" Rey questioned
"well I heard from a knight i was on a mission that they recruit as many students as possible because most of them die so they have to hold a lot of them they even hide most of them behind monster hunting trips or magic training so the students can't prepare" Jess explained as they got closer to the exam site
"that's horrific" Rey said slightly shaking
"that's why my little brother can't be one even if they have him serving as an iron student" Jess said gripping the ropes tightly
"umm w... what's a iron student and why is your brother one" Rey questioned awkwardly
"don't... don't worry about it, this day is about you and finally getting you out the library" Jess said unconvincingly as they arrived at the exam site and leaving the carriage in uncomfortable silence
"hi...hi jess" Charlie said whilst weakly waving his hand
"oh hey Charlie I didn't know you became a kingdom mage well done" Jess said causing Charlie to become slightly flustered
"thanks umm who's this" Charlie said looking over to Rey
"oh this is Rey he's... a brat" Jess said causing Rey to cross his arms and turn his head away from them
"well why are here" Charlie said looking down at his notes
"well I know that it's kinda illegal for a civilian to be here but this kid is a Goldrey and his dad wants him to see the knights exam" Jess said causing Charlie's face not to change
"no reaction come on he's a Goldrey I'm mean the head of the family is the guild master" Jess said completely shocked by his reaction
"well we have two Goldrey in the academy and both of them are actually here and not to mention the other heirships to lords there are" Charlie explained with an air of awkwardness
"well this kid is part of the head family" Jess said in a whispery voice
"wait head family you mean this kid is so important is identify has to be kept secret" Charlie said in a whispery voice back
"you know I can still hear you both" Rey shouted suddenly
"and why did you tell somebody a secret that is meant to stop lower family members from killing me" Rey added facepalming and shaking his head
"well I don't know it's kinda cool that your position is so valuable that many of your ancestors have killed each other over it" Jess replied when suddenly a loud explosion could be heard in the distance
"you guys stay here" Charlie said teleporting away
"oh why today kid stay here and I mean it if you follow you won't like what I do" Jess said quickly running towards the explosion
"w...wait" Rey said unheard by Jess
when Jess finally reach the site of the explosion she found charlie and mage on the ground and a group of masked warriors stuffing students into boxes but as she charged at them she saw one of the students being put into the boxes into was blaze, Jess' in a fit of pure rage pulled out of her blade and sliced one of the attackers in half the others charged at her all at once but unhinged she ran straight towards them blocking one of the attackers blows and kicking him into a other but before she could react she was shot by an arrow she turned around and used the momentum to throw her blade at the archer piecing through their head and then someone behind her slashed her back she quickly pivoted and grabbed the blade whilst headbutting the attacker knocking them out and then she quickly used the sword to block firebolt sending her flying into the carriage holding the students "what a show too bad I don't bad I don't have time to watch" a fire wizard said slowly approaching Jess
"did you just quote a play it's like you trying to be a bad guy" Jess said before coughing up blood
"how dare you insult the great gillard" gillard said flustered
"ha you are trying to sound like a demon lord but you are more like Charlie" Jess said laughing to herself
"well you are going to bleed out so ha I'm going to go with the cart" gillard said as he began to walk to the front of the cart Jess tried to reach out to him but she fell to the ground the arrow had been tipped with paralyzes
"I need more strength I need to stop him" she said to herself dragging her body towards gillard when suddenly a light radiated from the cart
"what's happening!" gillard shouted looking over to the boxes
"it seems that blaze is letting out a bit of his power without realising" mage said watching Jess lifted of the ground with a new found strength
"and what a strange one it is" mage added before Jess dashed towards gillard and swinging her sword at him causing him to let out a giant explosion to send him backwards but not even effecting Jess, panicking gillard fired a mass of fireball but only forcing Jess to slice through them and then with all her strength thrusting her sword towards gillard
"Jess!" Rey suddenly shouted causing Jess to lose focus allowing gillard to dodge the attack and let out a firebolt point blank sending Jess flying backwards but before anyone could react Charlie teleporting himself, Jess, mage and Rey to the academy
"Jess I'm sorry" Rey said running to Jess' side
"b...blaze" Jess said before passing out.
