"Dodge!", Alice shouted hitting blaze into the wall.
"You can't just shout dodge and except me to dodge", blaze said standing up, regretting agreeing to Alice's training.
"Dodge!", Alice slammed blaze into the wall again causing him to cough up blood, blaze looked up gripped the wooden sword and dived past Alice and quickly pivoted and aimed for her back.
"Dodge!", blaze shouted ready to strike.
"I don't have to," Alice said quickly turning around and kicking blaze's blade upwards and punching him into the ground.
"Can you at least tell me what I'm doing wrong?" blaze said weakly unable to get up.
"First off you have a terrible reaction time and second you are trying to block and not dodge and that would get killed if you fought actual monsters or bandits so when I say dodge, DODGE!" Alice explained before swinging the wooden sword down at blaze and to her shock, he rolled out the way and quickly jumped up.
"Okay that was good, but can you PARRY!" Alice shouted swinging her blade down at blaze, blaze quickly jumped to the side but Alice dropped the wooden sword and swung her leg into blaze sending him flying.
"I said PARRY", Alice swung the sword down on Blaze again, Blaze's sword clashed with Alice's and as her blade was repelled Blaze quickly swung downward but before he could react Alice quickly kicked blaze in the chest sending him flying backwards.
"How is any of this helping if you can just counter them", Blaze said standing up readying his sword
"Have you noticed the blade we are using"
"oh they are rapiers, what of it?", blaze said examining the wooden rapier
"they aren't particularly good at blocking since they are thin, if you attempted to block with they would break, so I'm teaching you that when using a rapier you need to always dodge and parry not block"
"wait are you teaching a sword style like Garren said I need to learn", blaze said thinking back to the day he broke into the academy
"oh this nothing like a sword style"
"than what is a sword style", Blaze said before Alice like a flash of lightning pierced through blaze's armour causing blaze to drop to the ground out of fear
"A sword style or weapon style is kinda like magic but instead of a phrase deep in the subconscious deciding the form the magic takes, the complete understanding of a weapon lets you do things similar to magic, for example, the style I did allow me to concentrate all the attacks I did in the last thirty minutes into a single point and let me move almost like lightning", Alice explained to the utterly terrified Blaze
"h-how do you get a complete understanding?"
"well you know a weapons strengths and especially its weaknesses and how to use it in any situation"
"how long does that take?"
"months to years"
"wait Garren said his style was a mixture of different styles how many does he know"
"that's a question nobody knows not even Garren," Alice said puzzling blaze
"wait how does he not even know"
"well I have mastered about six styles but Garren has mastered so many that he can pick up a weapon he has never used and understand its weapon style"
"how?"
"my style realises on knowing enough styles that you start to see the similarity between different weapons you see what weaknesses weapons you know have and identifying on others, pretty impressive huh", Garren said leaning against the fence that surrounded the academy's practice yard
"Look who's bragging why don't you tell him about your magic", Alice said smirking
"well we don't we have to get into that I mean everybody has seen magic", Garren said with a hint of denial
"oh come on you know thousands of sword style, the kid will be amazed by your I'm show of it", Alice said resting her sword on her shoulder
"yeah come on I want to see it even more now", blaze said wondering what it's going to be
"Trust me you don't", Garren said through clenched teeth
"the weapon master is scared to cast a spell, I bet Alexander Goldrey wouldn't", Alice said causing Garren to slam his hand into the ground causing a rabbit to appear
"a rabbit?", Blaze said puzzled
"a rabbit", Alice said holding back her laughter
"a rabbit", Garren said in disappointment
"wait your magic is to summon a rabbit", Blaze said amazingly confused
"no I can form any creature I want", Garren said quietly
"then why don't you form bigger creatures", Blaze asked
"Tell him your drawback", Alice said crossing her arms
"The bigger I summon the creature the more I become like one," Garren said even more quietly
"I don't see why that is a problem I mean summoning a dragon lets you become like one", Blaze said causing Garren to look away
"I only turn more like one specific animal," Garren said quickly
"tell him the animal", Alice remarked
"a rabbit" Garren whispered
"a what" Alice said sarcastically
"a rabbit!" Garren shouted
"wait magic has drawbacks?", Blaze questioned
"that's what you got out of that, I turn into a rabbit and you get that", Garren said while Alice began to laugh
"wait we should probably to explain it him before he dies because he thought his magic was all-powerful", Alice said laughing to herself
"every time you cast your magic, your drawback activates", Garren explained
"what's mine?", blaze said concerned
"What happens after you use your magic?", Garren questioned
"I and people get more energy" blaze said confused
"yeah but what happens," Alice said gesturing for him to add more information
"I guess I get injured," blaze said unhelpfully
"what does that mean!" Alice shouted
"wait I got an idea", Garren said before grabbing Alice's sword and hitting blaze in the shoulder
"Why did you do that!", Blaze shouted in pain
"nowcast your magic," Garren said ignoring Blaze
"why?" blaze questioned slightly afraid
"just cast it", Garren said readying the wooden rapier
"fine" Blaze said casting his magic on himself before Garren hit him in the other arm
"why the other arm? I would have felt that if my magic wasn't cast", Blaze stated
Garren ignored Blaze again and walked over to him
"show me your injuries"
"okay?", blaze lifted his sleeves and realised that one arm had been cut well the other was just bruised
"just as I thought"
"what is it?" Alice questioned walking over to them
"well you see Blaze's drawback is that his magic makes him weaker when he cast it" Garren explained
"wait if my magic makes me weaker then why should I cast it?" blaze questioned
"well your magic is pretty useful and you know no sword skills so you should get better at dodging," Garren said causing blaze to get slightly annoyed
"then teach how to use a sword skill!" blaze said suddenly
"well, first you better..." Garren said signalling to Alice
"dodge,a thousand, times!" Alice and Garren both shouted, before attacking blaze.
"it's been a year and I finally mastered your first sword skill," Blaze said proudly before he moved like lightning striking through Alice's armour.
